Casey Nelson Exteriors

Casey along with one of his Project Managers, Ryan, and one of his best siders, Victor, all exceeded my expectations. The materials we selected from samples look great in the end. Our windows are perfect fit and more temperature efficient then I was anticipating. The project was completed within the time frame we discussed, and actually finished earlier than projected. Would recommend to friends and family, and plan to use in the future for other renovation projects.

Casey had a nice presentation in his estimate and showed up the same day I called. He presented things well and was friendly. I did some research on materials and called to ask him for a demo on the materials he can offer. I also wanted to see the quality of the windows he was offering. The day of the demo he had me go out to his truck where he had a mess of samples in the truck bed. I wasn't impressed with the windows he was offering. They seemed really shifty when they moved up and down. Also, I explained that I was looking for steel siding because of its longevity and quality. He sort of made fun of me for wanting that and said vinyl siding is better because if you get damage, they can replace it without taking down the entire wall of siding. Vinyl siding also looks terrible, has seams everywhere, blows off in the wind, is super poor quality and needs to be replaced in 10 years. I asked him if he offered steel and he said he does and then showed me an aluminum sample and said he only has like one customer a year that wants that. He said literally no one wants it. The sample was a 5-inch wide sample and the steel I was aware of you can change the "stamp" to make it 3-inch or another width. When I asked him about that, he said 'no this is the only width it comes in and it doesn't look good, trust me you want vinyl.' I took a picture of the sample and thanked him for the demo. After some research online, the sample he showed me was aluminum and not steel at all. I wouldn't trust Casey.

They used partial height siding with J trim around the entire bottom of the house except the garage. It looks terrible and is a debris catcher. The workers ran a screw through our a/c Freon line, which we discovered when we replaced the unit because we thought it had failed. They said they would consider compensating us for it, but we never heard from them again. We recently found a screw sticking out in the dryer vent preventing it from opening fully, creating a fire hazard. The sub-contractor who did our gutters didn't get enough slope on them. When we called about that they did send someone out to fix it.

Very well. The time frame was what they said it would be - both in terms of start date and completion time.

They were very prompt and even began the job in the winter since the weather was not awful. But there were a few times while they were working outside that it got pretty wintry and they kept at it.

Casey was prompt with his estimate and explained everything well. We weren't in a hurry but the work started nearly 5 weeks earlier than expected. That is always a plus! There were some problems, as there can always be, but everything was quickly resolved. We also added extra things to the list and they did them happily. We would definitely use Blackshirt Exteriors again, no matter what! Very happy with everything!
