K&M Construction

The previous owners had built an additional room onto our basement without any expertise at all. No insulation. So we went in there and ripped down the plywood they were using for drywall and insulated it. We then went on the search for a professional to put the drywall back up. After asking many people around us we came to K&M construction. We were told they were good. The simple job became quite the drawn out job. They were too put up new drywall on all 4 walls and ceiling. Add a heater duct and put up some trim. The job lasted months. We were simply happy we did not have to use that room. Luckily enough it truly was an extra room. People would stoll in and out doing whatever they were doing from time to time. They did get the job done. In the end stages we had asked them what color stain they had used for the trim. We were told not to worry about it they would give us a can. No can ever existed. The room was left trashed. Trash all over everywhere. The carpet we were planning on replacing to begin with, however when K& M got done we had zero choice in the matter. It was covered in plaster. Plaster that will not come out. For the heater duct they used a floor duct. So when we went out to purchase a cover we ended up making more than one trip back to the hardware store before we realized they hadn't even used the proper parts. You hire people to do things because you don't know how to do them or do not have the time. You expect them to be done properly. We were quoted 3200 hundred to do the job..in the end we spent almost 6 thousand. While it was decent work we were not happy because we still had to guestimate what color stain was used. We had the issue with the heater duct and it took entirely too long to finish. If we were on a time frame we would have been way over. Originally we were told one week. Imagine our surprise when the weeks drawn into months. We would not recommend them to anyone. Thus far we have no construction company to recommend to anyone in Norfolk, NE. All of the ones we have seen seem to do things the way the original owners did. Not having a clue but getting work simply because they were here 50 years. Name brand. We have yet to meet one company who will back up their work and fix their own screw ups to make the customer happy.
