All I have to say is: This guy is Awesome. Jonathan is easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable. His crew knew exactly what they were doing and were very respectful and hard working. We even had a last minute request and Jonathan was very happy to oblige. A member of his crew even went a further step: saw that I needed another spring to fix my fence door and fixed it on the spot. All in all, this guy knows his stuff, he is honest and is very professional. We are so impressed, we are giving him a call in the Spring to create and update several landscaping beds.

Fantastic...I will be using them for some other services we need in yard. They also do retaining walls that they will be fixing for us.

I am very pleased with the work that was done. The new ditch line is working very well in keeping the water flowing downhill in the right direction (and not taking out the corner of my shed or the back yard). In addition to a very large area of leaves, mulched leaves, limbs and branches, they were able to remove a large amount of stump grindings from 4 stumps that I had someone grind the day before along with removal of some lumber scrapes. At the end of the day, they removed an entire small dump truck full. They were hardworking, knowledgeable and professional.

Jonathan and his crew did a great job and I'm very pleased with the results. Our house looks tons better now. They showed up on time, went straight to work, and completed the job quickly and efficiently in 2 days. On completion of the work, they cleaned up all debris and removed it from site. Very professional! I would certainly recommend their services to anyone!! ***They are coming back out soon to install a stacked stone wall, as a separate project, and I'm eager to see the results of that work (will update here ASAP!).

I will say that in spite of the unresponsive nature of my contact with this provider that when he finally found time to come out that he was polite, professional, and seemed to be knowledgeable. I had to rate him a "C" in professionalism though because in spite of the good personal impression, the lack of responsiveness and delay in providing a quote fall short of my expectations of what is professional. Unfortunately, it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I copied his example and did not notify him until today that someone else was awarded the job. Interestingly, he didn't bother to follow up on the quote he submitted to see if I had questions or concerns. Overall, I felt he wasn't really interested in my project and would have appreciated it if he would have simply said so and not wasted my time. RESPONSE TO PROVIDER RESPONSE _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Normally, I might ignore this but since the Provider made disparaging remarks about my reliability, I thought it best to make certain the story is told accurately. April 17, 2014: Request for quote was sent via Angie's list messaging system April 19, 2014: Provider sent message via Angie's list messaging system: "I will follow up with you when I get in. Thank you" April 20, 2014: Provider sent message via Angie's list messaging system: "Do you think Friday at 530 would work?" The Friday he referenced coming out was April 25, 2014 April 25, 2014: At 3:10pm Provider left a voice message on my phone ( which I still have for anyone who doubts my honesty) that "I wanted to see if we could move that (appt) to tomorrow." He went on to say it was pouring rain where they were working and they were going to be a while. He then stated, "If you have any time available tomorrow I will follow up with you and see if we can reschedule." The Provider did NOT contact me to reschedule! He called me the next day (4/26/14) at 2:20pm indicating he was coming out, but I was not at home. Since we did not have an appointment, I had no reason to feel obligated to be at home. I was at my grandson's soccer game and would certainly NOT have scheduled an appointment that would have conflicted with my ability to be at his game. I informed the Provider that I was not home but should be back from the game no later than 5:00pm and he could stop by then. At 4:48pm I left a message on the provider's voice mail reminding him of my availability and requesting a return call. I did not hear from him nor did he stop by. So, at 6:03pm I placed another call to the Provider and spoke with someone that appeared to be his spouse. She scheduled a time for him to come out the next day (April 27, 2014) after I expressed my frustration to her. As you see, I did NOT cancel ANY appointment! I also find it highly offensive that this member says I cancelled a meeting that was never scheduled. HE is the one that cancelled our appointment because of his schedule. Also, the flamboyant attitude exhibited by his words that the bad reviews he receives come from people that they do not do work for indicates a negative attitude. Also, if you will sort the reviews by grade, you will find that the bad reviews aren't from ONLY people whose job they don't complete as is illustrated below. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Review Date: July 22, 2013 Company Name: Superior Lawn and Landscaping, Inc Work Completed Date: July 16, 2013 Hire Again: No Approximate Cost: $1,400.00 Member Comments: 7/16/13 Jon called me the morning after I gave him the D on the review, which was about 7 days after they had done the work on 6/13/13. He said he had been thinking about the poor quality of work they had done and now he wanted to make it right. He said they just got frustrated with all the rain is why the job was done as it was... in the first review and now he wanted to make it right and did not want me to feel disrespected. This customer updated their review after he came back out to try to fix it. 9/12/13 I really had a D for my first review, but somehow messed it up when I updated the review and gave company a B. The update is that we are still finding glass that was left, Part of the glass in around a play area for our Granddaughters.

