 + -1 moreBack on April 5th, your company completed replacement of my roof. During the time your crew was here I had concerns about the ridge caps on two of the three bay windows and brought my concern to both the installer and the supervisor. The supervisor told me at that time that the installer had been directed to do it that way but if the caps didn't lay down properly to inform you folks at Harbor and you would redo them. On April 10th, Roger came to my home and I wrote a check for final payment on the work and showed Roger the cap issue and pointed out that they still hadn't laid down. Roger asked me to wait just a little longer and if they still weren't right to call him and he would make sure someone came by to fix the issue. On 04/19/2017 I called Roger to request that the ridge caps be redone and he indicated to me that he would be at the office the next day and would make sure that someone would respond. On 04/28/2017, I called Roger again as I hadn't heard or seen anyone from Harbor and that the ridge caps still weren't to my satisfaction. He again indicated that he would let someone at the office know of the problem. It is now 05/12/2017......more than a month since the original install and no one has been out or called to let me know when this will be resolved. Could someone please get in touch with me so that this can be resolved

 + -1 more.Addendum...a month later. The speed with which they tore off the old roof came at a price. They damaged several plants as they pushed material off the roof, including a Japanese maple which will live, but with a main branch broken, will never look okay again. some annuals were damaged beyond recovery. I continue to find old nails in the yard...a couple dozen at least including some in the driveway (under a car I had parked there). And, as I'm preparing to wash my vinyl siding, I'm finding 'skid marks' left by the old shingles hitting the siding on the way down. I would still recommend Harbor to a friend, but more for the price than the quality.
Description of Work: Three guys tore off all of my old shingles and installed new tar paper, new architectural shingles, and a new cap vent in two days. |Harbor Roofing was the cheapest of three bids; SIGNIFICANTLY less than the most expensive. I would have been hesitant taking the lowest bid were it not for the reviews I had seen on Angie's list. Weather is an uncontrollable factor when it comes to roofing, but they got my job done within a few days of the original projection, nonetheless. |The installers worked from 7:30 am until 7:30 pm both days, and,in my opinion, were the most positive aspect of my contact with the company... with this exception;their English was as weak as my Spanish, so communication was difficult. But the salesman, Roger, always answered his phone and I got all of my questions answered and my concerns dealt with. I'm happy with the outcome. The roof looks great and the price was right.

 + -1 moreWe liked the professionalism and friendliness of Roger, our estimator/salesman, from his first visit to our home. We shared our needs and concerns... he immediately understood what we wanted and needed and made the appropriate suggestions, coming up with an extremely fair estimate. We are consumers, who check and double check products. Nate, the owner had no problem with this. He spent time with us discussing options and was more than willing to make changes in our order ,when we decided we wanted different roofing materials and caps. Our roofing supplies arrived a day ahead of the scheduled work day and were neatly stored where we directed. Nate came to our home to inspect the order. The next morning, Harbour Roofing's crew came in in orderly fashion. The first guy came around 8 and started organizing all the tools and everything. The foreman and crew were here by 9. As the work began and continued throughout the day and into the next, we watched these guys work together like a very well choreographed team. They were polite, very quiet and considerate, and forever offering to help me or my two year old grandson, when we were in the yard. Our home is 3,000 sq.ft. with a very angular parts in the roof. We had some bad wood under the roof, which had to be replaced. Nate's crew was here for almost 3 days. At the end of each day his guys cleaned up using magnets to find any lost nails. On the third day they did a final clean up of all materials . They were quick. They were efficient. Our neighbors were in awe at how fast Harbour Roofing was and how wonderful our roof looks. Several of them in an effort to save money over the last couple of years had hired so called "jack legs". These guys often took weeks... that's weeks.. to complete their work. They had to come back several times to fix problems. And then, they ended up over paying. We have the beautiful roof we wanted... at the price we wanted ..performed within the time frame we wanted... and the quality workmanship we demanded.
Description of Work: Remove and replace shingles. Including underlayment material and rotten sheathing. Also installed new gutters.

