Description of Work: Had a person come over to our home to do a price quote for replacement doors. He wasn't really sure how to read the price book so he said he would go back to the store and have his manager work up a price quote and get back to us. Well we never heard from them again! I guess they didnt want our business as we have now gone somewhere else for replacement doors.

Response from Nebraska's Home Improvement Center
After investigating this complaint we would like the opportunity to explain the situation in more detail. The Member came into our showroom at 5620 Cornhusker Hwy on 6/18/2012. At that time a appointment for was scheduled for 6/23/2012 for one of our reps to go to the Member’s home and provide an estimate to replace 2 entry doors. The sales rep assigned to the Member was new with our company and unfortunately was not very knowledgeable about pricing. The sales rep left the company shortly after and upon his exit turned in the lead has not qualified. Providing exceptional customer service to our clients is always our main focus! We would not have intentionally ignored a customer and would have liked to have had the opportunity to make right the situation for the Member’s had we been made aware. Unfortunately every business experiences a turnover of employees. In spite of our extensive background checks and interview process we on occasion have the misfortune of hiring someone who does not share the same core values as Nebraska's Home Improvement Center. We wish to extend our sincerest apologies to the Member’s for the inconvenience this has caused them. Sincerely, Nebraska’s Home Improvement Center

The estimate was around $6,605, without the topper. They had not brought the window samples with them. So, I went to the company to look at them. They were very nice to deal with. However, their windows were not very different from some of the others that were a little cheaper. They were professional. They were very informative and I did not have any problems with the company at all. I only wish that they had brought samples of their windows when they had come out. They did have the samples of the gutters and toppers, though. They did a great job of explaining things to me. They came out within a week of me calling them. I would consider them for a future quote.
Description of Work: Nebraska’s Home Improvement Center gave me an estimate, a month ago. The estimate was for five vinyl windows, gutters, gutter topper, and other things.

I don't remember how much they quoted me. I had a good impression about them. It was just too expensive for me so I didn't really delve any deeper into it. They called me about a week ago, but I had already taken another bid so I just thanked them and hung up. The price factor was not quite what I liked so I didn't lean that way at all. They came and gave me a quote pretty quickly so their responsiveness was good. They didn't bother me much after that and I didn't call them. They came out right away. They were exactly on time. I didn't quite like their sell tactics. They turned me off a little bit. I would not consider having them out for another estimate in the future because their tactics were a little off. I liked the product. They pitched that really well.
Description of Work: Nebraska's Home Improvement Center came out and did an estimate on windows, gutters, soffits, and fascia.

I was a little disappointed and felt that they were almost used car salesmen. I saw an ad on TV that said there was a 30 percent discount for siding. They started out with a quote of $41,000 and whittled it down to $17,000. They said that if I would do it that night it would be $15,000. They kept calling and wouldn't leave me alone. I finally had to tell them to just stop it. One of their salesmen actually called me and was bragging up their company and wanted to know what I liked. It was a real bad experience with them. I didn't get a lot of quotes but I almost felt like their prices were dishonest. It was very high-pressure sales. I just wanted them to give a price and let it go. They did miss a couple of appointments and had to reschedule. They were very unprofessional in the way in which they handled it.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from Nebraska’s Home Improvement Center to do siding on my house.

