Someone showed up (as promised) and rang doorbell (door was open, meaning someone was home) but I didn't get to it before he left his card and was gone. Not exaggerating, was less than 2 min before I got to the door. I immediately called to say I'm home, if he would come back, as he could not have gotten far, but no answer. Since that day, approximately a month ago, I have called at least 6 times and left 4 messages with ZERO response. I was looking forward to working with him, as my understanding was he has a good reputation and has been in business quite awhile. At first I gave the benefit of the doubt, as this is a small business, many are short-handed, and booked out pretty far. But to never answer calls or return messages, that is very bad business, and I have since given up and just threw his card away.
Description of Work: Wanted pond liner secured, landscape rocks re-situated and help getting pond ready to return fish to it.

He and two helpers turned up promptly, worked steadily and completed the job in less than a day. A minor problem showed up afer a day or so, I don't even remember now exactly what it was, but he came back immediately and fixed it. It has been working fine ever since.
Description of Work: He remade the pond. He removed the old rocks and leaky liner (15+ yrs old, his original installation), put in a new liner and remade the rocky surround and raised the height of the waterfall.

We have an area in our yard that WAS an eyesore! It gets very little sun and grass wouldn't grow. Unfortunately it is the first thing you see when you go down our deck stairs. I had tried everything from special grass seed, treating the soil to putting down river rock. A relative had given us some flagstone they had taken out of their yard. I thought about making a walkway from our stairs to the gate through the bad lands. That didn't work because the ground was so uneven. I called Todd to ask what could be done. He took some measurements and said he would work on it. A few days later he arrived with two workers. I was at work. When I returned home my husband met me at the door. He said "you've got to see this!" I couldn't believe it was the same area. He had used the flagstone to build a beautiful walkway to the gate. He also created a raised garden, edged with large rocks. He then took crowded plants from our yard and transplanted them into the garden. He connected the patio under our deck to the garden with steps made from the flagstone. I wish I had taken before and after pictures. His ability to envision, what he wants to do, is more than an art. It's a gift.
Description of Work: Built a walk way and landscaping.

Todd always keeps you in the loop as far as how the project is planned and executed. He is always available for questions and is very amenable to changes/additions to a project. His crew is very respectful and works very hard to get the job done on schedule or ahead of schedule. The Pond Guy offers creative solutions to your landscaping needs. Honest and dedicated and very knowledgeable about water features and landscaping. I highly recommend The Pond Guy.
Description of Work: Todd and crew installed a water feature at my home and also landscaped our yard with plants, mulch, trees, rock, etc. I've also worked with The Pond Guy professionally at the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting. We worked together for many years on this job and their service was excellent.

He (Todd) trouble shot and found the leak. Within 24 hours he had his crew on-site remedying the problem (was a simple ground settling issue). The Pond Guy did not charge for his labor!

Todd came out, looked around the property and pond for approximately 20 minutes and said he would be emailing a quote over to me. I waited about a week had not heard from him yet so I called and left a voice mail. I have since called more than 5 times and sent two emails and still haven't heard a thing and its been about 3 weeks. If they can't be responsive enough to at least get back to a customer and say "Hey, I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet but we've been really busy, I will have your quote over by X date" then I wouldn't trust them to actually show up to do the work, do the work correctly and if something went wrong during the installation and you had to call back for support it would be a complete nightmare. I would advise to stay away from this company.
Description of Work: I asked Todd, the owner to come out to give us an estimate on redoing our back yard koi pond.

Response from The Pond Guy Inc
Hi [member name removed], When we spoke at your home you had mentioned that you wanted us to reuse the flagstone that was in your existing waterfall to create a new waterfall. I thought that I had explained that we do not use flagstone in waterfalls because it has a tendency to disinegrate when in contact with water. Again, regardless of who rebuilds the waterfall I would not recommend using the flagstone. I apologize for not making that more clear. I am certain that I let you know that we were going to be working out of town for several weeks because we were very excited about that upcoming job. It can be difficult to respond to calls when living in a motel. I am sorry that we were not able to help you with your project.

Todd put in our pond over 12 years ago and our pond has been working great ever since. He or his crew come in the spring to drain, clean out, adjust shifting rocks, and refill the pond. He usually is able to provide this service within a few days of my request and we are set to enjoy the pond for the summer. He and his team have always been professional and friendly. If you are looking for someone who does good work and keeps things running smoothly year after year, I recommend you give Todd a call.
Description of Work: Provided yearly maintenance on our pond.

