+ 1 moreJay was incredibly professional, and he did an amazing job. Although the job took longer than he expected, he did things correctly and he took his time to do it right. He made sure I was happy with everything as he was doing it. Another thing I respected was that he was extremely clean when he was working - I never came home to a house that was destroyed; the floors were clean (even before the floors were redone), any tools were put away and not laying around, wherever he had tool boxes or tools, he protected the surface that it was on (be it old flooring or new counters). I enjoyed working with Jay, and I have hired him for another job already. I highly recommend using him for your next home remodel. He did exactly what he said he would do, and was willing to do extra items that came up (hooking up appliances, moving water lines) to make sure I was satisfied with the finished project.

I think the job was actually a little bit small compared to what he usually does, but he could tell we needed some help and didn't have any big jobs so he actually came back the next day and did the job. I would recommend him to just about anyone. Great work, great service!

+ 3 moreIt went great! I met with Jay prior to buying the tub and surround and he gave me good advice about what would work best for my bathroom. He estimated the job would take a week and it did. He's punctual, professional and very careful in his work. I hired him based on the reviews from Angie's list and am so glad I did--very happy with the result and would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed bathroom wall tile and tub. Re-insulated wall, installed new tub and surround and resurfaced wall where needed. Repaired/replaced water damaged sub-floor and installed new flooring. Installed new vanity top.

+ -1 moreFrom start to finish Jay was professional. I knew from the issues I'd had with my old door that removing them might be challenging. He was very good about cleaning up the mess and being organized. His work was definitely a grade A. I would definitely give him a all again and will give his name out to friends. I've learned from the past that cheaper is not always better. I called around and got lower costs, but I wanted someone who would do a good job.
Description of Work: Jay removed my side exterior door and storm door and installed the new doors I'd purchased. It was time consuming but he made it look simple. Of course he knew what he was doing which is why I employed him to install them.

+ -1 moreHis estimate was substantially lower than the other I received. Since this was our primary bath and we did the demo work, we needed a good start date. It was a little hard to get this, as the start date depended on when he could finish his previous job. Got notice that he could start a few days out and we hadn't done the demo yet. In the end it worked out - we got it done that weekend and he started the next Monday. He estimated that it would take about ten days, and that was how it worked out. We communicated pretty regularly and were able to make slight adjustments when necessary. We paid half the estimate cost up front, with the remainder due on completion.
Description of Work: We took the walls down to the studs and took up the flooring. He leveled the floor and put in a new subfloor, put in a new ceiling, installed new tub & surround, put up drywall with texture, and put in grouted vinyl tiles. He also made modifications to the existing plumbing and electrical and installed a new vent fan.

+ 7 moreI had gotten three estimates. Jay's was not necessarily the least expensive, but we felt that he was more willing to work with what we had. Jay was very willing to work within our budget. He offered suggestions to reduce costs. The basement remodel turned out better than I had imagined it could. He performed all of the work with the exception of the carpeting--we hired a carpet place to do that installation. He was pleasant and easy to work with.
Description of Work: Jay remodeled our basement, including two bedrooms, family room, and bathroom. This involved demolition of the 1970's decor, installing braces, installation of a new jacuzzi, toilet, and sink. Installation of linoleum in the bathroom. Putting up new walls and doors, framing windows, drywall, painting, closets, shelving and canned light fixtures.

+ 4 moreEverything went very well. He gave me an estimate and that is what he charged. There were no hidden surprises after the work was completed. I am very pleased with the work he has done and I get lots of compliments on my bathroom remodel!
Description of Work: My bathroom remodel was done in December 2008. It began with a frozen water pipe! I ended up having the tub removed which just progressed to redoing the bathroom. In the end, there was a window that was replaced with glass blocks (which I love) and the outdated mini-tiles in the shower were replaced with large ceramic tiles. Jay also made a baseboard out of these tiles which really adds to the decor. He also had to replace some drywall in the bathroom. I love my new bathroom! Jay has also replaced all of the windows in my home. He is very particular about his work and I have had absolutely no problems at all and they are air tight. In addition, he has replaced interior doors and has also done my window trim, baseboards, and chair rail. His attention to detail is incredible. He also has great ideas for what works, what doesn't, and suggestions on how to make things different. I have also had Jay install a garbage disposal for me. He truly is a handy man!
