+ -1 moreTook 6 months to get the doors and another 6 to get installed after wrong product ordered the first time. NUMEROUS fitment issues with installation that remain unfixed. NO customer service, NO follow up. They knew they couldn't get the job done timely and took my deposit as hostage so I couldn't bail and go elsewhere I would buy doors at a thrift store before buying from these guys again.

+ -1 moreWe ordered a patio door in August 2017 and were told they were 8 weeks out in their scheduling. He thought that October was probably the time frame we were looking at. I thought it would be done at a earlier date but talked myself into October. Well nothing happened that month so my husband stopped at their place of business and it seemed very unorganized, we never felt like we could get any straight answers. I never thought it would take so long to get a door. I have a friend who built a new house, totally finished it off and moved in sooner than we got our door. If I had known how long this would take from start to finish I would have definitely bought from a different organization. I would never have them again do anything for us.

Description of Work: I had one of your representatives visit my home in probably early May to get a quote for storm windows, and I never received a quote nor was contacted back by the rep. The summer passed and I called Nelson Window again to ask about the quote, and I spoke to the same representative on the phone. He remembered my house and the window issues I had, and he said he wasn't sure what he did with the paperwork but that he'd look around for it and if he couldn't find it, someone would come out again. However, I still did not hear from him and a month passed. I then sent an email to the company to explain I was really interested in the particular brand of windows they carried and that I was contacting them to make one more attempt to see if I can have someone come out and do a quote for me. The same rep called me and again said wasn't sure what happened to the paperwork and he sounded like he wanted to be very flexible for me for scheduling and came out within a few days to do another visit. I never received a quote. I am very disappointed and I did all I could as a normal consumer but I was in essence ignored and I was very frustrated. It seemed very clear they did not want my business and I am not sure why. I am not going to do business with this company again unfortunately. There is nothing I need from them to resolve this issue, but the one thing I can do is submit a rating on Angie's List so that other consumers are aware of my experience and through this the company can address the type of situation I was experiencing so it doesn't happen to someone else like me again. They have been well-respected for years in town and I am surprised to have had this experience. | | | | |

+ -1 moreThey took a long time to contact me to schedule an estimate. They also took a long time to send me an estimate. I had to call them in order to get it sent to me. They are supper high for vinyl windows and installation. Other companies have high quality vinyl windows for way less. If you are are going to spend that kind of money, put in Marvin or Anderson windows.

+ -1 moreThey provided an estimate within just a few hours of initial consulation and measurement. Cost included custom-made glass and installation (about $150/window). Took less than 2 weeks to order the glass. Installation was fast, efficient and professional.
Description of Work: Replaced double-pane glass in 5 crank-out windows. Original window glass would cause condensation that froze in winter.

+ -1 moreAfter several years of basically ignoring condensation on these windows I started removing the inside trim last summer. When I did I found that much of the window frame and some of the seat supports were rotted out. Nelson Window had done some work for us before so after pricing the replacement hardware at a local hardware store I called Nelson for an estimate. Their estimate was about $1,000 for labor; since there was no way I could move a several-hundred-pound window seat myself it seemed worth it. Once we put down a deposit we had to wait a couple months until the windows were made at the factory and ready to install. The waiting is a bit of a hassle because you find out a few days before they install when it is going to be. Once the job began they did a good job. The only reason I reduced the quality rating a little bit is that some of the outside trim and caulking wasn't done. The reason is good...you can't prime wood or caulk in Moorhead in February because it is too cold. I wouldn't have marked them down at all had I known in advance that a bit of the outside trim would be left unfinished. Overall I was happy with the quality and value of the work.
Description of Work: A large (72 inch) window seat in the front of our house was replaced. The old window was removed and the new one, including indoor and outdoor trim, was installed. Indoor trim was left unfinished at our request to save some money.
