Ken's Tree Service

Ken's Tree Service took down a large oak tree in my backyard. Ken gave the estimate and was very thorough in setting my expectations for good things (like care for azaleas) and not so good (like tire ruts). Everything was exactly as he had said and his quote was reasonable. Also, when they did some freebie tree trimming in the front, I found the worker extremely friendly and helpful as well.

Had a little trouble with scheduling, but overall very efficient and very professional. Had all the necessary equipment and help to do the job well and quickly. Also quoted the job as a complete removal or just laying the trees down or just trimming.

In general, we were happy with the work that Ken's Tree Service preformed. However, there was some damage to wood framing of a landscape feature and a compost bin. Considering the difficulty of the job, this is forgivable, especially since we will re-landscape our back yard anyway. What was disconcerting was the lack of communication. We provided a sketch with all of the trees identified as well as which stumps were to be ground. This sketch was given to Ken Senior during the initial walk-through. The job was done under the supervision of Ken Junior, however, and the wrong stumps were originally ground. We had to physically show Ken Junior which stumps needed to be ground. That shouldn't have happened.

Tried calling several times. No answer and no machine. Lost some potential good business.

After seeing the great reviews on Angie's List for Ken's Tree Service, I called and left a message for Ken Olsen. He called me back the same day and I gave him a description of the work I needed done. I agreed for him to come by while I was away at work to see the job for himself and he left me a written estimate in my door when I returned home. Having had this type of work done before, I found his prices to be very fair and called him back to arrange for it to be done. About a week later, his crew came by to clear the brush and about an hour after they were done another contractor came by to take care of the stump. Everyone did a great job of cleaning up the work area and making sure I was satisfied before leaving.

We cleaned up limbs and cut up firewood. Trees were about 25 feet from home. Professional service. .only complaint was we were not contacted before they arrived. Fair price for such a good job.

Overall we were very happy with the service received. The guys were pleasant to work with, they did their best to minimize damage to our property while trying to access the back yard (several trees were scraped, but there really was no other option given limited space for the truck), the work was done quickly and well, and they left us with the chips as requested with an offer to deliver more when/if we needed additional loads! They can be a bit hard to schedule, but the pricing and service is well worth the wait! We were quoted over $2400 for the same job by another company and Ken's did it for about 1/4 of that!

It went fine - no problems.

Only minor damage was a single broken tulip - one tulip in bed of forty tulips. Unavoidable dents and divots in the grass caused by falling limbs or tree sections were carefully repaired by the crew. Frankly I was astonished at the lack of damage to structures and plants. The job site was cleaned and cleared and left in better shape than when they arrived. Ken's Tree Service quoted the best price out of five quotes, did the job quickly, professionally and carefully. The entire crew was very professional in their demeanor and behavior. They were polite, efficient and conscientious. I would give them the highest recommendation and would be happy to use their services again. Also after receiving the quote, I mentioned Angie's List and received a further 10% discount immediately and without discussion. A very pleasant experience.

They were very attentive to making sure everything was done as requested and cleaned up well. Will use again in the future.

Ken senior came out on a thursday to do estimate.this was for 2 tall damaged maples for cutting and three large trees to trim.When Ken junior arrived Saturday he asked exactly what i wanted done and what to be careful of,especially the neighbors property.Everything went very smoothly.everything was completed as planned until the last tree.the ground was very soft and Ken suggested wisely that we do it another time.I ask him if we could cut another tree instead and he said it would be fine.this did not change the estimate.to prevent damage to smaller trees large branches and pieces of trees were lowered by rope.this was a very pleasant experience and was completed and totally cleaned up in 5 1/2 hours.He will be called AND RECOMMENDED BY ME . Ken's Tree Service was researched and selected through Angie's List online. A service call was placed requesting a free estimate for the work required. An immediate and professional response by cell phone was received . About an hour later I had my free on-site estimate done in a friendly and professional manner. I was given a variety of options to consider with professional advice provided when solicited during a walk around the property assessment. I needed the work done ASAP and was scheduled for 9:00 AM the very next day! The next morning a three-man crew arrived right on time with a large tree service bucket truck and a smaller truck with chipper. The crew worked all day to complete the job. It was very obvious from the beginning that this was a team with experience and expertise. The crew worked efficiently and effectively throughout the day to deliver a top notch professional service. The clean up was meticulously done leaving my yard in better shape than before they arrived. If you are in need of a professional, highly skilled, honest, and reasonably priced tree service, I highly recommend Ken's.

