RWS Construction

Came to give estimate for screened porch. Said he would get me an estimate in a couple of weeks. I didn't receive one so I followed up after about 3 weeks. He said I would have it by the first of the next week. That was about 3 weeks ago and I still have nothing. He seemed like a nice guy and may do great work but after 6+ weeks I will be moving on.

I hired RWS to do some repairs to and renovation of my parents' home to get it ready for sale. In order to minimize the cost, I discussed the necessary prep work with Scott Smith of RWS and then took care of that myself; I also brought in my own painter (as I wanted to work with someone who wouldn't mind if I helped out with the painting) and my own plumber (a pre-existing relationship with which I felt comfortable). Scott and his crew did the following: * Repaired leaks in the roof, including replacing a roof vent. * Removed and replaced ceiling insulation and drywall below the roof leaks. * Installed new carpet in the same room. * Installed crown molding and shoe molding in the same room. * Removed old flooring in the master bath; this included repairing the subfloor in part of the room. * Installed new vinyl flooring and shoe molding in the master bath and kitchen. * Installed new vanity cabinets and sinks in the master bath. * Miscellaneous trim and other carpentry repairs around the house. All work was completed to my satisfaction. There was one disagreement about whether RWS or my painter was responsible for caulking all the new shoe molding. I guess that was the downside to bringing in my own painter, rather than having RWS handle it, and one that I didn't think to clarify before starting the job, but it was a small issue in the greater scheme of things.

We moved here from out-of-state in January 2012. After getting a referral from someone at a church we were visiting, we contacted Scott Smith because we were wanting a bookshelf inside and a detached garage outside. He worked closely with us on the design, how it would blend with the rest of the woodwork and when we could expect to have it installed. Although it was not installed in the time we had discussed, it wasn't that far past the original date (we were aware that he had other jobs as well so that was not a major issue). We were very pleased with his professionalism, his interest in our needs and his and his assistant Roger's workmanship and absolutely love the bookshelf. Unfortunately, we did not get the garage built as other unforeseen issues sprang up with our 6 yr old house (a major leak in master bathroom) which we then had Mr. Smith oversee as the General Contractor. Again, we were very pleased with his professionalism, caring attitude, and making sure the work was done correctly. We would recommend and use RWS Construction again.
