Regional Waterproofing was on time and provided me with a report on the crawlspace. We both crawled under the house to have an on-the-spot evaluation of each item.
Description of Work: Regional Waterproofing crawled under my house and evaluated the crawlspace prior to my selling the house. I as provided with an book on Waterproofing the crawlspace and I would have done the job if I had not been in the process of selling the house.

We did this in 2 phases to be sure the water remediation was effective before sealing and encapsulating. Phase 1 consisted of installing additional drain tile (trenching, flexible pipe, gravel) in the area of the springs. This was quite effective even during the rainy fall season in Raleigh. 100% dry, no more mud or odors. Phase 2 was easier for the crew, since the area was dry. Encapsulation was done very well, sealed up nicely.
Description of Work: Crawlspace water remediation made necessary by underground springs. Insulate the outside walls and encapsulate the space.

I have called and emailed several times over the past months trying to see if we can get the deposit back. The job is being done for a church, not me personally. I reviewed the contract details and had attorney friends review it and there is no statement that the deposit cannot be returned. Our church really needs the money back. I am quite put out that they did not return calls or emails.
Description of Work: At first, the provider was very thorough in the assessment and planning process. We had to postpone and then cancel the service due to factors other than the provider. I began trying to get the deposit back in July and have had NO response from the company. They did not do any work on the project and their contract does not say that you cannot get the deposit back

The deposit became non-refundable, because of the expenses Regional had already incurred as a result of the notice to precede with the work, we received from the Church. The cost to Regional, as a result of this notice from [member name removed], far exceeded the amount of the deposit, and the request for a refund came 42 days after [member name removed] and the Church authorized Regional to purchase materials and proceed with the installation. Our company policy is clearly explained on the contract [member name removed] signed and is noted below. [member name removed] signed and agreed to a contract with Regional on June 20, 2014, and she was given an installation date of July 3, 2014. On June 28, she emailed her consultant, stating that “the electricity would be off for a few hours,” and to see if we wanted to reschedule the job for July 2nd or postpone it until the following week. We made special accommodations to fit her on our schedule, while working with her, to fit hers. We eventually had an installation date of July 16th, which according to another email from [member name removed] was a “perfect” day for her. On the morning of the 16th, she contacted our office stating that, once again, due to electrical issues, the work would have to be postponed. On August 1st, we received a follow-up email from [member name removed] stating, that they would be cancelling the installation, for the time being and requested the deposit back. If [member name removed], along with her commented attorney friends had reviewed thoroughly, the details of the contract, they would have noticed on page 6, the “Notice of Right to Cancel” page specifically states in the first paragraph, “you have a legal right to void the contract or sale by notifying us within three business days…….” As clearly noted, from the emails, the time frame between when we received the signed contract on June 20th to August 1st, when she requested the deposit back, was a total of 42 days. At that point, the job had been rescheduled and postponed at least 3 times, including the same day of the scheduled job, after all materials had been ordered and prepared for installation.

We offer a Best Price Guarantee to our customers. All of our installations are permitted & inspected and meet all local building codes, and are also backed with a 25 year warranty. We offered wall insulation, encapsulation, along with a San-Dry dehumidifier with a GFI outlet. Our price also included, removing existing insulation & debris, along with treating the crawlspace for mold & fungus growth. All of this was at a discounted price. Other customers who have purchased a similar system from Regional during the same time period felt that the pricing was very fair. We are not sure what other competition offered. Thank you, Team Regional

