Description of Work: Evidently I misunderstood what a landscape design consultation entailed. I had expected to receive at least a brief outline--in writing--of changes that the consultant would recommend. It did not occur to me at the time I took Angie's List up on its offer that I would be paying the upfront fee simply to have the consultant come to our home, walk with us briefly around the wooded, lawn, and garden areas, suggest taking down a tree or two and removing an old log, and then, a couple of weeks later, send an email to say how much he would charge for each day's work. This kind of service would have been provided by any number of landscapers without any charge at all. This may be much too h****** the representative of Superior Landscaping, who seemed to us a most capable, friendly, and courteous gentleman, but I have the feeling we simply wasted the upfront fee and I confess to being seriously soured on Angie's List. Sorry not to be able to submit a happier report.

Description of Work: Removed existing poor-condition shrubs and monkey grass; removed grasses / weeds that made up the "lawn"; planted four new shrubs on back patio and eight new shrubs in a new bed area in the front; laid down man-made "wood chips" that would not rot around the new shrubs; laid down sod grass in place of the grasses/weeds that were removed. Jon picked out what to plant based on my desire for something low maintenance.

Description of Work: We interviewed them for some shrubbery removal & to redesign some of our landscaping.

Description of Work: Cleared a steep hill at the side of my house of old Blue Rug Junipers and clover that had over-run the Junipers. Installed a 34ft by 12 inch retaining wall to help mark property line and to eliminate the clover from the neighbor's yard from entering my numerous newly planted Bar Harbor Junipers. Mulch applied ... looks beautiful!

Description of Work: We had a 10 ft. long X 2 ft tall landscape timber retaining wall built on a hill. There were considerable roots in the ground from a huge tree that was removed several years ago and the work required extra equipment to take the roots out before the construction of the wall and the fill. We also had 9 bushes planted and several old large forsythia roots dug out.

Description of Work: Due to living on a steep grade we have experienced excess water flow in the direction of our house & yard. The work involved grading the driveway, building a retaining was with timbers, installing a drain with trench directing water away from the house. Clean up and seeding work areas.

Description of Work: We found Superior Landscaping on Angie's List. Jonathan called us the day when we asked for him to come out and evaluate our hill in the back of our house. We have had a major problem with dirt erosion that went into our grass from rain and morning glory taking over our hill. Jon gave us a date when he would be able to start work and followed through. He worked two/three days on the project planting shrubs and moving our existing plants to help stop the erosion and runoff. He put in two layers of railroad ties at the bottom of the hill to hold in the dirt. He pulled all the morning glory up, he leveled the dirt and sloped it so the water would run off the back, and put out 40 bales of pine needle. He came out two additional times to spray morning glory that was popping up after the job. He also removed our fence that was of bad quality. We have had so many bad experiences with contractors but Jon came out and discussed his plans as well as spending 30 minutes on another project where we asked him to aeravate the yard. We were worried that our sod was being dug up with the holes after the job was done. He was patient and tried to explain how great our yard would look in a couple of weeks. He was correct and we appreciate his patience, time and calling us back when we called him about various things. Thanks, Jon! Description of Work: Reworked-redesigned-2 landscaped beds in front yard on both sides of front entrance. Overgrown shrubs were clustered together and needed better placement for a more balanced look. Additional shrubs needed cropping and a row of dead cypress trees needed to be removed from backyard.Spread new pine-needles in front yard as well as designing new landscape bed in back-yard.

Description of Work: The service that Superior Lawn and Landscaping performed was to aerate, seed and fertilize my yard. After that aerate service was completed, I called to have 2 green giant Arborvitaes replaced in the back yard.

Description of Work: Superior Lawn and Landscaping came out and symmetrically pruned scrubs and added pine needles.

Description of Work: They raked with the tractor, seeded, and fertilized the yard. They also buried some leaders from the gutter and moved some dirt to areas where water was pooling.

Description of Work: They did landscaping work in the front lawn. They installed new flowers, plants, and made the bed in the front wider.

Description of Work: Requested lawn repair in order to get our house ready for sale. Yard was in poor shape - weeds, bare spots, etc Although, it's too early to tell, Superior Lawn & Landscaping was true to their commitments; proposed cost and availability.

Description of Work: I had an approx. 25' x 25' section of my back yard that had large railroad ties enclosing 2 sides. The previous owners had used this area to dump leaves and sweet gum tree balls. It was also overgrown with small trees and weeds. I am having a fence installed and wanted to clear the 80' fence line and this overgrown area so that it could become part of the yard again. SL&L cleared out the entire area, hauled off all the debris, dug up and removed concrete from a fence that had been sawed off just above ground level. They also found a large black snake residing in the area and instead of leaving it behind or worse, they relocated it to one of the barns they use! (Thanks guys!!)

Description of Work: Grated backyard removing tree roots, unwanted tree saplings and and other debris. Seeded, fertilized, and put straw out.

Description of Work: The coupon purchased for a consultation through Angie's List printed with an expiration date. As that date passed before I could contact Superior, I mistakenly thought I was out of luck. The company contacted me and will be coming out to give a consultation on an area in my back yard. I really appreciate them honoring the coupon and look forward to hearing their ideas for the yard.

Description of Work: This was a consultation with a request for landscaping suggestions. We decided it was not what we would like to do, since we prefer food producing plants rather than decorative plants, and we were concerned that the plants he suggested would obscure the view, but he was very professional and pleasant to work with. We ended up finding a book on plants which thrive in North Carolina and found low lying fruit bushes which we will have planted by a local person.

Description of Work: Side yard was overgrown, weeds and ivy out of control. They cleared the area and put down weed blocker and gravel to creat walkway through to back yard. Restored back yard walkway as well.

Description of Work: The service covered developing a plan for landscaping the front and back yards of our house which included recommendations on trees and shrubs to plant; installation of a new bedding and renovation of several existing bedding; pruning of existing trees and shrubs; removal of trees, stumps, and downed trees; and improvements to the water drainage of the house.

Description of Work: Jon Branch came out promptly to assess water problems with the recent flooding. He walked around the whole house and yard, and looked carefully at the basement, garage, and foundation where we had flooding. I was very concerned about the water issues around our house. He assured me the problems were not serious. I felt so much better after his initial visit and assessment. He suggested some grading, adjusting gutters, and gave us an overall plan for landscaping the yard. We elected to do the things addressing water issues around the house first.

Description of Work: They planted 2 additional privacy trees and trimmed a lot of dead branches off of an unruly (and hard to reach) peach tree.

Description of Work: I contacted Superior Lawn and Landscaping to rebuild retaining wall in my yard as well rebuilding a walk way infront of my house.I received an estimate for both jobs on on June 6, 2012. The quote was reasonable and I instructed the co. to start the work.As soon as the walk way was completed, i wrote a check. Some time mid July the retaining wall was completed. Again I wrote a check for the remaining balance. During the process of building the retaining wall Superior Lawn and landscaping had removed brushes from my front yard. A large pile dead brushes were left on my yard. I made several calls to the co. for explanation. None was forthcoming.I ended up paying some one else to remove the pile from the yard.

Description of Work: I got a quote from Superior Lawn and Landscaping Inc to do the landscaping, drainage and irrigation.
