Could not have gone better. I was quite anxious about it all, but these guys are the tops for professional. They educated me, were patient with me needing to understand all the options. They worked from early morning and sometimes late into the night, over a few days. Very focused, very skilled. Lots of expertise here. The work turned out great.

Josh, John & Bailey did an excellent job installing the system. Except for occasional construction sounds, you didn't know they were here. Work was completed as planned and to our satisfaction. From our first visit by Matt to completion, a very professional organization.

I requested a very experienced employee to come & assess our odd structural & water problems. The person who made my appt assured me that he was making my appt with one of their most experienced employees. A very immature man came to assess our basement needs. The 90 minute assessment appt lasted approx 3 hours due to his inexperience and need to talk about himself and his family . I asked for him to send other experienced employees back with him. He promised to email me a quote for partial basement work (which he verbally quoted) as the entire basement needs were what he needed to bring others in to see as we have odd situations in an older home. An experienced employee who wasn't so full of himself would have been a better experience. I have not received the quote he stated he'd email the day he was onsite. I don't expect to as our issues are not easy quick money for them and I'm not so agreeable to outrageous $ figures for hardly no work on a partial verbal quote of all of our needs.

Ms. [Member Information Removed], I want to start off by apologizing for the delayed response, as we did not receive a notification that this review was posted so this is the first I am seeing it. I am sorry to hear that you were less than 100% satisfied and that our inspector did not provide you with the exceptional experience we pride ourselves on. Our System Design Manager has left you a message to try to resolve this issue and make sure your concerns are addressed immediately! Again, this is not the way we do business, as we built our reputation on providing "WOW" customer service. Please allow us the opportunity to make this right by you. Last May I detected a very strong odor of cat urine from my basement. I did some research and found the chemicals they were using. I have not being feeling well and they let me a choose a non-impregnated pesticide product. They were very pleasant and cordial. I have no bad things to say about the way I have been treated by them. They will work with my on my individual pesticide sensitivity and they recognize and acknowledge and work with that.

I contacted a number of foundation, engineers, and basement companies regarding support in our crawlspace. (This was due to another contractor listed on Angie's List that did a horrible job and caused structural problems in our house - see my review about Randy Emmitt.) Anyway, after contacting about a half-dozen or more contractors Tar Heel Basement Systems seemed to have all the best criteria - responsiveness, professionalism, price, etc. We had many emails and phone calls about the work to ensure it adhered to the engineering report. They gave me a great deal and worked w/me on the details. We scheduled a time and they did the work. It was all done very well and I highly recommend them.

Excellent work. They didn't explain their contract fully, and didn't charge me for the things that they didn't correctly explain (which was very honest of them). They did leave some tools here and I've had to schedule a pick up, but the actual work its self was excellent. I had 3 piers put under the front foundation of my home and I had 5 support columns replaced under my home. Cost about 10,000, but much better than having my home fall down. The work took just 3 days, and they were extremely pleasant people with whom to work.

I called Tarheel Basements a little over 2 weeks ago about concerns I had with my house/foundation. I explained why I was calling, and they scheduled a visit for today. Prior to today's visit, they mailed me a packet. The contents included pamphlets with information and pictures specific to the types of conditions I had called and expressed concerns about. The techinician, Rick, showed up on time and spent over an hour checking my house. He was professional and knowledgeable. I was relieved to learn that repairs are not needed, but if they are in the future, he explained the process and provided an estimate of what certain repairs may cost. There was no charge for today's visit, and I can't express how much I appreciate the peace of mind I have knowing that I do not have to worry about foundation repairs at this time. If that need ever arises in the future, Tarheel Basements will be the company I choose to do the work. Great customer service and great customer experience!

The installer was professional, courteous, listened to my preference for system location and completed the job as I expected. I opted for the more expensive approach to vent the radon mitigation system through the roof vs. side of the house to hide the white PVC pipe and noise of fan. My only concern was related to the number of "pits" they estimated vs. actual required. They try to upsell you on the number of pits but if they determine you need less they pocket the revenue. If you select less pits and they determine you need more it turns out to be more expensive than if you opted for more pits in the beginning. To be fair this was explained but I was a bit suspect of this business practice. Overall, I would recommend even though a bit pricey, they are very professional and do the job right the first time.