I obtained 4 quotes with Regional the most polished, receiving the highest ratings on this board, and being advertised / recommended by Dave Ramsey - and the most expensive by far. The presentation of the quote was extensive and clearly a lot of money has been put into the presentations (Regional may be connected with Basement Systems in some way as the material refers to them). The literature is glossy and the photos/videos inspire confidence. The material advertised appears to be proprietary and you are left to believe that these materials are specifically designed for the job after years of experience and therefore cost more. I found very similar products on the web at very reasonable prices so I suspect there is some margin stacking but that is to be expected. The quote I received was a form and did not accommodate special instructions in the main body. Notes are placed on page two at the bottom. I recommend you ensure everything you want / discuss / agree to verbally is in this section and assume nothing is understood even if you have emails – the quote rules (sort of). I sent several emails trying to confirm exactly what was to be covered. In the end it did not matter. I recommend being very careful about what you sign – do not think “well, we discussed this and they said they would take care of it … put it in the contract. The project was scheduled in January for an early March install based on backlog - but I got a call asking to do the install in early February because "they were caught up". That wouldn't work for our schedule so it was a no go but sounded crazy to me anyway - how could they clear their backlog that fast - or did a customer cancel or complete early and they wanted to shoe me in? Does it matter? At the time I thought no, however, upon reflection it along with the quote process were warning flags. As the install date approached we were getting ice and lots of rain so I requested a delay for the weather to clear and they were accommodating. The crew arrived on Monday March 10th around 0930. They were very polite and began work straight away. I believe in the adage - you get what you inspect not what you expect - so I kept an eye on their progress. I noticed they brought a stack of 10' perforated PVC (which sells at the big box stores for about $7.50 each). I asked what that was for because I was quoted the Basement Systems trademarked SmartPipe that was presented during the quote and in the literature as being far superior to perforated PVC. I questioned the foreman who said I had to call my salesman who told me "after speaking with the production manager the PVC is actually better and is not going to cost extra". Really? Then why was that not presented in the quote as the best option? In fact - it was never presented as an option at all. I am convinced that had I not been there it would have been installed and hidden under the plastic. I offered to accept the PVC for a deduction on the quote but after speaking "with the owner" my salesman said they would provide what was ordered. Work was halted as they had to order the material for arrival Wednesday the 12th. That evening I looked over the work performed and found they had installed the new door. It was a slab of 1/2" PVC sheet material with some molding that had been attached to the old existing rotted jambs. I could not believe a professional company would do that. Removing the old rotted wood and installing new pressure treated wood would take no more than 30 minutes and the material might cost $10. After further inspection I found a saw cut in top middle of the door about 2.5" long filled with caulk to hide it. I called my salesman who explained that they only quoted the door and not replacing the rotted jambs. Wow! He had nothing to say about the cut they tried to hide. Because the crawlspace was very muddy the workers left some dried mud on the driveway so I went out to sweep it up before it got tracked into the house. That is when I noticed mud and scratches on the corner molding of my house. Clearly they had hit it with something. Not that big a deal but still noticeable. So - another email and call ... On Wednesday afternoon the crew returned with the proper pipe and set to work. I met with the installation foreman at 5 and we discussed the door - he also said it was not their responsibility but he wanted me to be happy so they would correct. Good - but what a hassle to get something done right the second time. He had no comment on the cut they tried to hide. We discussed the damage to the house and he told me they cleaned it up for me but in no way did they hit it. The crew returned Thursday around 0930 and got straight to work. They were done at 3 and called me (and spoke to my wife) saying they were through – job complete – and wanted me to inspect. That evening I thoroughly inspected the work. The door was fixed properly, the crawlspace was drained, matted, lined, sump installed, and all was cleaned. Very Nice. The sump line was lacking an Ice-Guard system and the joists had not been cleaned with Mold-X as specified. Also, there was still no resolution on the damaged siding. Another email and call to my salesman. He disputed the Ice Guard requirement as not being on the formal quote and after review – he is correct. However, I also have 3 separate emails each calling for the Ice-Guard system. Clearly, I expected it but I relented. As for the cleaning with the Mold-X I was now told they really weren’t through but that we needed to be out of the house for three hours because of fumes. News to me but okay – I agreed to vacate but needed to plan so this would need to be done the 17th or 18th. And, I still wanted resolution on my damaged siding. Friday morning (14th) I received a call from my salesman who said he had reviewed the job with “the owner” who stated our project was complete and he was to collect. I complained about everything again and said I wanted the Mold-X treatment and my siding fixed. No, he told me that the Mold-X was a complimentary service provided by Regional and while they were going to do it in the spirit of customer care – they were not obligated to (even though it was on the quote). He also told me that he “measured” the damage and in his professional opinion “they” did not do it and were not responsible. I’m not sure how his professional position as crawl space repair salesman qualifies him to make a professional judgment on siding damage – but that is beside the point. The conversation became rather heated and I am embarrassed for losing my temper and being unprofessional. Everyone at Regional maintained a very polite decorum throughout – regardless of the tension. Regardless of how polite they were they did not resolve the open issues. I was told I needed to pay immediately or a lien would be placed on my house. Wow - again. So, on a $5600 project they would rather threaten a customer than fix the siding and take care of the Mold-X. In the heat of the moment I was going to contact my attorney and short pay the invoice in the amount needed to pay someone to complete the job and repair the damaged siding. Instead I opted to pay the bill and be done with Regional. It is not worth the aggravation. In summary – I’m not certain if I would recommend Regional or not. Parts of the job were well done, communication was prompt and polite. However, there was, at the least, a pattern of confusion that at times felt like deception. Once we have a considerable amount of rain I will update this review for the efficacy of the system
Description of Work: remediate standing water in crawlspace, remove debris, install perforated pipe along foundation and connect to sump pump, install drain mat underlayment, install heavy gage liner to within 6" of sill, install new "rot proof" door, and spray with mold inhibitor.