Description of Work: My wife and I were very enthused after our initial contact with this company. We had received several estimates and Harbor came in at a very reasonable price. The salesman was very responsive during the initial stages and we were reassured by the reviews available at that time. The salesman was receptive to our concerns and seemed more than willing to accommodate our concerns. We felt quite confident that we had made the right choice during this time. |The level of responsiveness dropped off slightly as the date for the work drew closer. The first major problem was the supply drop. I asked the company that dropped off the pallets of materials to set them in the driveway. The driver preferred to place them in the yard. I understood the premise, but I thought my concerns for my yard should have been honored. |The work ended up being delayed and Harbor was quick to respond in terms of my concern for the materials damaging the lawn. The materials were moved to the driveway that day, but the damage to the yard was substantial after the forklift had made several trips back and forth. |The crew was able to show up about a week later after a period of rain passed. While it was inconvenient to have pallets of materials in our driveway for a week, we understood the situation. I must say that the crew was very diligent, and outside of the fact that I had to spend half a day pressure washing my driveway to remove all of the scuff marks and stains from the materials and the oil stains from the crew van, I felt that the crew was very efficient and respectful. Not that we know exactly how a roof should be applied, but the roof looks very nice and we can surely assume that it was put on correctly. |The main complaint we have with Harbor is the way things were handled once the work was finished. The salesman appeared with the bill shortly after the work was completed. We completed a thorough walk through of the yard. I pointed out my concern about a damaged bird feeder and the damage to the yard from the forklift. He did not acknowledge the feeder. |I felt as though the lawn damage should be addressed before the job should be considered complete. He assured me that the lawn would be taken care of, but insisted that payment for the work completed needed to be procured immediately. I said that I wasn't comfortable with this arrangement, but I understood that materials and labor had been expended. I now feel I should have pressed this point further. We agreed that a few hundred dollars would be held back until the lawn damage was addressed. |When he presented the amount due I presented a 5% coupon that I had recently discovered on the Angie's List website. The coupon is specifically for Harbor Roofing and there are no stipulations as to how or when it can be applied, or when it must be presented. After presenting the coupon, the salesman insisted that the discount had already been applied to the original estimate. I told him that there was no indication of this on the original estimate and that he had not verbally stated that any discount had been applied. He maintained his stance and said that we had indeed received the "Angie's List price". I asked how I was supposed to know this. He claimed that when he asked how I found the company, and I said Angie's List, that the discount was already built in to the estimate at that point. This action alone would keep us from providing Harbor Roofing a glowing review. |While we feel we received a fair price, this misdirection was very unsettling and soured our overall experience. Moreover, I also asked, during the original estimate, how much it would be to roof our small shed. The cost ended up being over twice what the salesman quoted. He dismissed the disparity by saying that he hadn't measured the shed. |It has been several weeks since they finished the job. The salesman assured me that he would have someone attend to the lawn. I haven't heard from anyone since that day. |Again, we were impressed with the crew. But, in the end, the company's representative ended up being both careless and misleading. |I'll update if I should hear from them about the yard. At this point I'll just assume that they've written off the small loss. In fact, I've already started on the repairs.

This was fair enough, but when I told him that I opted to hire a different roofing company he got kind of weird about it -- he started putting the other company down and talking about how their materials were inferior, and that "they give you a fancy folder and brochures, but the work they do is not very good" (this is paraphrasing). He was clearly frustrated, but i did not think it was professional for him to get all passive-aggressive with me. Not good customer relations, in my opinion.
Description of Work: I requested and received a quote from Harbor Roofing. I opted for a different roofing company after reviewing the quotes.

 + 0 moreThe crew and foreman showed up on time and worked very hard and non-stop in spite of hot weather. They completed the work in 2 days. The quality of work was very good (i.e. nailing shingles by hand). Roger (sales) and Nate the owner came by during the process. The crew cleaned up fairly well but as it started to rain heavily at the end of the job, some nails on the ground were missed and some materials were left in the driveway. Roger came the following day for the final payment and contacted the foreman to complete the cleanup. I pointed out an area that left rust in my driveway from the dumpster and some asphalt glue streaks in the driveway and on the siding of my house, apparently from the glue. He said he would have this taken care of. After not hearing further, I called to follow up after about 2 weeks or so. He said he would talk to Nate, and the areas would be power-washed. The roof work was done on June 27 and I have not heard anything further after I called once more over a month ago. I am pleased with the roof and workmanship, but displeased with the resolution of the above issues.
Description of Work: Removed asphalt roof shingles. Replaced roof shingles and applicable work, replaced chimney flashing.

 + -1 moreWhile the crew spread tarps to catch the old shingles, not all fell within the area covered by the tarp. This left some asphalt streaks on the porch and deck which will require clean up. The final price was right on the estimate. No surprises is good when undertaking a job such as this.
Description of Work: The crew removed all the old shingles and underlayer, replaced some plywood, and installed new tar paper and shingles. They cleaned up and removed the old asphalt shingles.

