Description of Work: Maria is very personable and ready to work when she comes. I have been ill and my need for her help was needed in the worst way. We were having my grandson's graduation party here. I will have her again, but I think her price is a bit high and we will work that out with her. I am trying to clean my house out of all the clutter I have accumulated in the 47 years I've lived in this house. On top of that I have too many hobbies and cleaning gets put on the postpone list if there is a project I want to do. |Maria is very nice and I think, loves her work. Description of Work: It was the day before my birthday and I was 2 days away from having a house full of guests in town for a Husker football weekend. I decided to see if there were any good house cleaning companies that could come last minute for a deep one.time cleaning. I checked the reviews on the 10 companies that are listed in this category, picked three that were my top choices, then chose two companies that accepted credit cards to leave messages for. Maria was the third, and the only reason I didn't call her first was because I really wanted to charge it. However, I was impressed with the one and only review on Maria, and after reading through it again, decided to give her a call. Maria works for herself, not for a company, and so she answered the phone right away, which was nice. I visited with her and explained my dilemma, and amazingly she had just received a cancellation from one of her regular clients and had the very next day open. She spoke English, a little broken, but was very personable, and since I had no idea whether or not the other two companies would even call back on such short notice, I decided to give Maria the job. Wow, am I glad I did! Maria arrived exactly when she said she would the next morning. It didn't take long for me to realize what a gem she is. In person her English is actually much more fluent than on the phone. I asked her how she charges for her services, and she said "Show me your home and what you need and then I'll give you a price.". So after the "tour," she gave me a set price. She told me that she doesn't like to charge an hourly rate because some days she might work pretty fast and some days maybe be a little off and work slower. But, she always gives her homes very detailed and thorough attention. She is proud of her work, and she is good at it. You get what you pay for. She gave me lots of tips and told me I didn't need to spend a lot of money on expensive cleaners, telling me there are really only about about five or so basic items that can do all the jobs in my house. I really appreciated her confidence and her attitude. It's not very common to find someone who literally would do pretty much any houseKEEPING jobs as well as house "cleaning,". If you wanted someone to just come in and help you organize your closets, clean out your fridge or spend an entire day getting you caught up on your laundry, Maria would do that. She washed the few pots and pans I had left soaking in the sink before she started on my kitchen. I planned to get my bedroom picked up and organized enough for her to be able to clean it (I hadn'teven made the bed!), and before I had a chance to get in there, she had it done! She said "that's my birthday present for you!" Maria rocks, and I only wish I had the money to hire her every week!

Description of Work: Maria Rojas has been our housekeeper for over two years. We have a very large, very old home in Lincoln, with a dog, two cats, and three teenaged kids with lots of friends, so cleaning our home is no small task. Maria divides the job into two days; she does the top two floors, with the bedrooms and baths, and cleans the kitchen, every week. Every other week, she comes on a second day and cleans the downstairs living areas, including the kitchen and front porch (which is quite large) and changes our sheets and towels and washes them and puts them away. When she cleans she straightens, dusts, vacuums and mops the wood floors in each room and scrubs the bathroom fixtures, including using a pumice stone on the porcelain tubs, toilets and sinks. She washes any dishes in the sink. She will occasionally take on other jobs that don't need to be done every week, like cleaning the inside of the fridge, or the ceiling fan blades, or kitchen drawers and cabinets, or scrubbing the woodwork for fingerprints. I provide the cleaning products. She spends 5 or 6 hours at our house at a shot. She arrives about 9 am and leaves between 2 and 3 pm on most days. As I said, our home is huge and a bear to clean; she spends significantly less time at other homes she cleans that are more modest in size or with fewer kids and pets (and presumably charges less as well in those instances!).