After an embarrassing and expensive mistake hiring the wrong contractor to build a waterfall behind our home, we took a class on Pond Building offered through the Community College, hoping that we could fix the mess left behind by the original contractor. The instructor was Todd Kalihoff, owner of "The Pond Guy" landscaping business. We decided after attending his class that we wanted him to come out and give us an estimate on repairing the mess left behind by the previous contractor. Todd showed up at the agreed time, discussed options with us and two days later provided us with an estimate that was agreeable to us. We contracted to have the work performed. The Pond Guy showed up with his experienced crew when he said he would be there and completed the work within a week. The work performed included repairing leaks to the existing waterfall, getting rid of the pond we had not wanted (made it pondless), added a "south fork" to the waterfall, replaced an existing pump with an energy efficient, quick-release pump and added multiple small waterfalls along the 50 foot waterfall stream, focusing on ensuring that the "waterfall sound" was directionally projected to give us the best possible audible experience. We were extremely pleased with the outcome. Another thing that was amazing to us was that the first contractor did severe damage to our lawn with their equipment. The Pond Guy and crew left our property in better shape than when they arrived. During the process of re-doing the waterfall, Todd Kalihoff also found a way to cut labor and equipment costs and then passed that savings on to us. If you are looking for a professional landscaper for any water feature, I highly recommend The Pond Guy. He and his crew are honest, know their business inside-out and take great pride in achieving customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: During the summer, we had added a waterfall to the birm behind our home. The work was performed by an individual who was trying to get a start in the landscaping / water feature business. The net result was an overrun on the budget by more than $8,000 and a waterfall that was inefficient, leaked water and was more of a stream than a waterfall. We called The Pond Guy to come out and redo the waterfall to repair leaks and to enhance the appearance. The work was performed quickly, professionally and turned out beautiful! Instead of an overrun on costs as we experienced with the first contractor, Todd Kalihoff found a way to cut labor and equipment costs from the agreed upon contract price and passed that savings on to us. I would highly recommend The Pond Guy for any type of water feature and landscaping.

This company was very professional and courteous; they were very patient ansering my questions, did not destroy any of our existing landscape, provided helpful hints on pond care and future landscaping ideas for around the pond.Todd the Pond Guy incorportated a tiered pond wall design (like steps) to prevent any accidents. If a child, dog or cat fell in they could easily grab a rock or ledge and easily get out. It's not just a huge two foot hole in the ground with flat sides. These tiers also provide the fish and plants varying water depths to forage and grow in. The design is so natural and the waterfall sounds great. The lead crew foreman (Seth) was very helpful and informative. .
Description of Work: Designed and hand-excavated a beautiful 11' x11' x 2' backyard gold fish pond with an 4' waterfall!! Todd the Pond Guy layed out our vision on paper, then is two-man crew hand-dug the whole pond in one day. The second day was spent laying the liner, designing the interior of the pond and creating the water fall. On the third day they filled it with water, planted the aquatic vegatation and fine-tuned the waterfall so the sound was directed toward our porch and windows.

We didn't even know they were there. When they were done for the day (this took 3 days to complete) they made sure the area was as safe as it could be. They also cleaned up EVERY EVENING. We were amazed. And the finished product is better than we could have imagined. Even our neighbors comment on how wonderful it is.The birds like it too. it is great sitting outside listing to the water and watching the birds bathe in the stream.
Description of Work: Water feature installed. Todd and his crew did a wonderful job. Todd came out and we talked about what we wanted. He surveyed the area and came up with ideas on what could be done. He then provided us the names and addresses of clients so we could check out his work. We visited with the clients, they were excited to show us their water features. We hired The Pond Guy and haven't looked back. They are professional and they do a fabulous job. Any time I have a question, I call or email and get an answer.I would recommend The Pond Guy for any job. In fact I have.

From first contact to completion for the pondless waterfall stream (don't know what else to call it, it's not a true waterfall, but it is fabulous) it was about 3 weeks. we researched this throughly. The actual start to finish of the work was about two and a half days. Mostly because it was so darn HOT. A day or so before work was to begin, I believe it was a Wed, I received an email stating they were available to begin work ahead of schedule. We got home from work and we could see the basic pond. Our excitement grew. When we arrived home Friday after work and I looked out back and the water feature was flowing. It sounded and looked great. Other than the new stream we wouldn't have known anyone was ever there. The work and workers were professional. I would recommend The Pond Guy, Omaha for any landscaping job.
Description of Work: We worked with Todd and his team twice. Last year we hired him to work on a drainage issue we had. Todd had some great ideas and worked with us on what we wanted. We were extremely pleased with the work. We discussed a water fearture at that time, but we decided to wait. When the summer rolled around the idea of a water feature stayed on our minds. So we called Todd. We talked about different ideas and what we were hoping to gain from the pond. We have a flat yard so we had concerns. After talking with Todd's other clients and attending a function hosted by The Pond Guy Inc, we decided to move forward and set a date for work to begin. Todd came out a few days before and spent a good hour or so with us. We reviewed our original plan and then decided we wanted more. Todd told us what would work what wouldn't work and why. We agree to do our own electrical and go puchase specific lights and a transformer I was amazed. Normally the person we hire would do everything to make money. Todd worked with us to save money AND get what we want. The work was done quickly and effeciently. The Pond Guy Inc put in a 25+ ft pondless waterfall stream in our yard. It has the sound appearance of a natural stream. I came home and found the work completed and I was giddy. Although i didn't think possible I was even more delighted when the lights came on and lit up the stream. We were the talk of the neighborhood. One neighbor told me she was happy, she sits out on her deck and listens and watches our waterfearture. Todd and his crew are pleasant hard working fun easy going down to earth people. Todd is easy to talk to and very knowledgable. Not to mention he shoots from the hip.
