Description of Work: Water-proofed the crawl space, put a dehumidifier and a sump pump in the crawl space but without an electrician could only run power to one of them. They told me they would have their electrician call but he never did and finally I called him but since the job is so simple to him he does not want to make the long trip to where we are and would charge a higher fee. We are such busy people we have yet to get someone else and I hate having that put on my plate - would have preferred they called their guy as soon as they saw I needed an electrician so it could have been done.

Description of Work: From start to finish the Tarheel staff kept me well informed. They responded to questions in a knowledgeable and timely manner. Although I wasn't on site when the work was done, my neighbor checked in for me and said that the |Work was done as contracted and that staff were careful, friendly and hard working.

Description of Work: Installed supports along basement wall to prevent bulging. I'm sure it will work, but it's expensive. It's the ONLY solution that I'm aware of that will work.

Description of Work: They assessed my unfinished basement and tested the walls for moisture. They presented all the different options for getting it dry and thoroughly explained (in layperson terms) exactly how it would work. Very thorough and professional. We ultimately decided not to move forward on the project but if we decide to in the future I would definitely contact Tarheel Basement Systems again.

Description of Work: Tar Heel Basement System was a joy to work with. They were so professional and personable. We haven't had any problem with the job, and the humidifier works great. Looks great under our house since we have gotten it encapsulated, and its so cool in the summer. I would pick them for our next house. I highly recommend them.

Description of Work: They were very professional and installation went well. It was extremely expensive for a modest sized ranch home crawl space (about 1560 square feet), but we felt the investment would be worthwhile in the long run. We were disappointed in a couple very important things post-installation: 1) We were assured that the terrible smell coming from the crawl space into the living areas would go away because the encapsulation and the dehumidifier in the crawl space would dry things out; over a month later, with the dehumidifier going practically non-stop, we still have a bad odor coming from the crawl space. 2) We went away for a couple days and came back to the sound of an alarm coming from the crawl space. We called and someone came out within a couple hours. It turned out that the alarm was coming from the sump pump they installed, which detected water that wasn't being pumped out. The repairman said that the sump pump hadn't been operating because the plug hadn't been plugged into the socket all the way. The alarm did its job, but there was no way to shut off the alarm until the repairman arrived without going into the crawl space and crawling across the entire length of the house to the reach the sump pump. We were then told that for an additional $175 we could have a shut-off switch installed in the living area upstairs that would allow us to shut off the alarm and not have to listen to it while waiting for a repairman. Considering the likelihood of this happening and the enormous cost of the whole job, why wouldn't that have been brought up in the beginning and included as part of the package?

Description of Work: Put in 4 piers, lifted foundation as much as they could, filled in the ditch and graded the soil around the foundation. Swept up and picked up debris on walkways and driveway. Very attentive to detail, courteous and professional.

Description of Work: Installed sump pump, dehumidifier, clean space light, drainage matting, sealed vents, silver glow insulation and other items in my under the house crawl space. Job went great, team was very professional. Under the house crawl space is prefect.

Description of Work: This is revised review following contact with the vendor. Originally, we called Tar Heel Basement on August 9, 2014 because of a water leak in our basement, and left a message with our phone number. We never heard back from them, so my review reflected this. However, about 2 weeks later, the vendor called to apologize profusely and to tell us that they never received our message. The rep assured us that this episode was a misunderstanding, and if they had gotten our message, someone would have called back promptly and come to our house that day. She said that Tar Heel Basement prides itself on its high standards and excellent work. There was no reason to doubt her sincerity, and because this vendor receives such incredibly high grades from others on Angie's List, I am revising my review. Moreover, if we ever experience another basement leak in the future, we'll definitely use this vendor.

Description of Work: Prompt service, professional presentation.Arrived when scheduled. Only thing they did not do is a follow up call after installation to confirm the system was operating as it was supposed to. This was a radon system and the results were immediate, falling from a reading of 9 to less than 1.

Description of Work: Six supports to hold basement wall together...to keep from collapsing. Also put two poles in cement to hold the major beam of the house. To fix the supports for the wall....a trench was dug about fifteen feet from the wall...and metal poles were dug through the ground...so that plates were put at the end of each pole...one on the basement wall...and one on the trench wall....then tightened so that the wall was pulled back in line....

Description of Work: This companies specialty is dry basements. We have had problems in heavy rains with the basement flooding for many years. I contacted this company on their website and received a phone call almost immediately. They set up an appointment to come out and give us an estimate. Prior to that appointment they sent us a booklet on what they offer and pictures of all their personnel,told you who would be coming and their experience. They entire experience was professional and polite . They offer a plan of your basement and exactly what you are wanting to accomplish. We decided we only wanted the drains and sump pump systems and the design specialist helped us with what we wanted and could afford. Since we do not have a living space basement we went with just the basics. They scheduled our service and actually called to see if they could come a week earlier which was great. They let us know it would take 3 to 4 days to complete, that there would be lots of dust and noise due to the fact they have to make a trench all away around the basement thru the concrete. Of course there was lots of noise until the trenching was finished. They worked from morning to late in day only taking a break for lunch. They were professional and polite and answered all questions. They cleaned up all debri everyday before leaving. The job was completed in the time stated. This company is excellent and they guarantee satisfaction. We are very pleased with this company and would highly recommend them for getting the water out of your basement! We have had rain since and not one drop of water on the floor!
