Description of Work: The workers were professional and did excellent work. The contractor was a jerk. He overcharged me by thousands of $. I didn't know better until the workers told me. He also tried to get me to take out a loan to pay for more work he wanted to do for me. He also kept pushing the workers to work faster because he had other jobs he needed them to do. They refused saying they could do the job quickly or do it right and their reputation was on the line.

I am very happy with the completed work. I have wanted this porch enclosed for quite sometime now. I was hopeful that they would have the work done early enough that I could use the porch in the fall. This didn't happen it took forever and was well into the winter before they finished the work. After a long wait they called and came and finished the work in a couple of days I believe. I was out of town and really would have rather been home when they came. They were nice to work with, but I think a little high in price, but then I did sign the contract.
Description of Work: I had a screened in porch. They enclosed the porch and installed windows and a new door.

It was frustrating and challenging but I was a hard task master and got the best work possible for the money spent. No thanks to Remodel Green.
Description of Work: The 1200 sq ft deck and porch were inspected and a quote accepted. The owner of Remodel Green arrived and I issued a check for $700. A single worker was dropped off and we discussed what I wanted accomplished. Being that it was well into fall, it was decided not to wash the deck in preparation but instead just start sanding the flat surfaces. Keep in mind there was no supervision by the owner at any time during this process. I went to buy wood putty and provided all the tools the worker used. Fall weather was a constant exascerbater to the work process, rain, high winds and leaf litter. The worker was diligent but seemed in the dark about what was to be done. So I explained what the original estimate was for and what I expected. The young man was shocked by the estimate but understood that I was expecting a lot be done: weathered wood to be thoroughly clean, all cracks filled, all fasteners to be tightened and irregularities sorted. On his hands and knees he did everything I asked. No supervision except myself. Remodel Green specifically and included in the estimate a product to be used, Sherwin Williams. I went to the local distributor and selected the tint and product, I bought the sealer and brushes masking tape and other anciliararies. After two weeks of preparation and hand sanding the wood was ready for sealer, the product specified did not leave a good finish so I went back to Sherwin Williams and chose a non transparent sealer. The worker spent two days sealing and got 95% with one coat of the specified product. weather intervened and had to be postponed for one weekend and an ensuing week however the weekend was perfect weather and no one showed up to work. Reading the container for the specified product, the manufacturer recommends two coats of the product so I insisted that the worker apply two coats. He was shocked but when I showed the first line of the recommended application instructions, he agreed. Obviously, by this point the worker and I had formed a good relationship and started discussing various aspects of his employment. He worked for a temp-agency and was being paid minimum wage. He had never done this type of work. His stated experience was as a roofer and siding worker. He was not from the immediate area, but out of state. After two more weeks and daily inspection by myself of the work being done the second coat was finished on 11/1/'12. Remodel Green picked up the remaining $625. check on 11/10/'12

Response from Remodel Green Inc
Remondel Green Inc.- has enjoyed working with the member on his project, and I am glad we both agree on the high quality of work that was perfromed on his deck project. I know that he will enjoyed many years of entertaining on his beautiful deck. With his permission of course; I am sure, that he wouldn't mind anyone having a look. If I could have change or done anything different, looking back at his project. I would have postponed the project until the spring months. I would be the first to admit, that there are always things to learn, on any project. If you are not learning something new every-day; than I feel that you are not trying hard enough. Our proposal was set to start in June, which is the best time of the year to do staining on decks. He decided to wait until the end of the season to give the approvel to start on the project. This, caused other factors beyond our control that delayed the completion. Temperatures dropped too cold to work with these high quality products, on some of the most important days, also other factors; such as, constant leaves falling on the deck from his large trees surrounding the yard, rain, and moisture issues caused for inconvenience for both parties. I personally worked on his deck and had daily supervision on site, or by phone with my staff: even though I was short-handed by the amount of detail that he demanded, and the fact that we are a very busy reputable company. This is a good thing in the remodeling world. I will not stand; nor hover over my wokers to make sure that they are working. I trust them to do the best job they can and we talk about the project each day. It is a great deed to put temp agency workers, to work: which, in turn is a great deed for the city of Lincoln. I made sure we did everything he wanted, without any disagreement. The member was also heavily involved as stated. Every day standing behind and inspecting everything we were doing. The products were chosen by the member, to ensure he satifaction. He made sure we did everything just the way he wanted it; not just a job completed, even though it was not part of our June proposal. (He never did sign the June proposal)-Remodel Green Inc., finished the project as soon as possible, only being held up by the weather and after logging in over 150 man hours of work: he has a beautiful deck. I strongly believe, in giving every person that is willing to work, a chance to work, and an ability to build skill-sets that can benefit their lives. There was an admitted great working relationship with the worker. Why is there such haste over where he is from and his background? When a contractor is hired to do a job; they do the job. They don't take commands, yet this worker did, and I left room for input in the project. With someone that wants so much control over their job, such as the member, this working relationship: should have been a perfect one. I am sorry for your hard feelings, but I would like to think that you are very happy with your project in the end. That is what remondeling is all about. Thanks again for your testimoneal (the good and the bad), these are important to us, and our family at Remodel Green Inc...Thank you member, for the hard work, and dedication to getting exactly what you wanted out of this opportunity.

He started it 6 months ago and I ran out of money so I told him, "I'll call you when I have more money!" They have been very flexible when I had to change things. They are willing to refigure. They are very professional and they do good work. They are willing to try new things, such as putting in glass block as a backsplash for my cooktop. They hadn't done that before but I gave them the research I had done on that and he said "Hey, I can do that." I will call them back to finish up as soon as I get a tax refund.
Description of Work: I have used Remodel Green to remodel the kitchen. The owner is Chuck Berchefski.
