I am writing in response to the only other review of Southfork homes. Certainly companies change over time - but Southfork built our home in 1993 -1994. We are still in the home and loving it! I recently just had all of my duct work inspected, and they said the builders did a great job of running the correct size duct work and placing my two units to load-balance the house. I still have the original HVAC system - original hot water heaters! As I remember - the owner - Ron U. - was not the most pleasant person to work with - but I do not remember any specifics.
Description of Work: Built our custom home.

This builder built our home in 2002. I have been telling anybody that would listen to not build with them. It has been almost 10 years, we are having to replace the heating and A/C because they were lowest builder grade they could install at that time. They forgot to hook up the a/c unit so they put it outside the basement window that can't be used for a spare room because in the summer time the unit will run for 20 hours a day. We also learned during the a/c and heating inspection that the duct work was insufficient for a house our size and the return air ducts on the north side of the house were not installed at all. This is just the latest issue. The builder ignored my complaint about the house being terribly hot upstairs in the summer that first year during the warranty period. About 4 years after the house was complete, our house was "Red Tagged" by MUD because our stop valve had a severe leak and had created an underground lake. The contractor was amazed that it wasn't worse, because the stop valve had been leaking for 4 years and finally corroded enough that it became noticeable. I kept telling the builder that I heard water running, nothing was done. I wrote a letter to the builder after my $3000 repair asking him to pay half since it was a faulty connection at the time of construction. I got a letter back saying it wasn't his problem since the builder warranty was over. Right after the builder warranty was up we had a roof leak, I repeatedly try contacting the builder to get the name of the roof contractor so we could have them come out to fix the leak. He never called us back. At the final walk thru we noticed the back sliding glass door was warped. They came out and fixed it, by leaning it on the railing of the deck and hammering it to make the frame fit. It obviously didn't work, but the superintendent for the builder that was in charge of our house told us that was as good as it's going to get. So, needless to say the door was replaced about 4 years ago. notrea
Description of Work: We hired this contractor to build our home. After viewing the model home and meeting with their realtor we decided to proceed with the building. We chose a lot that had a walkout basement and was big enough to have a 3 car garage. The builder promised that the lot we chose would work we proceeded with the lot. Come to find out after the foundation was poured they had to cut 3 sq feet off the 3rd car garage. There was little communication by the builder during construction and they would only talk to my husband. We did an inspection after dry wall. I was supposed to have a recessed area in my dining room for my hutch, they forgot to do it and when I said something I was told they weren't in the plans, until we pulled out the plans and they were there. At that time I was told I should have said something pryor to drywall. There were squeaky floors in the master bedroom that we discovered just before they put carpet down, we asked to have it fixed. It wasn't and we were told that it would get better with furniture in there, it didn't. Final walk thru wasn't any better and we were told that if we didn't close he would sue us for breach of contract. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gladly gone to court for breach of contract.

The company made sure to answer all of my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the finished product. They did not take a long time to build the house and the workers were always on time and friendly as well. I would recommend this company. I was very pleased with the service and I have no complaints.
Description of Work: We had a four bedroom and four bathroom home built for us. It is about 3000 square feet. A garage was built as well.

They did an alright job. I was not too pleased with this company. I felt they could have put more detail into the house and taken their time a little bit more. The price seemed reasonable, but there was still some serious slacking. The workers were not very friendly or punctual either.
Description of Work: They built our 3000 square foot, four bedroom, three bath home. They also built a garage as well.
