They were very fast at first, and did a great job on the replacement siding and the barn roof. There were issues with the shutters, but not anything too bad. The issues we had was with the paint. The painters left a large mess and this is where the issues arose. There was a large paint spill on the roof, paint smeared on the upstairs window, two of the outlet covers were painted (two were not), another paint spill on the front of the house, the garage door frame was not all the way painted, paint splatters all over the deck, and finally the painters had pulled up the tape that was used to cover the windows, causing the stain to be pealed up from our deck. Zach Sciscoe was the person that I was in contact with. It took three times for whoever came out to wipe the paint off the window. Every time they came out, I was not informed they were there, or they came out when we were not home. The stain that had been ripped off the deck and repainted, was not redone properly and began to bubble. I had asked them as a kind gesture to paint an approximate 5x7 inch section of our deck that was left unpainted by the prior company. I had asked them twice to help us with that small section of unpainted deck, in turn for the prior sloppy paint mess, the unpainted sections of the house (that I still have to fix), and the continuous times they came out and the mess was not cleaned up. They refused to paint the small section both of the times they came out to fix the bubbling paint, even thought they had the paint, ladder, and paint brush out already. I have called Zach twice, with no answer (I left a message with no return call) and attempted to call the office twice. They seem to not answer my phone calls. Zach does return emails in a reasonable time. I understand the small 5x7 section of paint was not their doing, however, I believe it was the least they could have done to help resolve the extremely frustrating experience we had with them. I still have a few hours of work to fix on our house because of their incomplete, and sloppy work. I also know it was a contracted painting company they used, but THEY hired them and it is up to them to fix any messes those painters have created. I also believe with the amount of money that we paid them, they should have treated the small things just as well as the large things.

Berens Construction installed our permanent siding over 25 years ago with a product lifetime warranty. With the Nebraska winds, from time to time, we've had to call because trim has been torn away or we've had hail damage. This last time, because of the wind, we had a significant part of the soffit tear loose and blow away. Berens was quick to come out when we called and replaced it for what we considered an extremely reasonable cost. This spring, we are going to replace our downspouts and guttering. They are the people we are going to call.

I was told this would take three weeks and they were true to their word. The workers showed up everyday at the same time and were very polite. One of the workers had over 30 years of experience and really took the time to explain things to me. When they were done they cleaned everything up and you couldn't tell they were ever there.
