Rydell Chevrolet was founded by Leonard Rydell (1913-2000) who started in the car business in the 1940's in Montgomery, Minnesota. In 1954, at Chevrolet's request, he moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota to operate the Chevrolet dealership. Leonard had many strongly held business and personal philosophies that served him well. These philosophies, known as "Leonardism's", help guide our group through our daily business and personal decisions. In 1976, Leonard sold the business to his son, Wes. Under Wes' direction, Rydell Chevrolet converted to the one price, no hassle, no haggle pricing policy that is followed today. In subsequent years, Rydell Chevrolet added Cadillac, Oldsmobile, GMC, Pontiac & Buick franchises to their lineup in Grand Forks. In 2005, we added the Saturn brand to our model lineup in Grand Forks. In 1980, Leonard and Wes helped one of their managers purchase a dealership in Mandan, North Dakota. Their goal was to help that manager to eventually own the dealership outright. The plan worked and Leonard and Wes have repeated the process with many other managers since then. The Rydell Group has now grown to 68 dealerships in 11 states and continues to grow to this day.

Took my van in for an oil change and a few days later noticed my windshield wipers weren't working. They check all aspects of a vehicle (and charge extra for that) and since they were the last ones to turn them on, and they were working before that, I wondered if they had damaged them but let it go, assuming it must have been a coincidence. A few months later, I took my car in for an oil change. Two months later, I left the lights on in the car and needed to jump the battery but found the hood release was broken. The last time the hood had been opened had been at Rydell's for the oil change. I spoke with them about it and first they said I should have towed it there for repair, then said it mattered how many miles had been put on the car (only 44 miles), then said they had to see the car (so I took it in), then said they needed the receipt for the oil change and the repair to the hood release(which I mailed to them) and then they said they would get back to me. That was weeks ago and after making me jump through all those hoops, they never got back to me. The technician who broke the hood release obviously knew he broke it but didn't tell me which could have been a huge problem if I had been out of town and had trouble with the car and found out the hood couldn't be opened. They're careless when working on cars for something as simple as an oil change, they're deceitful if they cause damage, and they don't have the courtesy to try and resolve problems. It would have gone a long way if they had simply said "We're sorry about your hood release and we'll try to do better" rather than making me go through all that and never even apologize or get back to me as promised.

Description of Work: I dropped my vehicle off at an appointment time of 730 am. They were supposed to check out my service suspension error message, change my oil, find out where if any oil leaks were, flush the antifreeze, change plugs and wires, and wash the engine bay. By 330 pm when i called to see what was up all they had done was check the suspension and said it would be about $2500 to fix. I told them I need to pick up the vehicle at 6 pm, they said no problem. when I got there at 545 pm all that was done was oil, found some leaks (fix cost over $500-to drop oil pan) and they were working on the plugs and wires. Something broke, plugs I think so they didn't charge me or didn't charge me full price for that portion. I said forget the rest, I have to go!

They have previously changed oil using Mobil 1 that I provided. All my service on 2007 has been performed at Rydell because of the quality of work. I even replace by tires before they needed it because of the great deal they provided.

good work, a very pleasant experience. They have good people working here and an extremely clean professional well equipped shop. The botique waiting area with free coffee, beverages, cookies and pastry, TV and WiFi doesn't hurt either. I love that they have extended hours (midnight) with drive up no appointment service. This is rare in ND.

They were SUPER expensive! Where other shops were quoting me between $200 and $350, Rydell's was saying it was going to cost almost $900 I found myself thinking that water pump had better have been gold plated! I know that, had I chosen Rydell's, it would have been done right the first time, and I'd have walked away a happy, satisfied customer. But not at that price. They are the place to go if you want some peace of mind, knowing that things will be done right. Not the place to go if you want something a little easier on the pocketbook.

I would say for the most part the services performed went well. I was disappointed in the communication that the Service center had with me. I dropped off my car first thing Friday morning, the service rep said they would call me back when they found out what was going on. I called at about 3 in the afternoon (approx. 7 hours later) to get an update, I was transferred to voicemail, left a message, and was not contacted back. I called at approx. 4:30 and spoke to a different rep that said they were able to change my oil, but had not yet looked at the electronic system and would not be able to get to it until the next day. This would have been fine if I would have known that upfront.
