Amazing! While performing the initial deck repair, we had the lemon sized hail that ripped another part of the gutter out on the side of the house and they stabilized and repaired that as well for a song since they were already onsite. If you're looking for a guy in a suit with a clipboard and computer generated bills, this is not the company for you. But...if you are looking for a company that does great work, has good cost effective ideas; and a fair price, I'd call Pat first every time.
Description of Work: Patrick and Mike did an amazing job repairing our deck stairs. Not only did they rebuild the stairs but repaired the gutter that was leaking onto them with every storm and rotting them out prematurely!

The contractor called right away to set up the appt to take a look, after going over multiple items, he agreed he could do the work and returned a bid within a week. We were happy with the bid and the contractor started the work when promised. Starting off he ran into problems moving the wiring due to the lines being stapled. I was able to reach in to remove the staples so we would not need to rewire the surround sound, but when pulling the wiring, one of the back speaker wires pulled through its hole ceiling causing the contractor to punch additional holes in searching to pull it back out. He did run a piece of our wiring from the fan box over to an existing wall switch, but did not hook up on either end. Plastic was not used during the sanding or mudding of the ceiling or walls, but the ceiling turned out great and we were very happy with the results. The entry and screen door was removed with the new door put in, however off center and missing two inches of the threshold into the house. The contractor did call and advise it would be corrected the next day and asked if we had tiles that matched the entryway, as it would not fit in the same positioning. The next day, I received a call advising the work was done and waiting for payment. Coming home I found the walls had a fresh coat of mud, the contractor advised he was still working on, in addition, the fan wiring was still not connected to the fan box or switch, the electrical panel door was still on the floor, the framed water main/meter had been drywalled in with an outlet size hole, needing it to be cut out on both. The whole house was full of dust and all trash, mud drops, construction waste and doors left in basement and garage. The storm door was not put back on, (advised was not part of the bid). When the installed entry door is shut, there is a wide gap on the opening side where light is seen through. The 2 inch space between the threshold and tile is still there. There is no support board under the threshold step of the installed door, if stepping on it moves back and forth. The outside of the door has wide gaps all the way around the door (advised a painter can caulk). The existing woodwork was put back on crooked, overhanging into the opening of the door, which gets hit and cracked due to the off center and drop to the left. The deadbolt was not re-installed, the door handle would not turn to the right and by the next day we could not get in or out of the door. I was advised he was still going to finish up and I had his check written, when we took the dog out and came back in, the contractor had left...and never came back. I am not sure what happened, although we had a mess at first, when he was at the point of finishing the ceiling, I was very pleased. It would have been better for both of us if he would have just advised he could not do the work, or if not having the time, I would have rather he just not have started it. It did seem to take more time and he had to have others help, so I am unsure if it took longer than he expected and was no longer worth his time, but we could have discussed and modified the pricing. He did ask for and was given extra for the wire I pulled into the ceiling, so I would not think needing more money was the issue,,. As it stands I have to call in someone to repair/finish his work. I would not normally write up a bad review on someone, but this is an honest review and I am sorry for whatever happened that could have caused this type of work to be left.. I thought the pricing was good in the bid, however for the quality of what he left us with and cost I will have to pay to complete the work, lowered the ratings. We are sorry it did not work out..and I do have to say he did do a great job on the ceiling. I would just recommend that although you discuss what needs to done, make sure all work, time and expectations, be specified in the paperwork.
Description of Work: We had multiple areas needing updates, but needing a few items completed right away. Our front entry door had a screen door and basic raised panel insulated main entry door with a deadbolt and lock handle on each. The main door had missing weather stripping. We had purchased a similar door to be installed, but with moon window. My basement had the previous ceiling texture scrapped down and was needing to have some joint replacements, re-skimmed and be re-textured. A box for a ceiling fan had to have the wiring ran to a wall switch. The electrical box and the meter/water main was in open view. Wiring for the tv/surround sound needed to be moved 5 ft to position under the tv, The walls in the basement had been mudded but had not been finished, still needing to be sanded and having the final coating. We had some supplies including two new 5 Gallon buckets of mud, rolls of plastic, wiring, boxes, switches, foam insulation, texture tools, brooms etc. Other areas were discussed but decided to start on just the above. The contractor wrote up the work to be done as ...Sand ceilings, retape corners, misc flat joints, recoat entire basement, texture ceilings and sand. $850.00 Frame and install access doors around panel +water $550.00 Run new switch leg for pool lite and patch holes. $200.00 Install owners front door, misc framing $300.00 Move audio/video wires under the tv $50.00

Pat was prompt for the initial meeting and I enjoyed talking with him about the project. I thought we got along great and a quote was promised to follow shortly. He seems to know his stuff which is a definite plus. This was a ~$6,000 to $9,000 job involving railing remodeling in various locations in the house with additional work with a bathroom remodel and trim work in the basement. A coworker of mine is having work done by Pat (costing less than my project will) and is mostly happy but has had trouble staying in touch with Pat as the job progressed as well. Since I called Pat on a referral (and told him this), I was shocked when I didn’t hear back from him – ever. No thanks; there are other contractors that will be happy to play by the rules of good business by respecting the customer with a simple call-back. Based on how I was left in the dark and I wasted a week wondering if he’d be getting in touch with me and what the problem could be, I can only give him a “D” for overall experience. I prefer to work with contractors that respect my time and can be honest with a courteous “thanks but no thanks” response if they choose not to quote my job. In fact, I scour reviews for signs of contractors being unresponsive before I call. This is important to me because I think this is a sign of how they plan to handle the entire job and how they will treat you. If you feel the same way , you may wish to steer clear.