We were pleased with the work that was provided. The work was completed in a short period of time and the crew did a nice job with what we wanted done. We had a brick and cinder block retaining wall replaced. We wanted railroad ties placed. We had the beds around the house and backyard mulched, needled and edged. The men did a good job cleaning the driveway where the extra mulch stayed while they were working on the beds. Jon completed the job by placing straw where the men had placed grass seeds next to the new retaining walls. We would recommend this company for lawn and landscaping services.

The workers were very professional - arrived on time, great quality of work (cleaned-up during and after they completed the work - carried off all extra dirt, reseeded, etc.), and the price was the middle of other estimates I had received. Owner followed up to ensure work was completed to my satisfaction.

During the last few years both another landscape company as well as myself tried to replant grass in this area without success due to the poplar tree and poor soil. Jon's team took down the tree and carted all of the limbs to the curb. They spread about 1/2 inch of topsoil over the area which is about 20' x 40'. They applied fertilizer and grass seed from Reynolda Nursery. They then covered the entire area with a wood fiber mat. I'm sure glad that they used the mat as since it was put down we have had two snow coverings and several thunder storms. The wood fibers are rotting away but during all of the inclement weather the mat permitted the grass to grow. I've cut it twice but kept the blades higher to insure not to catch the mesh holding the wood fibers. After two months we did cut away a couple of sections of wood fibers that had not rotted but would recommend using the mat over straw to anyone. Superior Lawn and Landscaping's Jon did what he said he would do and at a competitive price. I would hire this company again.

I can't praise Jonathan enough. He returned my first call immediately, came out the next day to assess my bad erosion problem in my backyard. He estimated when he could do work and even called to say he'd had cacellation and could do it sooner. He not only did the work exactly as promised, he even seeded more area than we had originally discussed. I will definitely use him again. If he's had a bad rating before, I'd suggest ignoring that.

I have used this company before and have been quite pleased with them. Even though they have equipment trouble they have managed to make sure that the work was done for me - even adding some things I needed done in the back while they were here. I am impressed that the owner is willing to step in and help with the work if he gets behind due to equipment problems. He works right along side of his employees. They are all quite nice and professional. I actually requested that they come back and do work in the back yard when they can schedule it.

After six weeks and no contact or start of work, I emailed him to cancel the work. This was a frustrating experience. I can not recommend him and would not consider this company again. Update - 9/2/14 With all due respect to the owner, you only get one chance to make a good impression. A client who agrees to hire you and signs a work agreement should not be expected to chase the contractor for his schedule. A professional and reputable businessman will keep in contact with the client and advise them of an expected start date or delays if necessary. I did email this contractor after six weeks and his voice-mail response was that he forgot about the job. Yes, forgot. If he could have easily accommodated the work, it would not have still been pending after six weeks. The situation and the response to my honest critique do not reflect "very high standards". My rating of F is due to the absence of customer service.

I was pleased with the job. The owner is very professional, and his employees wasted no time and did a good job. I will use them again.

Jonathan, emailed me prior to when he would start the work and that is when he started. The job took two days of hard constant work. There was no loafing on the job. They came back the day after a hard rain to make sure everything was operating the way it should. I am very impressed with Mr. Branch's technical expertise. The company aims to satisfy. I strongly recommend the company for your landscaping needs.

After several months of wasted emails/phone calls with another landscaping firm, I reached out to Superior based on their excellent reviews. Jonathan and crew did not disappoint. They were very responsive and professional. They graded both our front and back yards including leveling out an old gravel driveway to allow grass to grow in the future. They also created berms in the front yard for privacy and transplanted large shrubs there. They also removed several stumps, including a very large one. They guys were very thorough and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was done satisfactorily through several equipment issues. They were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions and concerns. We can't wait to have them back out in the spring for seeding and bed improvements. We would definitely recommend them for your landscaping needs.