I have found my tree service company! Ken is not only a professional, but he is also an understanding individual as well. I can't think of anything to complain about, these guys are a top-notch outfit able to perform difficult tasks and make it look easy. My experience with Ken and Zach has been wonderful and I highly recommend them to anyone. Their pricing was in line with or less than their competitors and the work they did was outstanding. Whenever I have some tree work I will call Ken because I know the job will be done on time and it will be done corectly.

Completed job according to schedule and within estimate. Crew was careful not to damage any shrubs or fence in vicinity. Removed limbs and branches and cleaned up. Cut trunk and hauled away as requested. Also cut and removed near-by dead branches and some small trees.

Called day after storm--Ken responded same day any came out and gave an estimate-crew came next day and completed job as directed-charged same as estimate.

Excellent service -- prompt, professional, courteous and very reasonably priced. They brought large bucket truck for cutting and another truck with hydraulic lifting equipment to haul off the trunk. It took 2 guys less than 3 hours to finish the job. I would definately hire them again.

Never received a call back or response after leaving messages and numbers. I was quite pleased with their work and glad to be able to work with them after the initial experience. I would definitely use their services again.

They gave me a really great rate for the tree removal.

He was very quick. His price and quality of his work were excellent. He was half the price than anyone else. I called him, and he took a look at it two days later.

This is a father and son business. The father came out and gave us the estimate which was very fair. My husband called him back to let him know they had the job and to discuss scheduling. It did take him several days to get back to us. In fact, we were getting ready to call someone else when they called back. From there on out it was smooth sailing. We were scheduled right away and they showed up right on time. We were very aware of everything we needed to do and how the whole project was going to proceed. They were to take down 3 trees and grind the stumps. One of the trees required that we get the cable and power companies to drop lines to the house. They brought all the equipment they needed and the personnel to complete the job. They were polite and professional. We will definitely recommend them to all our friends.

I called Ken's tree service and they came out and looked at the tree that was down and gave me their price to get the job done. I agreed with the price and he remove the tree in the time we agreed on.

I called Ken's Tree Service based on other submissions on Angie's List. Ken Sr. arrived on time to provide an estimate. He was very polite and explained exactly what the team would do. He made some recommendations and we proceeded to contract Ken's for the job. They arrived when they said they would, they did exactly what they said they would (and maybe even a little extra). They cleaned up after themselves as best they could. We are very happy with the services they provided and highly recommend them.

Ken's Tree Service was the first of three tree services that I found on Angie's List to come inspect the job in order to work up an estimate, and Ken Sr. submitted an estimate promptly after a follow-up visit to re-examine all that was involved and to coordinate with me the specifics of the requested services to be performed. Ken Sr. and Ken Jr. gave me the lowest bid for the job (the other two bids were $3700 and $7200). I was provided with documentation of their insurance coverage, including workmen's comp, which I though were essential to the awarding of any of the bids I received. The Olsens were very accommodating in working around my schedule so that I could be present when the work was done. They worked diligently, carefully, and expertly. The crew was genuinely nice and, while they did not rush, they were certainly efficient as a team. The nature of the job made it extend over several days, which was anticipated and made great sense, given what all had to be done. Ken's Tree Service has the equipment needed to perform this kind of major tree removal, including a bucket truck, chipper, and flatbed truck for hauling trunks. They subcontracted a crane and a stump grinder for this job; both of these were also efficient and well-suited to the work. We had absolutely no problems. I am pleased with how the job turned out and know that I would be happy to use Ken's Tree Service again in the future.

Ken's tree service was the last one to get back to me about getting an estimate. It also took them the longest to schedule when they were able to take the tree down. Their price was unbeatable by far though (Bobby's Tree Service quoted $900 for the same job but were the first to respond; Truluck's Tree Service quoted $700 and were the second to respond). The tree finally came down safely without any complications or problems. It seems the moral of the story is the longer you can wait, the much cheaper the price.

Great service; quick estimate, great price, job done when they said for price quoted. Would definitely recommend and use again.