It went excellent. They're a really good company. They are one of the few businesses to do a fairly new procedure to level sidewalks if you have a sidewalk that has cracked, settled, has a tree root. They have a new procedure to level out your sidewalk that is far superior to replacing your sidewalk or doing a procedure called mudjacking that makes a terrible mess. It is not cheap and they have a minimum charge to do the job. I will say that their minimum is lower than another business in North Carolina that does the procedure. Besides being very, very clear with the salesman that came out and explained it, when the crew got here they were also very good at explaining what they were going to do. They went above and beyond. They realized that my first step going up to the porch had also settled and they went ahead and corrected that too and there was no extra charge on that. They really had their eyes open to the whole situation rather than just following specifics on a piece of paper. Their price is not cheap but it's fair.

Since I've had this encapsulation The crew came on time & believe me these guys work no stop. It was 3 days of grading the dirt down there & getting the foam board installed. The weather was extremely hot mid 90's all 3 days. The last day they were here 12 hours & answered all my questions & showed me how to change the filter in the dehumidifier & see the work in progress. Yes it is expensive but I have asthma and I will be deathly sick if there is mold. My A/C has been reduced significantly.
Description of Work: Tar heel Basement Systems came over to the house & looked in the crawl space, & did a extensive evaluation of the the crawlspace. He spent about 3 hours looking around taking pictures & coming up with the plan of action. He was extremely knowledgeable about crawl spaces & how to go about encapsulating it.

The company's workers were attentive, friendly, courteous, professional, and prompt. They seem to have a great depth of knowledge regarding potential residential damage from humidity and moisture. The work was difficult due to the steep mountainside slope under the house, but they worked diligently without complaint to finish on time. They finished the work as promised and we bought an annual service contract, which we rarely do. We have faith that their annual inspection and maintenance will preemptively identify potential future problems and that their early remedies will save us money in the long run..
Description of Work: 1. Install SaniDry XP Basement Air System to maintain relative humidity at or below 65%; the level below which mold does not grow... 2. Install 20 mil CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system. 3. Install R-11 rigid insulation board in all foundation vents from the interior side. 4. Install a 70 pint model dehumidifier in storage room, draining through the floor and joining the existing condensate drain line. 5.Install extra 4" vent pipe and termination kit for bathroom shower vent pipe. 6. Install electric heat tape for the three drain lines in crawlspace.

They did a great job and went above and beyond the original estimate. I was trying to manage this from 1500 miles away and they helped me arrange for a plumber and electrician to come out and repair items they found underneath the house. I would definitely recommend them.

Update 05/30/15 - I wrote a review of Tar Heel Basements (Basementy) a few weeks ago. I described a couple of problems I had with their work. They contacted me immediately and scheduled an appointment to remediate the issues. The work was completed yesterday, and I could not be happier with the results. The drainage pipes were completely buried, and they left the work area in great shape. It was a tough job, and I wasn't even sure they would be able to fix the problem to the extent that they did! They even took the work a step beyond what was required (burying another pipe that was not a part of the original project.) Thanks Tar Heel.
Description of Work: Please see update to review below: I hired them to support the foundation under garage. They were also supposed to bury piping from downspouts to drainage area at the back of house. As time has passed, I have discovered that the pipes were simply covered with mulch rather than buried along the sides of the house. It also appears that some telephone lines were severed in the process, which I discovered when I tried to change my phone service from wireless back to a landline. I was disappointed to have to deal with these problems. However, they were wonderful to work with when they were on site, and the issues described above did not show up until months after the work was completed. I also purchased a large dehumidifier for my crawl space which has worked very well.

