Schauer Construction

I saw the Schauer trailer in my neighborhood for about a week as Jerry was working on driveways for three of my neighbors. I figured if that many were having work done with him I'd see how much to place a new concrete garage floor. I previously received a quote to have it lifted for $1500 and when I got his bid of $1800 for new concrete there wasn't even a question on what to do.

It is scheduled for next week. They were very responsive. It was in my budget and I heard that they are a good company.

Found them on Angie's List. Very responsive. Gave a reasonable quote and billed that amount. Showed up the next week, the date and time promised. Finished the work in one day. Cleaned up very well. The owner stopped the next day to re-inspect the work. We were very pleased and impressed. Will use them again.

I have used him before and he was great. This time I explained over the phone what was occurring with the concrete. After postponing the first appointment to come out because he was caught up on a job, he came out and looked at what was needed. Great. He said he would get an estimate to me. Great. He never called. NOT great. 2 days later, I called him. I told him I didn't know if he was still interested in the job. I gave him the opportunity to be up front with me since I know many of the construction companies only want big jobs. He said he was on another job and had the estimate at home. He said he would call when he got home. Never called. I understand that the job I needed was small but the lack of forthrightness and communication was very disappointing.

Went very well jerry, the owner is very personable person and very freindly he booked our driveway and gave us a start date. He called us a week before the start date to make sure it was still convenient for us to start. Him and his crew showed up on time and tore out and had every thing poured with in 2 days.. His crew even brought in black dirt to put in along the new concrete. Everything was cleaned street was swept and driveway turned out awesome, we will also hire Schauer. Construction again for our roofing project...

Jerry, the owner, is friendly and clearly customer focused. He showed up the same day I called to provide an estimate. He called to confirm time and gave notice of when he would arrive. He was able to come back and do the job 2 days later. He arrived a few minutes early (a nice surprise!) and finished within 45 minutes. The bill was decent. We now want him to do other projects.

We had Shauer Construction pour and stamp a colored concrete patio for us. The patio looks great and the work was done on time. My husband, who works from home, told me there was a bit of cussing from one of the workers when the old patio proved difficult to remove, but overall all went well.

He originally quotes me at $950 for a 11X13 slab. Our backyard has a slope so I expected they would dig it out or lay dirt. He said the best way would be to pour it thicker on one side to level it out (this ended up drastically increasing the cost). Because of the regulations on the shed we were building we had to go with a 8X10 slab instead. Despite the obvious decrease in sq ft, it ended up being $100 more then his estimate somehow. He also left cement debris all over the yard. The side of slab had cement edges comin out almost 3 inches in some parts. He said he would come back and pick up the yard the next day and never did. I'm still taking up rocks of cement.

It went very well. We found the company on Angie's List and selected it because of the good ratings. The owner, Jerry Schauer, called me back within a few hours of my initial call. He came out to look at the project and to give me an estimate the same evening. We accepted the bid and scheduled the work. Jerry confirmed the schedule the day before. He arrived on time with his crew and they went to work. He has come back to check on the project 2x in 24 hours. When the project was finished, he returned to clean up the site. The work is well done and just what we wanted. Jerry is easy to work with and very professional. He explained what he was going to do, how long it would take and gave us an estimate that was reasonable and accurate.

The estimates were almost always right to the $ unless I made an addition to the job. He and his crew show up on time and don't leave a big mess behind when they leave. Working with Schauer Construction makes taking on a big project seem less stressful knowing the work will be done correctly.