Nebraska Home Improvement to installed 13 windows in our home. An appointment was made for 10 am. Jason from Nebraska Home Improvement showed up at 1 pm. Jason asked if they could unload the windows in the driveway and then they needed to go get the trailer of equipment and would be back. Jason, with a trailer, came back at 3 explaining they finished another job and it was too hot to work. Jason told me that he had sent his crew home for the day and asked if they could store the windows in my garage and come back tomorrow to start the job. When Jason and his crew arrived the next day, I opened the garage for them to get the windows out. They began working shortly after they arrived but when I went out to scope out the project my garage was full of tools, saw horses, metal etc. They were using my garage as a work shop. Metal chips, cigarette butts and loud music filled my garage. Shortly after arriving Jason had to leave and when he came back he had brand new ladders, with cardboard protectors over the ends This was my first window installation and did not know what to expect so I went along with the crews ‘doings’ thinking that they were experienced. When the crew left for the day I was told they would come back on Friday to finish the job. They returned Friday morning with the same work ethics of loud music, tossing cigarette butts in my yard and foul language used as they installed the windows and rapped the metal trim. Late Friday afternoon the installation was not complete and two members of the crew were beginning to pick up my garage as the rest of the crew left. Jason asked if they could finish cleaning up my garage and come back Monday to finish the last of the trim and finish the install of the front picture window. “It’s Friday night and my crew wants to call it quits”. Jason left. I went out to the garage and told the 2 crew members that they could leave; they had done what they could to clean my garage. I was going to have to move everything to see the garage look as it did prior to them using it as a “shop”. Monday the job was finished and @ 5 pm Jason came to do a walk though and collect the second half of the payment. The windows were purchased on an energy loan and half the money was sent to the Nebraska Home Improvement and the other half to us to be paid in full upon completion of the window install. Jason and I walked through the inside and outside of the house. I asked about the gaps in the metal trim on the outside corners of the windows. Jason told me that gaps are left for the metal to breath. I asked why some had the gaps and others did not. Jason said that the windows were fine. I asked about the markings on my house and Jason said it would wash off and it “appeared as though I needed siding anyway”. I told him that my house may need siding, but that it was my money and we would replace the siding when were ready, not because the crew left marks on the siding. We found one window that the uv film was “spotted” and he said they would replace the window, he would order it. Unfortunately and totally my fault, I gave Jason the check after being assured that everything would be taken care of. Jason gave me his cell number and told me to call him if I had any problems or questions. A couple of weeks went by and the window was not replaced. I called Jason several time at the number he had given me and he never returned my calls. I called Nebraska Home Improvement and they knew nothing about it. They would send someone out to measure the window for replacement. Days went by, no one came. We called a week later and they had nothing on record. Again they told me someone would come out and measure. Eventually, one month after installation someone came out. I explained I was not happy. They measured the window to be replaced as when they went to look for the labels on the windows to show size and order number they noted that there was nothing on the bad window or the other window in the same room. I explained I had been calling Jason and he would not return my calls. How or who should we contact when we have problems with the windows. I took the employee out back and showed him my siding. He asked if Jason was aware, I said yes – he told me it would wash off. This employee told me that he would send a crew out to “paint” the siding. The employee left and within 30 minutes Jason was at my house asking me why I had not called him. I explained I had left messages and he said he never got them. He told me that I must have the wrong number. I asked why he stopped by now and he said he was doing a follow-up. I said “you just got your butt chewed and you are coming over to cover yourself”. He admitted he had been called to stop by. Jason never came over again and never replaced the window. About two weeks later a new employee stopped by to replace the window. I made several calls to Nebraska Home Improvement in the next 30 days to question why my siding was not painted or replaced. A crew showed up on a Saturday, 6 weeks after I had reported the bad siding, in person to an employee of Nebraska Home Improvement. The crew of two looked at the house and told me that they were contracted by Nebraska Home Improvement to paint but told me that there was no way they could match the paint. The crew asked me come out and look at their job. I shook my head at the difference in paint colors and let them leave. Again, my fault. The siding still shows the signs of paint being slapped on it over the damaged spots. As winter came the windows howled. The windows were cold to touch and we wondered if new insulation was placed around the windows. Our new windows were not showing us they were doing the job and they were not making a difference on our heating bills as promised. Spring came and as we began to open the windows we noted more windows with bad uv film. Also noted was that I was unable to lock most the windows once opened and then closed again. The windows do not seem to line up – you must push up on the top and pull down on the bottom and then make sure you have them perfectly lined up. I have had shoulder surgery and ease of the one finger open and locking was a selling point. After several phone calls Nebraska Home Improvement and no return calls, an appointment was finally set for a technician to come out and look at our windows. Jerry came out, a fresh new face at Nebraska Home Improvement. We explained our frustrations and he apologized saying that the front office staff had “walked out” and took all her knowledge of the company with her. “The new staff just gives folks sticky notes and no follow-ups are done”. He gave us his cell number and told us to contact him directly with problems. He was an x-brother in law or something like that and has an “in” with the owners. He told us the company had gotten many complaints for subcontracting. Jerry guaranteed he was going to make it right. Jerry measured the bad window for ordering a new one and then looked at the locks. Jerry stated that it appeared none of the windows were “lined up” which they have to do once they are installed. The lock in question was going to have to be replaced and he would do that when he brought the new window out. We asked about the howling winds through the windows and he told us that sub contacted jobs generally do not do insulation. Again, when he came back out he would take off some trim and check. We called after two weeks and no window. 4 weeks later Jerry called and apologized that he had been out in Western Nebraska and he was sorry he did not get back to us. He wanted to come over on a Monday morning before he left for western part of the state and we told him we were not taking time off to do this. He said he would have to stay in town to come out Monday afternoon. We said fine. We will be home after 3. We had something come up and called Nebraska Home Improvement to request that they come after 4. They could not find reference that we ever called or had no window for us. We were asked to call back – we did and then they finally found us and the appointment was moved to Tuesday. When Jerry came out he installed the new window and then took the trim off of a window. Jerry found no insulation and said again, “this is not uncommon when we subcontract a job.” He promised that the owners would personally call me and make this right. No calls… I called and talked to the person answering the phone and requested I be called. No return call. I contacted a lawyer who stated that we could use Jerry as our witness and that under the Energy Loan guidelines; Nebraska Home Improvement is responsible to keep up their end of the contract as well as a business with a contract they are obligated to do the work they stated they would do. I was advised that we could use Jerry as our witness and in a court of law, have it be deemed that the windows need to be repaired, insulated and installed properly by another company at Nebraska Home Improvements expense. I called Nebraska Home Improvement and again was told that the owners were unavailable. With frustration I explained I needed a call back, I had contacted a lawyer and I wanted to give them a chance to talk to us before we proceed. No return phone call. It is one year from installation and we are very unhappy with Nebraska Home Improvement. We would not use or recommend them to anyone replacing windows. We will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. As far as going through court, we all must pick our battles. We are having the house sided by another company that will, for a fee, remove the entire aluminum wraps around the windows and insulate. We will have to continue to have to hassle with Nebraska Home Improvements to replace bad windows and locks and will at a later date determine what action we would like to take in court.