I contacted a structural engineering firm because of settling/foundation problems with my house. When the report was completed, they provided several recommendations for companies to the the necessary work. Tar Heel Basement Systems was one of the companies. After checking the BBB and Angie's list (rave reviews from both), I called for an appointment. Best move I ever made. When the Tar Heel representative came initially he did a thorough inspection to determine the scope of the project and to show me how Tar Heel could alleviate my problems. Working with Tar Heel was a great experience. I was so impressed with the professionalism of the employees. I had two different crews to complete my project: one to install the dehumidifier, smart jacks and sump pump and another to install the helical piers. Both crews' air of quiet competence gave me confidence in the successful completion of my project. All of the employees were polite, answered my questions, and kept me informed at all phases of the project. They demonstrated a discipline I've not seen in a long time: they showed up when they said they would, got to work and worked steadily until the end of the day. The first crew working inside the crawl space contended with limited space and maneuverability while they dug the holes for the smart jacks and sump pump. The weather was nasty (cold and rainy) when the second crew arrived but that didn't stop them as they dug the very deep holes for the helical piers even as the rain water filled the bottom of the holes. I was filled with admiration for both crews and their equanimity as they dealt with less than ideal working conditions. When the project was finished, my yard was restored to its original condition - in fact, even better than it was. Tar Heel also accommodated some requests I had, e.g., they hand dug the holes for the helical piers because I did not want to take my fence down and they did not bring boom boxes. (This is one of my pet peeves; entire days of loud music are nerve wracking. This has been a problem in some of my remodeling jobs.) I loved their "we can do that" attitude. The Tar Heel office staff also was patient beyond belief as I called several times to double check my understanding of the project, the Greensboro city inspection process and to let them know my schedule. Working with Tar Heel Basement Systems ranks at the top of my easy to work with companies and, is by far, the most customer oriented. When they say they want their customers to be satisfied, those are not empty words, they really mean it. This was such a positive experience, I am having them come back in April to do some additional work on my crawl space.
Description of Work: Installed smart jacks, dehumidifier, sump pump, helical piers. Tar Heel began my project on March 17 and completed it on March 23, 2015.

Got a booklet on foundation repair in the mail along with a picture and profile of the person who would be coming by my house 2 weeks before the appointment. That was a good first impression and an indication of the professionalism of the company. The day before my appointment, the sales rep called me to inform me that he wouldn't be able to come because he had been called for jury duty. He said we could reschedule, or if I wanted to keep the appointment that the owner of the company would come out and honor the original time. I couldn't reschedule, so Pete (the owner) showed up the next day with two other gentlemen. They were very thorough and took their time to gather all the information they needed to present a solution. They were back and forth between the house and the crawl space 4 or 5 times making sure all measurements were exact. I received the proposal the next day. Budgetary concerns necessitate putting the job off for a few months, but I wanted to post this now because I was so impressed with the professionalism of the company. It's rare today to find a company that doesn't use high pressure sales tactics or try to sell you something you don't need. I would recommend Pete and Tar Heel Basement Systems to anyone needing their services in a heartbeat. I will update once the repairs are done.

The gentlemen was extremely polite and stated that they don't do this type of work and that in fact with a steel brush with water I could brush off this salt substance. I thanked him and would recommend them to do sealed basement systems. They were professional, punctual and appeared to be knowledgeable of all basement issues.
Description of Work: Tar Heel Basement systems came to house to check on an item that was found during the property inspection portion of the sale of my house. They inspected the situations and gave us clear and understandable explanations of what they proposed doing, what our options were, and the costs involved. Their crew did excellent work, professionally and congenially. Even today, several years after the High Country project, the space looks as if it were done yesterday. All of the improvements, including equipment, work as planned. They do a good annual inspection when requested. We recommend them without hesitation.
Description of Work: Tar Heel Basements improved our crawl space, installed a dehumidifier and repaired our sump pump in Greensboro. Previously, in 2010-11, they created a clean space under our vacation cottage in the High Country.

Then they gave me a very and I mean very detailed list of steps to take to resolve my problem. Which the first was to clean out my gutters and then several others steps that if one did not solve the problems try the next step. However, the first stepped worked just fine and there was no reason for continuing to the additional more expensive steps. Tar Heel is one of the most professional, knowledgeable, low or no pressure companies that I have dealt with. I would without a doubt use and recommend them to anyone that is looking for such a company.
Description of Work: I had a water issue in my basement, I called Tar Heel, they sent someone out that evaluated the problem.

Tarheel Team showed up on time, and were very professional. In order to install the carbon fiber strips, Tarheel had to first remove some old cabinets from the walls - they went the extra step of actually taking the old cabinets back to their dumpster for me - much appreciated. The basement looked much better after they left than it ever had before. Carbon fibers strips were installed and easily painted over to blend in with rest of walls.
Description of Work: Installed carbon fiber strips as preventive measure on basement walls.
