Description of Work: They put a new roof on my house, installed a front porch pvc railing, installed new outdoor water spigots, installed new electrical routing. Went pretty smoothly when they finally got out to do some of the work. I had to constantly communicate to get updates on progress

Description of Work: They ended communication with me and did not attempt to work on arriving at an affordable remodel. We had three different projects planned, 2 of them were a go ahead but the third we were working on making costs more affordable. They just cut off communication. My first impression was that they were very professional-did not end up being that way. Total project was going to be over $20,000, maybe it wasn't worth their time. Wish they could have at least told me they decided not to work with me.

 + -1 moreThe whole process went very well. Thanks to Angie's List I identified two contractors who were interested in submitting bids. Thiese were North Star Construction LLC (NS) and Greg Carlson Contracting. I chose NS. Once selected, NS and I submitted bid to lender because of using HUD Section 203(k) funding. Lender approved NS. We immiediately submitted changes to the original bid which had been approved at closing. This went fine. NS was willing to help with this.Once lender approved requested changes, I chose cabinet design, counter tops, wood flooring, appliances, and paint colors. The work commenced late November. Its nearly done as of this date 1/2/15. NS has been easy to work with. The projects are nearly done.
Description of Work: Basically three projects: complete overhaul of Kitchen, replace all first floor carpeting with hardwood, insert 10' wide pocket door between living room and guest room.

 + -1 moreWe didn't know if we would need a whole new stairwell or just redo part of the stairwell. When Jeff came to make an estimate he told us he could work with the exhisting wood and that he would only need to reinforce the supports. This was music to our ears, because this saved us a lot of money. He was fast, neat, and the stairs are good as new. We will definitely will work with him again.
Description of Work: Our home is 50 years old and settling. The stairwell has started widening and so the stairs were collapsing.

 + 0 moreI have always been DIY all the way but being totally ignorant of what it took to install a floor I am now confident in what is needed to get the job done correctly. My wife and I were very pleased with the company's performance. As well as the carpenter's self motivation to git r done.
Description of Work: We pulled up all of the old carpet and prepared the bare floor for hardwood installation. The carpenters came in on time every day and work well together or alone. Honest and hard working I had no reserves about them being in home.
