We used Cougar Tree Service in the past and gave them top ratings. But our next experience with them has been frustrating and unproductive. We called them about ONE YEAR ago to remove tree that was partially downed in a storm, resting on another tree over our yard, and as such deemed a hazard. I was told he was busy with lots of other situations from that storm and would be out in a couple of weeks. We also have a lot of deadwood that he identified as needing to be removed the first time he did work here but said he would do that later. I have contacted him several times over the past year and am always told the same thing, he'll do the job and be out in a couple of weeks. I do not know another service that can do the work in this location but am going to have to start calling. If he would only say that he's not doing the job that would be preferable to always being assured he will be here to do it soon. He even visited our home this spring to give an estimate finally but still a no show. The last times I have attempted to call I have not gotten an answer.
Description of Work: No service performed, although continually promised. I marked that I would use this company again in the future because at this point I do not know of another that will perform the service we need.

We had a very large dead tree that had "fallen" but was being supported by other trees. This happened in the fall and another tree service had said they couldn't do anything about it as they would have to get trucks back behind the house and the ground was too soft. As the tree was in the river bed during flood levels and close enough to fall on our house we became concerned with a flood forecast and called Cougar Tree Service. He agreed to do the job and scheduled it 6 days after initial contact. He was punctual, professional, and took out a very difficult tree by climbing it and cutting it bit by bit. He had employees that helped for safety and clean up. They hauled away wood and branches through deep snow. They would have (and planned to) clean all the wood away but I told them they could leave it and we would finish it when the snow was gone (and use it for firewood). They stacked what was left neatly and discounted the charge from the bid for the job. He also gave advice on other tree trimming projects and we will have him back to remove dead limbs from other trees when it isn't such a dangerous time to be working on them.
Description of Work: Removal of a very large dead tree that was being held up by other trees. Clean up and removal of debris. Work required climbing of the tree due to its precarious position in proximity to the house and inaccessibility by trucks with cherry pickers. The job was performed at a time of year that was difficult to be working in but was done to protect the home from the tree falling when river waters rose in the spring.
