Update: Sued Scott Peterson. Won the case and the judge awarded full payment. No doubt this proves that all below is true. I would also not use Peterson Roofing in Fargo, his brothers company, who Scott Peterson said was his partner. They advertise using on some sites using the same number and use the same billing address. The history: I hired Scott Peterson at A+ Roofing to do two roofs for me this summer. The first was my lake cabin. I also hired Peterson to do my roof on my Fargo home. The issues below are a result of the work done on the Fargo home. I hired Peterson in July of 2013 to replace a wood shake roof on the main part of my house. The three car garage roof (attached) and an extension to the house already had a new roof which was put on when the addition was put on earlier in the year. The section of roof that needed a new roof was only approximately 60 feet by 25 feet. The roof was an A shape with no dormers or any other angles. I’m not a roofer, but it appears with a straight roof, it should have been a very, very easy job. Three roofers that came over today to quote the damage said the roof should not have taken any longer than one week to complete. Peterson told me (promised) the job would take at most one week to complete. The job took over 6+ weeks to “complete” and still counting… As of the writing of this, the roof leaks and Peterson will not come back and fix it. Absolutely no replies to any calls or texts. I would absolutely NOT recommend Peterson or A+ Roofing to do any work on your home. Below are some of the highlights: Scott Peterson would show up at my house and then would proceed to take naps. Yes, literally. One day actually on the roof, sleeping on stacks of shingles. He would lie down and sleep in my yard, to the point where my son would have to call me at work to tell me he was sleeping in the yard again for hours. On another day, I found Peterson asleep in his truck behind my garage. He pulled his truck on my lawn and parked it in the shade behind the garage so that he could sleep. It took me three times to wake him up. One night he slept in his truck on my lawn when I was out of town. Said he had car trouble and cell phone trouble…. In addition, trying to get Peterson to come to work on the roof was almost a daily occurrence. To top it off, he was constantly asking for more money, telling me he had no money for gas so he would not be able to come back and finish. I tried to call other roofers, but unfortunately, they were booked out for a few months and none of them could finish. I had a roof that was completely stripped and exposed to the elements. I had to stick with Peterson as no one else could do it for months. I also called his brother at Peterson Roofing in Fargo, who Scott Peterson said he worked with/partnered with; but he would not help. In fact he was extremely negative when I called. He said they were separate companies, although he seemed to know an awful lot about my house and detailed specifics of the job status, including how much I was paying. At this point, I’m not sure what their business relationship is. I do know Scott brought one of the people that works for Peterson Roofing, his brother’s company, to my house one day to help. I also saw on some websites they have the same business number. For example, at SalesSpider.com (http://www.salespider.com/bn-91728862/1-701-793-0273) it says the number Peterson Roofing advertises as their contact/business number is owned by A+ Roofing, or Scott Peterson’s company. Other websites they have different numbers. On a lot of sites they have the same billing address. Again, I don’t know if the internet is true, so I am not going to say if they are connected or not. I have my strong suspicions, but I will leave it at that. Best advice would be Caveat Emptor (buyer beware). It should also be noted that Scott Peterson hired people with no absolutely no experience. Peterson told me, after one of them severely damaged my deck (see below), that he hired the guy from the homeless shelter. These guys would work for a few days and then suddenly not show. When I discovered Peterson was hiring these people with no experience, I told him I only wanted experienced people. From that day on, just one person who worked for his brother showed up, but just for one day - then no one else showed. It was just Scott Peterson. To add insult to injury, at the end, Peterson told me he had taken everything to a Pawn shop, so he no longer had any tools. Finally, Peterson and his guys took all the remains from the roof (wood shakes with nails) and put them on a tarp and dragged them across a 50 foot section of a brand new composite deck that ran the length of my house. The deck was (is) brand new; so new the seats were not even done. This put around 20 very, very deep scratches in the deck. Ruined it. To date, Peterson has not fixed it. He came out and made a halfhearted attempt to sand it, but left long before it was done. Again, no return calls or texts. In short, I could not make up the stuff that was done by Peterson at A+ Roofing. I would absolutely NOT HIRE Peterson for any job. In my opinion, he is NOT skilled at roofing; note above where the roof is still leaking and he will not come back. He left me with a leaking roof and a damaged house that will cost me thousands to repair. Footnote: Had I done my homework I would have seen that he has two Better Business Bureau complaints already. Now he has another. I would also suggest people go to: http://publicsearch.ndcourts.gov/default.aspx this is a North Dakota site that shows judgments again people and their status. Go to “judgment searce,” then “all north Dakota” and enter his name.