[removed member name] received everything we contracted for, plus additional items, at no cost to him. We thank, [removed member name] for being a customer. We very much appreciate his trust. After we completed the entire project, he voluntarily said the following, “I am 95% happy with Regional Waterproofing,” that bears repeating. After all work was completed and he had personally inspected the entire job, in our opinion, with a magnifying glass, [removed member name] stated, “He was 95% happy with Regional Waterproofing.” That’s amazing, a 95% approval rating!! That means the overall Angie’s List rating according to what [removed member name] said on the phone after all work was completed should read as follows: Overall: A Price: A Quality: A Responsiveness: A Punctuality: A Professionalism: A We did not ask him if he would hire us again, but with a 95% approval we assume he would. The mark on his siding he alluded to was already there before we arrived. The mark is approximately 12inches higher than the wheel well on our trailer that he claims caused the damage; [removed member name] had no answer for this. [removed member name] alleged that we caused the damage and we arranged to meet [removed member name] at his home to review, he never showed up. We made other attempts to meet [removed member name] at his home to address any concerns and to collect payment on the completed work, but he was not sure when he would be available. All work was completed with the specified materials, with the time frame promised, at the agreed to price. The work is warranted as outlined in the contract. [removed member name] is someone who likes to be in full control of all matters, in our opinion, and that’s why we have a contract to ensure both parties honor the agreement. There is much more we can add to this post, we will do so as needed, if needed. Team Regional 1-800-536-6260

They were here when they said they would be, got the job done in the same day. Could have not asked for better service.
Description of Work: We had stone steps that led up to our front porch. With all the rain that summer the back fill for the basement sunk and along with it our stone steps. We took the deck boards up that were in front of the steps. When they got here they dug down to the cement slap under the steps and put three push piers under the slap which jacked the steps back in place with a life time warranty.

Von Bullock came to the house, inspected our crawl space and provided an estimate for two jobs: first replacing old insulation batting between the floor supports with a moisture barrier and insulation that covered the ground under the house and extended up the foundation walls, and second to add foundation supports. He was very knowledgeable about the type of work to be done. Before our meeting he sent materials on the importance of the work to be done, then the meeting lasted three hours and he did his best to sell us what appeared to be more than we needed. For example, the moisture barrier he first mentioned was a certain thickness, but he was willing to give us a 'special' deal on a thinner barrier that was similar to what the competition was recommending. Another example, while we asked for estimates for the two jobs listed above, Regional Waterproofing was at the high end for both estimates, and some competitors that could do both jobs indicated that the foundation support may not be necessary. I thought Regional Waterproofing gave us a sales job rather than a professional estimate.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate for crawlspace insulation and moisture control, and for adding foundation supports.

Mr. [member name removed], In a recent Angie’s List review, you mentioned specifically that I “was very knowledge about the type of work that needed to be done,” thank you for acknowledging my knowledge and expertise in providing a solution to your crawlspace problems. I wanted to take the time to express my appreciation for the invitation to your home to help evaluate the crawlspace problems you and your wife were experiencing. When you called our office, you mentioned specifically with needing help correcting sagging floors in your home/adding additional crawlspace pier support, moisture and mold/fungus growth in your crawlspace. When we are called out for cracking wall and water in the foundation, it is something that requires a thorough assessment which takes time. That was the reason why I used a laser level that allowed you and your wife to see where the settlement was taking place; this lead to a request for a proposal to fix that problem, since sagging floors obviously don't fix themselves. There was definitely a moisture problem in the crawlspace that you were aware of, and I used a moisture and humidity meter to confirm high moisture content in your crawlspace. Closing the crawlspace and pulling required permits was the safe way to approach those issues, and we have two options on liners. All of our clients make choices on liner thicknesses and we do have discounts and sales on a regular basis, so I certainly never want to make you feel they’re being “sold" for more than what they should be paid. In fact, I offered you a "Lowest Price Guarantee" to take advantage of, so I focused on what your concerns were rather than what I could "sell". In addition to the thorough inspection I provided a detailed 5 page proposal detailing the scope of the work needed. The proposal was comprised of only work that you Mr. & Mrs. Mason agreed was needed. The proposal included a detailed layout plan outlining how the work would be installed. After reading your review, I wanted to explain why I was focused on offering a total solution for you and your wife, rather than suppressing some real issues and offering a partial solution just to sell you something. Our competitors will also down play real problems because they don’t have the knowledge or expertise to fix them, and often they have no intention of going through the engineering and permit process that is required. It is also a fact that 14 of the hundreds of installations Our Company has completed so far this year were previously done by one of our competitors. When the customer did not get the promised result from our competitor they called Regional to get the work done properly, which included using the best products, certified installation crew, and obtaining engineering permits and city or county inspections as required, and a 30 year 110,000 customer track record. Again, it was my pleasure to meet and work with you Mr. & [member name removed]. If I can assist you further, please let me know. With Best Wishes, I remain, Von Bullock II Regional Crawlspace and Basement Repair 919-851-4500 office 919-422-0220 mobile 919-269-6788 fax vonjr@regionalwaterproofing.com

