From the very beginning, going with Quality Block and Basement was the right choice. It was an easy choice. Aaron and his crew are all knowledgeable, capable and approachable. I was caught completely off guard by the fact that the foundation was as bad as it was in my newly purchased 1910 house. I knew it needed work but was hoping for the best. Other contractors talked about partial replacement and putting bandaids on some walls that were obviously compromised. Aaron took the time explaining to me things that made perfect sense, that Epp's and Spohr's glazed over. They treated me like a mushroom and then came in at insanely high prices for only partial replacement or repair. Nope. After owning it only 3 weeks, I hadn't even moved in, I had to take out an emergency 2nd mortgage through the Dept of Urban Development. They are very familiar with Aaron and his quality of work so that was reassuring! I can't say enough good about Aaron and the guys! They work fast without sacrificing quality. Tom reassured me that he'd try not to tear out any more plants than were absolutely necessary while he was trenching around the foundation. I appreciated that. This was my first experience with this sort of thing. They all were very patient with me and all my questions, with special thanks to Tom. I tried not to be a pest. If Aaron didn't happen to be around then any of the guys could competently answer my questions. That, too, was reassuring. I didn't feel the need to be there everyday. They did what we discussed, they way we discussed, for the price we discussed, in the time frame we discussed. No surprises. At the end of the day I can honestly say that Aaron and the guys made this entire experience as pleasant as one can hope for. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oh, and they didn't complain whenever I showed up with pizza. 🍕 Thanks guys!

It was a disaster. I contacted this company to discuss some drainage issues on the side of my house. I got a bid that was to include grading, placement of waterproofing material on the grade, trenching, and replacing two masonry window wells with new ones. First, his worker doing the grading and trenching piled the extra dirt up along my exterior walls about 3 feet high. I told Aaron this was unacceptable, so, with my OK, he had his worker take the dirt and dump it at the back of my property. Then, Aaron's idea for the window wells was to drop the aluminum barrel-shaped wells into the existing masonry wells, rather than removing the masonry and installing the new wells properly. When I told him that was unacceptable, he would take only about $215 off the original price, covering his cost for the wells and $100 for labor (he said removing the masonry and installing the new wells would have taken only an hour or two). At my suggestion, they put some sealant into the cracks in the masonry wells and left them alone. Then, Aaron thought my air conditioning unit was somehow in the way and should go up on blocks. With my reluctant OK, he took three landscaping blocks from a retaining wall, broke them, and placed the unit on top of them. This looked makeshift and unprofessional to me, so I told him to take the blocks out and put things back the way they were. At that point, he declared the job done and I paid him. A short time later, after the first, relatively light rain, the water simply pooled in the trench rather than flowing away from the house as promised, saturating the ground it was supposed to drain. I took some photos and contacted Aaron, who said he would come out and redo it. Weeks went by (to be fair, there was further rain which might have made the work more difficult). But in any case, I didn't hear fro him, and contacted him again. He said he'd be out to redo the trench sometime before the end of June. Meanwhile, I pulled out a different bid I had gotten earlier. The job was different (a French drain, grading, installing rocks). But I was surprised to see that the grading portion of the estimate from the other company was only $200. Since grading and putting down some plastic sheeting was all that Aaron had ultimately done, charging me almost $1900, I told him that I believed he had taken advantage of me and suggested some options for him to make things right, including a partial refund and/or providing rocks to stop the erosion of the grading work he did do, along with redoing the trench so it drained as he had promised he would. Aaron's response to me was anger. He said he wasn't going to refund any money, or provide any additional materials or work, and that "no one forced you" to accept the bid. It is certainly true that no one forced me to accept his bid, but once the job was reduced to simply grading and placing plastic sheeting, I would have thought a responsible businessman would have revised his bid accordingly. I have learned a very expensive lesson. Needless to say, he has not returned even to redo the trench, which he had promised to do, and I don't expect to hear from him again.
Description of Work: He was hired to do some grading and waterproofing on two sides of my foundation, trenching to channel water away from the house, and replace two window wells.

We had multiple quotes on the repairs; pricing and solutions were inconsistent and various. Only Quality seemed to fully understand the problem and how to fix it. Contractor provided several repair options and suggested one that we agreed upon. Contractor started the project in reasonable time but was delayed several days due to stormy weather. Contractor explained each part of the project and why he was doing that part as he and his crew completed each phase; contractor knows his business! Cleanup was exceptional; no mess left. For repairs like this, do get various contractor quotes and ideas; don't buy the first suggestion; ask a lot of questions; somewhat helpful to understand concrete foundation construction so that you avoid some of the "smoke and mirrors" ideas provided by some of the contractors. We could not believe the variances in pricing and suggested solutions. Quality Block and Foundation was the contractor that made the most logical sense in determing the problem for the foundation breakage and they had the best overall solution.

It went okay at first. Had a good and comparable bid. Was very anxious to start. Actually started before I would have liked. I had to get some refinancing completed. He started before I had the money. It was very questionable if I would have the money in time for the first payment. It did work out okay but stressful. They finished very quick but always seemed to be rushing through to get to the next job. I left work to met Aaron at the house to pay the final amount (because he said every thing was complete). When I got to the house and did the walk through, there were lots that were not done. Aaron was surprised because he was never at the job. There was still missing block where they removed a temp. support. Lot of other small items were also not completed. They did finish up and I paid him. I just wish I would have taken a better look around before we finished up. I noticed there was a chip out of my new dryer. (They told me to leave the appliances they would not be in the way). My shop vac was busted. The clean up outside was terrible. Even after Aaron asked his workers to clean it while I was still there. Somehow there was mortar all over my front screen door. Some things I didn't noticed until later because this was in December. They did work on the backside and used our patio to mix mortar (which is fine) but in the spring we noticed lots was dropped and left on the patio. We have to do a lot of scraping and removing from the patio and sidewalk. Lots of broken old concrete from removal was left around all sides of the house. I realize you can not keep it all out of the grass, flower beds etc. but it looked like they didn't even try. Of course this was al noticed in the spring. Also we have issues where we had concrete next to the house (sidewalk and patio). We discussed on this would be handled. Would they have to remove concrete? Aaron said they would cut the concrete with as little waste as possible. They didn't do too bad a job on this; however they did when the filled the gaps. My husband talked to Aaron regarding how these gaps would be filled. He said they would fill and it would look great. At this time my husband suggest self leveling caulk to him. He didn't know anything about this. It looked okay when they finished. However in the spring when it warmed up and rained a couple of time it was a different story. What ever he used started pulling away from the foundation and left a gap between the foundation and concrete. It was shortly after noticing this that we had a couple of very big rains. We had lots of water in our basement. We are talking enough that we had to puddles. It was all along one wall of the basement. We right away called Aaron and left a message and told him what was happening. We did not call back. After another rain and more water my husband called and left a message. We never heard from him. Finally we called and left a message and acted like we needed to get a bid to have work done. Finally after a week we got a call from a woman asking if we still needed a bid. I told here actually I need to talk to Aaron. It took some talking in the back ground and he finally got on the phone. I told him what was going on and he seem very sorry and willing to come check it out. He came the next day and looked at the basement. I showed him pictures. He was confused on why this would be happening. Said he would be there in the next week and do some work on the outside buy digging down and checking waterproofing and maybe putting some plastic against the foundation. Wasn't very pleased with his ideas but said give it a try. He seemed willing to correct the problem. However he never showed up and would never return calls and answer his phone. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they contacted him also regarding the problem and he would not respond to them either. We had take care of the problem ourselves. Never will I recommend this company to anyone. I will only say stay away.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced all four basement walls.
