Crounse met the bid from the insurance appraiser (storm damage) where the others did not. Roof looks great; Class IV shingles, gutters are bigger than the old ones.

Brandon was very polite and professional, but the quality of work was horrible. First they forgot the last ten feet of ridge cap and if I wouldn't have noticed it, we'd have rain in our attic. They said they ran out and forgot to go back, but they got it finished right before the rain storm hit upon my prompting. They also sloped the gutters to the corners instead of the downspouts, which causes water to sit in them until it evaporates. I've contacted Brandon on multiple occasions to remedy the problem. He's always very polite and says he'll get it fixed right away, but doesn't come to fix it... then he stopped returning my calls. I'll now have to hire someone else to do the job right. They're very polite and professional, but their craftsmanship leaves much to be desired. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Hire someone else and have it done right the first time.

Description of Work: I hired Crounse Construction because they were recommended by my insurance company. I assumed that they understood the procedures for repairing an insurance claim means that the property is to be repaired to original condition. My roof leaked and caused interior damage requiring the ceiling and some sidewalls to be replaced. This also meant that the insulation in the attic and walls would need to be replaced. I was told that the attic insulation would be sucked out with a machine and then replaced. Since I had baseboard, quarter round molding and crown molding they informed me that they wouldn't not guarantee that they could remove it successfully in those areas that needed to be repaired. This should have been my first clue that something was wrong because that is just part of the job. If you break something while removing a portion of it, then you have to replace all of it with something like it. My house was built in 1953 and the trend at the time was to use 2 layers of drywall throughout the entire house. This was done for insulation purposes. In the course of the repair, I came home at noon and discovered that they had cut a large hole in the living room ceiling and that was how they removing the attic insulation. They did NOT cover any of my furniture or doorways into other rooms so all of the nasty dirt from the attic was going all over my house, furniture, carpet, cupboards, closets, etc. I asked what they were doing and I was told that they were unable to remove the old insulation as planned so had to do it this way. I just starred in shock as all of my belongs were covered with this awful dirt. I asked why they didn't protect my things with plastic and was told that they were given their instructions and then the owner left. | |When they were "Finished" with my insurance claim project, they had only put one layer of drywall on the ceiling instead of two. They installed blown-in insulation in the attic instead of bat insulation as was previously there. One of the interior walls was not fixed at all. A hole had been punched through the wall and then they tried to patch it. They said there aren't any studs in my walls? So they couldn't replace the drywall. My entire house was so full of attic dust I could hardly breathe. The carpet under the spot where they cut the hole to remove the insulation was almost black. They removed all of the crown molding but it was never replaced. The new drywall was never painted. Four years later I am still having problems with the blown in insulation falling down thru holes and my house is constantly dusty because they didn't properly install the blown-in insulation. They didn't put down any type of barrier and so now the dust and dirt continually comes into my home. I have to wash my dishes when I take them out of the cupboards before I can use them because they are so dusty. I NEVER had a problem with dust in my kitchen cabinets prior to this. I am also having health issues because of these issues. | |To top it off, I got an estimate from a reputable company to fix all the damages and when I paid Crounse I deducted that amount. I received a very unprofessional email telling me that I was committing insurance fraud (which I wasn't) and that he was putting a contractors lien on my home. | |I strongly urge anyone thinking about using this company not to. I am paying a huge price for believing this person would do what he said he would do. He insulted me and used language no professional should use to a customer. Please don't make my mistake. This work was done in the fall of 2011 (the calendar for the service date would not go back that far).

Very well. Owned the house (our first home) for only two years, so it was stressful to replace a roof. Crounse was very professional and helpful. We were lucky enough to take advantage of a deal they were offering; 50 year shingles for the price of the regular 25 year shingles. As a result our homeowners insurance decreased about 10%. Crounse also handled the interior work (water damage on the ceiling in the hall, living room and bathroom due to leakage from the roof), which made things much easier than looking for another contractor to work with. There was a little interior work that had to be re-done (although Brandon himself first noticed it and came back to do it himself) and a downspout was replaced due to minor dents from debris from ripping off the old roof. But these were very minor issues and done without prompting by us. Being new homeowners, we were grateful that Crounse was our roofer. I'd also note the people working on the roof were very polite and accomodating. Being at home with a three year old, I need to feel secure with the people in and around our home.
Description of Work: Replaced roof on house built in 1992, was the original roof. Insurer paid for roof replacement due to storm damage and lack of a comparable shingle available (due to the age of the roof). Insurance company worked with Crounse and myself.

They provided an estimate and stuck with the estimate and performed work as asked. A large roof was replaced so they used a large crew to perform the work. Some of the work was left unfinished over the weekend, and we had to call them to complete it. They were slow in responding to phone calls at times. Overall we were satisfied with the completed work.