From beginning of work ...included removal of all old insulation to end of job ... communications were excellent, timely and professional. Work included the removal of insulation, installing drainage system, "clean space" crawl space, sump pump and de-humidifier. Installation crew members were professional, positive, polite all with an excellent attitude. Clean-up was excellent ... no sign of work being done. Initial contact with office, on site visit with technical representative were all positive. Work to be done was clearly and professional explained were a "layman" could/can easily understand. In short, very pleased from initial contact to completion of job with all of Regional Waterproofing personnel! I plan to use Regional Waterproofing on additional properties in the future.

The actual work took two days, but the crew worked nonstop (except for lunch) and kept the area clean as they worked. Regional Waterproofing was responsive. I was able to schedule an appointment the same day I called. The appointment was inside five days, so I thought their response was excellent. Their representative, David, was punctual, and professional. He was thorough in looking at my foundation, he asked a lot of questions and he the information he shared from his company was very helpful in assessing repair options. I thought their price quote was reasonable, however I chose a different company to do the foundation repair. I am considering using other Regional Waterproofing service for additional work I would like done in the basement.

The salesman was professional- seemed very informative, seemed prepared (except for getting me the reading materials on the service prior to our scheduled meeting as expected- so I did not have a pre-informed initial meeting), he took photos and confirmed the need for this service. (We had already had our bug people tell us the water content of our foundation was getting too high. This was a second opinion.) My husband and I decided to go with the company that seemed more expert in the business, Regional, since that was their focus. Over a series of phone calls, we scheduled the service. Subsequent calls with the Regional office showed a double-booked installaton, which was corrected. From that point to installation day, several weeks, we heard nothing more than financial things related to the cost. I called Regional the day before the scheduled installation, and wanted to be sure I should not have received information or further instructions. I was told I did not need anything more, to expect the workers at 8AM the next day. The day of installation, I was called at 8:30 AM by the salesperson, and told the installation would not happen in all likelihood due to a glitch the day before in the location scheduled for the day before me. I work part-time and scheduled this installation for a day when I was going to be home, and now the date was changing to a date when I had to work! I was not happy... but asked if I had to be home for the next day- specifically for electrical work associated with the dehumidifier instalation. I was told that IF the electrician need to get into my house or garage, he "could come back at my convenience."..... wrong-o! I went to work the next day, the men came after I left the house, and then I got a call around 9:30AM that the electrician HAD to get into my garage....NOW. Well, I could not leave work, and the poor man had to wait for me to get home at 1PM. He was sittting in the sun waiting for me- not happy since "this was the second experience like this that week" he said....blaming it on the sales person. he did a great and fast job, and I expressed my displeasure with this experience to the team leader. I became distrustful of the company doing a competant job under my house where I could not see more than the waterproofed materials (and frankly was too terrified to go under the house to see beyond the doorway)...so the local area manager arrived to aliveate my fears (James). He assured me all was done well and exceptionally to code. What I did not realize at that time was "where was the outlet for the moisture that was being taken from our foundation space"....so I looked everywhere around the exterior of the house, especially where the salesperson told me the outlet would be...it was not there or anywhere I could see. A call the next day to Regional (Tim) took a few calls back and forth to get the info I needed- and then was told the drain in under the house into an existing drain! I cannot see it without going all the way under the house....! This was not the experience I thought it would be. I thought I asked ALL the right questions, and then some things beyond that took place to make this less than fabulous. Hopefully the actual drain and dehumidifier will work as promised....we will see the next time the moisture level is checked....
Description of Work: removed old waterproofing materials, laid down new waterproof material, install exit for moisture, installed dehumidifier, cleaned up worksite.