They hand dug under the walk and put the drain in. That is how closely they followed my wishes and instructions. He provided mulch around my whole house and re-landscaped. He did an excellent job and I would highly recommend him. He was very knowledgeable about how to do things and suggested how to do the work. He came back after the work was complete and moved one of the drains, and checked that everything was draining properly.

I am delighted with the final results. Working with the contraints of a lot of rain and cold weather, Jonathan and his crew were available to come by and complete projects as weather allowed. I have several addtional projects I am currently consulting with him on.

I used Jon on a large landscaping project last February and was very pleased so when I decided to continue the theme around the side of our house I called him again. He had several projects that he was working on at that time so he was nice enough to let me know there would be a delay before he could start. I told him I only wanted him to do it, so I was willing to wait. Once he started the work, it was done completely and professionally in just two days. It looks great and blends with the other landscaping he did for me last year.

Jonathan & his assistant first stripped off the "old" grass & then carefully lay strips of sod in its place. They disposed of the residue left by the prior grass & cleaned up. Finally, they watered the new sod. They were very helpful in providing tips re: care & maintenance. The finished project was very impressive to behold!

As was the case with their prior visit's -- which took several days -- Jon and his employees are conscientious and hard working. They do good work, are willing to take time to answer questions or talk about solutions to problem areas. I won't hesitate to use them again, or recommend their work to others. There have been some minor delays, but that's generally a function of weather (i.e., rain, etc.) -- which can delays yard work, if the ground is too soft or supplies (like topsoil) can't be obtained.

I've been extremely impressed with Jonathan and his crew. His response time is excellent and the pricing is very reasonable for the high level of service they provide. I've already used them a second time and strongly recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent landscaping company.

Jonathan's folks were there when he said they'd be and did a bang-up job on the aeration. We have been living in DC for the past 7 years and just moved back into our home here that has been a rental since 2006. The lawn was beautiful when we moved and the tenants had let it go to pot. I sprayed all the crabgrass and the folks at Superior came in and did the aeration. I put some quality tall fescue down this past weekend and am looking to have the best-looking yard in the neighborhood by Halloween!

We left a message for Jonathan one morning and received a response the same day. He met with us a few days later to view the site and give us some options. He gave us a quote the same evening, and followed up with us 2 days later to see if we needed any additional information. We signed a contract with him and he started about a week later, as he had promised. His work was excellent, and his crew was friendly, professional, and thorough. Jonathan made sure we knew what was happening in every phase of the project. The work was completed on time, on budget, and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Superior for retaining wall projects.

I had killed out entire grass(weeds) rear. side yard. some where around 13,000 square ft. had one large maple, 15 or so boxwood in front foundation planting, 3 crape myrtles small, 2 large dog woods, 1 bed of 6 rose Sharon all cut down an stumps grounded Now to clean up the mess well minus the large maple an dogwoods stump grinding, I had done most work myself but with so much debris from stumps I needed some help so called superior landscaping Jonathan (Jon) answered set up apt Jon showed up before time took time to listen walk around discuss the work. He suggested that he give me quote on just leveling the low spot( I had brought 12 yds fill dirt in for), an cleaning up all debris left buy tree guy, an quote for seeding fertilizer straw topsoil etc. Well here the part we all hope for superior has not only did a good, but great job. The preparation before planting is the key to establishing a lush an healthy grass so after Jon removed most dead Bermuda an applying topsoil for ph,. an improved germination, using a combination of seed mix, that recommended for my yard .in closing he did all he quoted me, giving me several options to choose from an the important part his price was reasonable no short cuts where taken, Jon knowledgeable, experienced, an is easy going an obvisley hard worker who has shown he try's hard to satisfies his clients. I will be using superior for up coming fall plugging seeding my front yard thanks Jon, Now wheres all that rain when you need it ??

Jon was very responsive to all questions and provided the work in a timely manner. His team worked in the rain to complete the job and our grass is starting to grow. Pricing was very competetive given the other quotes I received. I was a bit concerned about seed that may have washed away and Jon came back quickly to lay some more down at no charge.