 + -1 moreThe installation itself went well. The workers showed up on time and the work was done by the end of day. The clean-up, however, was sub-par in my opinion. Upon returning home, I could see scraps of old shingles and other bits of debris left by the workers. I even found a couple of nails without even looking very hard. There were also a few black streaks on the front of my house made by old roofing falling to the ground. We also had a bit of a misunderstanding about replacing any rotten wood on the roof. I assumed any rotten wood was going to be replaced, but it wasn't. That's the bad news. The good news is, I contacted Roger H., the sales consultant, and he and the owner, Nate, came to the house. They saw that the clean-up wasn't up to standard and made arrangements to come back and do additional clean up. Nate explained that the rotten wood was due to a framing issue and not something they typically look for or correct. But, he had the rotten wood fixed and installed a protective cover along the edge to prevent any future water damage (at no additional cost). So, while I was disappointed by the clean-up, I was impressed that the owner took the time to come out and make things right. Had it not been for the clean-up issue, I would have given them an A overall. But since everything wasn't right the first time, I didn't feel an A (excellent) grade was appropriate. However, I think they are a well-run company and I would still recommend them.

 + -1 moreThe whole process was quick and professional. The guys came, found the leak and found two other suspect protections for pipe stantions and fixed them too. Have to wait for the rains again to be certain but I felt that they really ck'd and repaired my roof. The last roofer could not find the problem. I appreciated the discount coupon and used it. I appreciated the reviews of other customers. When my roof must be replaced I will certainly call these guys!

 + -1 moreHad a visit from sales rep who did estimate and listened to my concerns,sent me estimate. I followed up with an e-mail when I had my 3 estimates and made my decision. Had another visit from rep to choose color and answered my questions on taking care of chimmey flashing,removing antena holder from side of chimmey,replacing vents and my dozens of other questions. I was kept well informed and all of questions answered,either by Roger or owner Nate. The first day stripped off all old shingles down to decking. Replaced any decking that had problem and covered with new felt. Fixed termite damage above door. Cleaned debris. Second day they laid shingles (using hammer instead of nail gun. ),finished ,started putting in copper flashing around chimmey. Finished today. Looks terrific. Workers quiet and polite. Cleaned area each day and took old shingles to recyle. Hope this is enough information , have a list of all they said they were going to preform and as far as I know feel they did it all. Both Roger and Nate were here often making sure workers had everything they needed. As a widow this was a huge undertaking for an uninformed person. They make it easy for me.
Description of Work: This is one of 3 companies I am concidering and delighted with all 3 . Will come down to product and price. Will write review when complete. Went with Harbor Roofing as had done some research on Shingles .This was check rated as best buy for the money by Consummers Reports magazine. CertainTeed test results were excellent to good in all areas. Chose an excellent color to co-ordinate with my brick house. As an artist that was an important issue for me. Removed shingles and felt Inspect decking and repair as needed remove and patch turbines Inspect ventalation and install ridge venting Install chimmney new flashing(at my request ) new boot flashing-drip edge install underlayer complete trim copper chimmney flashing Depose of debris and clean site

The roof looks great and I'm very happy to have chose this company. One of the reasons why I chose this company was because it had been recommended by two other people I know.
Description of Work: I purchased a new roof from this company and was very pleased with the result. I had called a some other roofing companies but they would not work on my roof because part of it had a very low-slope section. There was one other company that quoted us but it was about $1000 more. The price included the following: * Removal of shingles * Inspect/repair. The repair cost was $100/sheet but they ended up not charging in the end (I believe because there wasn't that much too replace) * Installment of Underlay * Flashed Chimney * Cut in Ridge Vent * Installment of 30 yr shingles * Installment of commercial-grade rubber roofing (on low-slop part of roof) * Flash and Trim * Clean up and Disposal They also put a disclaimer that they may charge $700 to remove part of the low-slope section but didn't end up having to charge me for it.

 + -1 moreThey tore off the old shingles and tar paper, repaired a hole in the plywood, and installed new Certainteed shingles (Cobblestone Grey). From the minute Nathan Thompson walked in the door to give me an estimate, I liked him. He was on time, came prepared with samples and offered suggestions. I gave him a date two weeks in the future (due to planned vacation) and he felt that he could be there within a day or 2 of then, depending on the weather. And, he was. My house is almost 1800 sq feet, L shaped ranch. The old roof was off in 4 hours, and the back of the house was shingled the first day. They finished up the 2nd day at noon. Each nail was put in my hand - no pneumatic tools for these folks, and I was impressed. They covered all my bushes, moved outdoor furniture and plants where required, and cleaned up extremely well. They have this magnet roller that gets all the nails off the lawn and driveway! I give a strong recommendation to Harbor Roofing!