Response from Regional Foundation & Crawl Space Repair
[Member names removed] are very fine people, and we are grateful for the confidence that they placed in our company. That confidence has and will continue to be honored. [member name removed] is correct; we are experts in Crawlspace Repair. On our initial visit and inspection of her home, there was a high humidity and moisture level found in the crawlspace, along with other problems. When our Crawlspace system was installed, (which comes with a 25 year warranty!!) the moisture and humidity levels went down to a level that improved the environment by 80%, and that is a very good thing for [member name removed], her family, and home. Our work started within 24 hours of the original date [member name removed] was given and the work was completed within the time frame that was given, and all the work was completed at the agreed to price. The completed work was successful in significantly reducing moisture and humidity levels in the crawlspace, which is exactly why [member names removed] chose our company to begin with, and that’s why over 110,000 other customers have chosen Regional the last 31 years!! [Member names removed] can request any inspection from our Company at any time to address any concerns. The electrician did not wait for [member name removed] from 9:30am until 1:00pm, as she claims. He arrived at approximately 11:00am, and proceeded to complete his work in the crawlspace which took a period of time. The time difference from when he finished in the crawlspace, and when [member name removed] arrived home was less than 20min, and he waited in his service truck, applying for building permits with the A/C running. [member name removed] claims regarding our electrician are inaccurate. When the job was being installed and completed we invited [member name removed] in the crawlspace to review the scope of the work so that she could see for herself that we had completed all the contracted scope of work and explained the new crawlspace system to her and to address any issue of concern she may have before she paid us. How can you be more transparent, forthright, and trustworthy than that? Despite our request, [member name removed] declined to review the job with us for reason of her own. Additionally, [member name removed] already had a functioning positive drain in her crawlspace, so there was no need to sell her a sump pump or another drain and increase the cost of the project for no reason. This was pointed out to her on the initial visit; most customers value that level of integrity. We have maximum respect for our clients time, and we apologize to [member name removed] for the delay. Regional did not request [member name removed] to take time off from work, neither did she inform us that she planned to do so, nevertheless, our work was completed within the allotted time that we said and agreed to. Most of our clients, do not take time off of work when we are installing our crawlspace system, they will leave the garage door unlocked too so that we may access the panel box. [member name removed] did so for reason of her own. Finally, the City of Raleigh inspected our completed work and has approved the closed crawlspace as meeting or exceeding N.C. Building Codes. We value [member name removed] as customers so much that the consultant personally inspected the completed project to ensure that they got everything that we contracted to do, and to ensure the system is working as designed.

It was a good experience they came out and gave me an estimate. They scheduled a time to do the work and they came out when they said they would. I am happy with the service and the communication they provided. They explained to me what each item that they were using and how it would correct the problem. I would use them again if I needed to.

My crawlspace had high moisture levels, the insulation was damaged and our vapor barrier was moved and had gaps where the bare earth came through. The environment was damp and dirty; ripe for mold, termites and other critters. Von Bullock came out and showed us several options for space encapsulation. Von had a great presentation to explain everything they can do. There were a lot of options to discuss and think about. We chose a mid-level priced option. There was no pressure or push to go with a more expensive alternative. In fact, Von showed us some other higher priced choices, but suggested we didn't need to get those kinds of materials for our house. They removed all of the old insulation and vapor barrier material. They then installed 20 mm clean space material over the ground and up the base of the walls. They installed silver light rigid insulation up the walls, sealed the vents, leaving the required gap for termite inspection. They installed a dehumidifier to maintain the low humidity in the sealed crawl space, which required new electrical wiring. Regional Waterproofing took care of all the permitting. The inspector from my town came out a few weeks after the work was completed and everything looked great to him. The work team was first-rate. They came in the morning, around 10, got right to work and finished the whole job by 5:00 pm. I was concerned because it had been drizzling for most of the morning, but it didn't seem to slow them down. I was given a tour under the house and they showed me everything that was worked on. The job was finished to my complete satisfaction. Now it's clean, bright and dry under my house. Thanks Von and the Regional Waterproofing team.

It went very well. Regional is one of the oldest and most experienced in this business. They are extremely knowledgable which eases your mind to wether you are doing the right thing. The entire process was handled with ease for us as homeowners. They were completely in control of the situation. The crew was very polite, efficient, and kept the job site very clean. After a very stressful discovery of our problem, Regional completely eased our stress and took care of us.
Description of Work: Our garage foundation (under the slab) was holding water from rain due to the topagraphy of our lot and eventually it flooded out. Regional came in and put a drain and pump interior to keep the water from building up and flooding out which erodes the foundation. We also discovered more water damage as we were taking structure apart in order to prepare for the drain. Regional fixed those problems for us as well with no additional charge.