Their estimate was for $7500. I thought that they were good. Their representative was knowledgeable. They were fine. I would have to wait to see as to where I have landed and how much all of it would cost.

They did a fantastic job. They are upfront and they don’t play games when pricing is concerned. They delivered their work in a timely manner like they said they would. They were very easy to work with. Their price was better than their competitors. They did a great job.
Description of Work: Nebraska's Home Improvement Center installed windows for us in March of 2010. They tore out and installed approximately 30 vinyl windows for us and a patio door. They also wrapped and sealed the windows.

I did not do any business with them. I spoke to them about windows. They showed me some products. They gave me a price range for installing the windows. The quote was for $1300. They gave me a lot of information. However, they seemed expensive. I will not consider them in the future.

Pretty well. There was a mix up in the financial area ( the details I really did not quite understand because I am not a banker) that was cleared up after a couple of phone calls. I do not recall any problems with dealing with any of the employees that I dealt with from Nebraska Home Improvement Center. I still have a few windows left to replace in the future. I will strongly consider using them at that time.
Description of Work: A service representative did come and measured each window for size. A approximate installation date was then set. I was told that since the windows were custom it would take six to eight weeks to complete. After six or seven weeks went by I was called and told the windows were in and ready to install. Two workers showed up to install the windows and they were professional. The installations look good and the windows work as promised.

Everything went great, from start to finish. Their workers knew what to do and did it in a timely manner. Everything was cleaned up. The owner of the company checked the progress every day and is something wasn't done to his satisfaction, it was redone. I would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: There were 2 times I used this company. The first was for the siding and added insulation. They use high quality materials with a lifetime warranty. Last winter I hit the siding with a snow shovel, and they came out and repaired it, no charge and it's been several years since the siding was done. I also had a new deck installed made out of a plastic type material. They also did an excellent job on this project.
