I can't say enough good things about Kurth Contracting! From the very first contact with Rob we knew were in very good hands with our project. He spent as much time as we needed to go through the various options for siding, windows and doors. Offered opinions on what would work best for us and wasn't always pushing us towards what cost the most. They actually started a week earlier than we were initially told and from day one his crew was always on time, very professional and friendly and took the time to explain each phase of the work. I will say that Kurths estimate ran a little bit higher than the others we got but I have absolutely no reservations about choosing them. These guys are not just siding installers, they are true craftsman!! I was always very impressed by their attention to detail and we were told by each member of the crew at one time or the other "We aren't finished until you are absolutely 100% happy with our work". Don't think twice about hiring Kurth Contracting for your job, Just do it!
Description of Work: Installed vinyl siding, soffits, facia. Replaced 3 large picture windows, 2 new entry doors, storm door. Insulated cantilevered floors. Prepped portion of house for stone veneer.

They did some pretty specialized work. We had some framework around our windows that is rather unique and curved and difficult to do and they used a brand new product for that and that turned out really well. It's low maintenance. We don't have to paint or maintain that. They replaced a lot of rotting wood that we had and that turned out very well. The quality of the work was A and I think the product is probably a B. Those guys were great.
Description of Work: We used the services of Kurth. They replaced all of our windows in our house. They also did some siding and soffits.

Our firm represents Rob Kurth and Kurth Contracting. Kurth Contracting has been a reputable siding and window Contractor since 1979 with thousands of satisfied customers. In 2005 Kurth Contracting was recognized by the Better Business Bureau with their highest honor, the Integrity Award. Kurth Contracting’s record has been complaint free since 1979. In addition, Kurth Contracting has received an A+ rating every year, the highest rating awarded by the Better Business Bureau. The individual who submitted the negative review of the work performed by Kurth Contracting filed multiple complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General, Lindsay Windows, and the Lincoln Building Inspector. All complaints were thoroughly reviewed and rejected as unfounded. Kurth Contracting installed Lindsay Windows in the claimant’s home. Lindsay Windows of Minnesota produces more than 50,000 windows a year and is a leader in the industry. In order to rectify any perceived wrongdoing, a Lindsay representative made two trips to the claimant’s residence. He found no problems with the windows or the installation. The products and services were also reviewed by the Lincoln Building Inspector. Having previously approved the job, he returned at the customer’s request to reexamine. He reiterated to the customer that the work had been completed successfully and professionally. It is difficult to determine whether the motivation of the claimants is to damage the reputation of Kurth Contracting or accomplish some other self serving purpose. But clearly the complaints cannot be based on the products or services received from our client. The Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General, Lindsay Windows and the Lincoln Building Inspector have dismissed the complaints as false and unfounded.

Stay away from Kurth Contracting. That is the best advice I can give one looking for this type of work to be completed by a contractor. Rob Kurth presents himself in the manner that he is not a sales person but an actual contractor who does the work himself - I found this to be untrue. During my interview process, I told Rob I normally do this type of work myself because I am a perfectionist but at this age, I preferred to contract it out. I explained all my concerns and Rob assured me his business was the one for the job. There is not enough space to provide all the details of what is wrong with the work that Kurth Contracting Windows and Siding did; but the main things I will share with you is that Rob presented me with a bill 20% over the contracted price at the end of the job and then insisted that I pay it or he was going to place liens on my property. His bid was already within or above the bids I had received from other contractors and the additional billing put him way over other contractors. His excuse for the additonal bill at the end was because he miscounted my windows and I was too "nit-picky". Nit-picky in the sense that I don't like it when my new windows leak, the paint is peeling off of them even before they are done, missing screens, wrong windows put in, torn screens, scratched handles and windows, dented trim, and not the door I ordered. Rob put in the wrong window and then tried to get me to live with it with no adjustment to my bill. Rob also stated he did not sub-contract out any of his work. In doing the siding, soffets, and gutters; I noticed they removed all my gutters and when I asked them if they were going to put them back on before the weekend due to the possibility of rain, after hee-hawing around for awhile I was told Kurth contracted out the gutter work and the gutter people would not be out until next week - needless to say it rained and my basement got water in it. My new front door that I just put in was dented and scraped by the crew but Rob refuses to replace it. Rob's and the manufacturer's answer to the peeling paint on my windows and door is to simply just cut off the parts that the paint is peeling on - REALLY. I paid $50k for new windows so I can cut them up where the paint is peeling. Not to mention Rob acutually charged me $100 per window for the windows to be the color I needed to match my current windows and I got a manufacturer's written warranty on the paint to last at least 20 years. The door I ordered had the wrong color of handle, it was not painted completed on the outside but Rob did not replace it but was going to throw some canned paint on one side of it so it could be considered painted. Rob stated that his payment terms were 20% down and the remaining contract amount when the job was completed. Sounds good doesn't it. I paid him the 20% when we both signed the contract but then he wanted full payment before the job was done. When I say the job was not done, the wrong window was still in, I was missing screens, the windows in the basement leaked, the door was the wrong color and the security lock did not work, and window handles and windows were dented and scratched. When I pointed this out to Rob, Rob stated that those were "maintenance issues" and that as far as he was concerned the job was done and he wanted his monies. When I asked him when he would get around to the "maintenance issues," Rob stated it would be around 4-6 weeks. I paid him more monies but held 20%, he became very upset and told me that I was too picky and that nothing in life was perfect. Rob then dropped off two missing screens for me to install myself which I found out did not fit. Amazingly with holding 20%, his crew was out in less than a week to finish up the "maintenance issues". During this time period, one of their workers cut his hand and needed stitches but the crew had no first aid supplies and actually asked me for medical tape so he wouldn't be bleeding all over my house. At this time, Rob's brother, Eric, apologized for all the problems on the job; a little bit too late for me. When the crew left, I was still missing two screens and the security bolt on my door did not work. Rob was there for his monies though. This time I held $4k untill I received the screens and the door lock was fixed. Rob was very upset and when he came back with the screens, he handed me an invoice for the additional $10k along with the threats of property liens, etc. if I did not pay. Currently, I am livid with the fact that I paid $50k for something that was to bring the value of my house up but due to the quality, it has depreciated the value of my house. I have tried to work with both Rob and the manufacturer (which I don't understand why I have to work with the manufacturer; I contracted with Kurth Contracting - Rob Kurth - Rob is contracted with the manufacturer) and am not getting any satisfaction. I am also looking for an attorney to advise me of my rights and what legal actions are available. At the end of the day, I just wish I had my old windows, doors, and 50k in my pocket.
Description of Work: Rob Kurth was contracted to replace my windows, sliding door, gutters, and to wrap my soffits with aluminium siding.

They were very prompt. They arrived early each day and cleaned up after themselves. They did an excellent job. I don't know how their price compares because they were the only bid we had.

We were really satisfied with them. They did a very professional job and they look good. They installed them in the dead of winter and we were pleased with the result. If we ever needed windows again we would use them.

The service was good. They are very good at what they do and pay attention to detail. They didn't stop once they started till they finished what they were doing. They are actually just finishing up now. We are having some things done but they have been very good to work with. They have been here for about two weeks and are just finishing up this week. The quality of their work is high. The workers have been with the company for a long time and know what they are doing. They are very courteous and cleaned up the area very well every day. I think that we could probably get things done cheaper.
