First contacted to replace mailbox. Came pretty prompt. Gave "discount" for future service. Had him do several things, including replacing a section of gutter, repair a gate (didn't work correctly and he didn't repair it). He scheduled and rescheduled several times. Church things, etc. He gave a bid to take down a tree and again was a no-show and rescheduled. After he did the work, the bill was inflated. He said that the tree was bigger than he thought he also didn't take care of the stump as he said he would and tried to charge me for rental equipment, blaming the equipment on the poor job. I ended up having to have another company come and take care of the stump. Actually ended up getting an attorney involved. Would NEVER use this company again. He was beligerant and rude. Not responsible at all.

See the story above. Did not go well from start to finish. :(
Description of Work: Contacted Kevlar to place 4 light fixtures in our house. (Take out old fixture and put in new). He quoted me $40/fixture and we set up a time. On the day the service was to be performed, he called and asked to reschedule because he wanted to do his outside jobs that day as the weather was good. I called my husband and we changed our schedule to accommodate him on a different day. He arrived and performed the services, putting in 4 lights in different areas of our house He charged us $275 for the service When I arrived home and saw the bill, I called him and asked why it was so different than the quote (70% higher than the quote). He said that 2 of the fixtures were chandeliers and they were $20 more a piece (Note, they were not extravagant chandeliers, just 5 light fixtures that go over a dining table). He said he also charges a service call charge. I explained he never mentioned this before in his quote. His reply was he talks to a lot of people and can't always remember what he said to people and he can't be expected to remember to include that service call piece in his quote He kept talking over me about he was very competitive and every handyman charges a service call and I was "way out in the Highlands" in Lincoln. (Note, when I set up the appt. the week before and gave him my address I told him is was in the HIghlands and he said not one word about it being an extra charge) I expressed my severe disappointment and he offered to give us a discount off our next service He was never specific about what amount of discount, just seemed to be backpedaling because he had no excuse for the atrocious bill. After I hung up with him, I discovered one of the glass fixtures on one of the lights was broken. My husband said he told him it came out of the box that way--no way to prove otherwise. I also found broken glass on the carpet. The plastic bags that the new fixtures came in were on the counter, small torn bags on the floor and screws on the floor. Pieces of Styrofoam on floors, counters, in sink and kitchen table/chairs. I understand that opening those packages can cause Styrofoam to fly around, but the mess was pretty significant . Overall, very disappointed. The fixtures seem to be in OK, although given the lack of professionalism with the estimate, scheduling, cleanliness and poor customer service does put a small amount of doubt if the job was done right.

The handyman did not return to them for fear what other work he would be charged for as they had failed to fix the lock two previous times...so he found another locksmith who in fact fixed the lock ( Lincoln Lock) on the first try and they indicated who ever had been in the lock had messed it up good. We called Kevlar Service to complain and the owner Kevin Larson refused to refund any portion of the charges indicating he had told our repairman that it might cost up to $300 to repair the lock. The end result however is that the lock was not repaired at all. I would not recommend this company nor do I intend to ever do business with them again.
Description of Work: Phi Gamme Delta Fraternity had Purchased a Lock for our Kitchen door from Johnson Hardware. The lock turned out to be non-functioning. Our handyman who was unfamiliar with lockmsmiths in our town located these folks out of the phone book. Our Handyman took the lock to them once - they billed him $150 dollars to fix the lock. They assured him it was fixed and he attempted to install the lock which still didn't work. He returned to Kevlar again as the lock had not repaired correctly and they attempted to repair it again and told him a second time they had fixed it (what they apparently hadn't fixed before) yet still charged him another$120.00. The lock was still no functional.
