I personally wrote a letter to the company president outlining everything that I had requested, the written order as to what to check out first, the request for a call if the price exceeded $79 , the option to apply some of the money for service towards a refurbished model that was on sale if the repair cost would be too much, etc and how the Technician didn't even introduce himself to me when I first dropped off the PC, not having any tact or general civility to a customer. The president called and left a voice mail message telling me he would give me a $68 refund. I stopped by the next day topic kit up and that is when another Tech told me there was not any check left for me, but just leave it with him and he would take care of it. I got a call with four hours saying it was fixed and all that was wrong was the power unit. I went there with 10 minutes to pick it up and the Tech was already gone to lunch (10 am?) and wasn't available for comment or discussion on some financial reimbursement for performing work that wasn't" agreed upon, damaging the unit, lying about changing the battery, putting in a $12 power supply (I verified that amount on four different Web sites), installing software I did not need or want...I have Norton 360 that has protected my PC for more than 10 years without incident, etc.... I once again wrote a detailed and specific (polite) letter to the President outlining in agonizing detail what happened when and what was done and mailed it be Certified US mail. He never apologized, never offered to make it right nor did he offer any financial corrections; especially when he originally offered to cut a check for me after my first complaint and put in a $12 correction (power unit) and somehow I guess he has bigger fish to fry than making it right, i.e. a breach of agreement, damaging my unit , failing to correctly reattach wires and the like, with a disabled old man who bothered his staff of professionals with annoying interruptions while they have corporate clients with deep pockets to attend to. I was truly surprised with their lack of concern to address my concerns, for ignoring my initial work order instructions ad suggestions as to what needed to be checked out before anything else (power unit) was done, forgetting to reattach wires in the unit, loading unwanted and clearly not needed software, breaking a plastic latch on the front panel, saying that they replaced a battery when they did not, not using my special thumb screws to secure the side panel, etc... Where is their quality control (ISO standards), customer service and just plain civility and sense of fairness? Months have lapsed since I contacted the President, so I imagine that is that and I just have to learn to lie with it. If I had access to legal counsel I would have sought legal remedy for they way they wronged me, but my budget goes to medical bills instead. As the old adage says "no one said life is fair".. I could not recommend this business to anyone, and I learned get everything in writing.
Description of Work: I have done business with this company for over three years ans spent thousands of dollars. My first bad experience was in 2008 when I bought a new MacBook Pro. I was sold a service plan with Apple for hundreds of dollars and was told that it covered accidental damage. I bought the service and months later my wife accidentally spilled tea on the keyboard causing it to short out. When I went to get it repaired the technician was rude and said it had been abused and was not covered. Well my wife was seriously ill and couldn't help the accident; my wife is now terminally I'll and they knew I had bought the unit for our trips to Mayo clinic. Well thet cost me over $1,500 out of pocket. I never would have gotten the service plan if it did not cover accidental coverage....Best Buy did provide complete coverage with the same package at that time, but we're all sold out and we needed to unit right away and when the sales clerk said the plan covered accidental damage I assumed he was telling me the truth because I knew that Best Buy did the same thing. I have spoken with some of the techs over the years when I came in to buy some parts and they knew I have been building my own PC's for over 30 years and was at a high level of proficiency with understanding issues. I recently took my PC in because the power kept going off. I told them to please check the power supply first and then the Motherboard as I was pretty sure that was the problem. I also asked that if the repairs were over $79 to call before repairing as they had some refurbished units on sale I might want to buy instead of fixing my old unit. They decided to "fix it", called me and whenI showed up they charged me $168 (both my owife and I are on disability and they know this), they remembered my request but did nothing. I went home and the next morning it didn't work, so I took it back to them, they offered a $63 refund without doing any more work on it, but finally one tech took it and said he would fix it. He fixed it by replacing the defective power unit (this is what I told themI thought the problem was when I first dropped it off). They returned the unit I took it home and the next day tried to play a CD and had to take the panel off and discovered that they didn't reconnect the power cord to the CD player and tha my special thumb screws that are used for easy access to accessing the panel were missing and also that my front panel had a broken plastic holder. When I had first picked up the PC I was told that it was inoperative because it had a virus and they had to install a special virus scan for $99, but they could only leave a sample subscription on the unit and I would have to pay a hundred dollar plus subscription to activate. They also said they replaced the motherboard battery, but I know they didn't because I replaced it before doing my own diagnostics before brining it in the first time and accidentally scratched it, well that same scratch was there when I opened up the panel when I got home.
