Gwyn is my "go-to" company anytime I need anything done. Every technician that has come to our house has been extremely knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Office staff and owner respond quickly to any of my requests for assistance. I recommend them regularly to friends and family!!

The most disappointing experience of my life. The worst communication and on site performance i have ever had. I am a Duke Energy customer and i waited 10 days to have a water heater replaced, after repeated phone calls to both Duke and Gwyn. After three visits and leaks after the installation, they charged me $1200 for a 30 gallon water heater. One of the most disappointing experiences of my life with any contractor. daveg

We've been working with them since 2012 and we have an annual maintenance contract for everything, heating, air, and plumbing. The fact that we have this contract, they come out whenever we call, we get discounts on all the services they provide, we never get overtime charges or charges for emergency or weekend.
Description of Work: The last time they were out was do a seasonal check.

Had to call back twice to schedule appointment. First scheduled time on Wednesday AM, plumber did not show up or call. Rescheduled for the following Friday morning. Plumbers shows up at 5PM. Lost a day and a half of work waiting on someone to show up at my house. Billed for a service call and a "tech" $180. for 30 mins of work and still did not fix the leak issue.
Description of Work: Tried to fix a leak. unsuccessful. Had to call in another plumber to finish the job.

Gwyn Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling is making a good faith effort to resolve the dispute. It has been out objective to reach out to the customer on four occasions to reach a resolution to the complaint. The customer’s complaint was received in letter form, immediately upon dispersion of the daily post on November 12, 2015, by the Gwyn Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Service Manager Jeff Clous. Mr. Clous phoned the customer at 3:55pm to get details of the complaint, as they were not described in detail to the BBB of NWNC. Mr. Clous also began an investigation into the complaint with the dispatching team, and had a conversation with the dispatcher representative Roger Hutchens, who claimed that he had indeed spoken to [Member name removed], and had inadvertently forgotten to book the original call-slip on the dispatch board. Mr. Clous discovered that during delays of the plumbing department during the course of the second appointment block, the customer’s assigned technician was later than expected, but spent an hour and a half fixing the original problem, which was a “shower diverter not working.” In closing out the invoice, the service notes on the invoice were described as follows: “Talked with customer about kitchen faucet drip, also tried to find leak on shower drain. No leaks visible. Sealed around the shower drain, just in case. He will let us know if it fixed the problem. Customer does not want to cut ceiling if possible.” The customer was charged $86 for the service diagnostic fee, and $93.00 for a Labor Only Repair – Tech Level 3. He approved the charges, but the technician did not collect onsite. On Monday, November 16th, 2015 at 9:19 am, the customer responded to Mr. Clous’ request for more details of his experience through an email. In the email, the customer stated that Saturday morning (the 14th), he found the leak (which one was not indicated) was not repaired. Mr. Buchanan did not contact our company for a call-back on our repairs, but made an appointment with another company to come two days later for an additional work order, which included even more plumbing repairs than originally indicated. Since receiving the email, Mr. Clous has tried three more times to reach out to [Member name removed] for a resolution, but we have not gotten a response. We are sending him an apology letter and gift card for his troubles. We have also dismissed the service and labor charges associated with his account. We submit this response, we are representing that it is a truthful account of our company’s experience with this customer.

Don't hire these guys. Not for anything. The heat pump never worked right. After two compressor replacements maybe a dozen service calls (many of which required me to lose time from work) , and the system still won't work right. I attempted to escalate the issue to their owner and got no useful results. I attempted to escalate the issue to their distributor and got a "Let me check into that for you"... and no call back, in a week. Today they were supposed to come over at 11 with a distributor's rep (they didn't inform me of this, I had to find out because one of their repairmen let it slip) and no call, no show. I'm filing a complaint with the State Board of Examiners, the BBB, and hiring a lawyer.

Description of Work: We recently had a problem with our central air conditioner when the condensation drain clogged and water began coming out of the overflow pipe. |We had used Gwyn for a furnace tune up the previous fall and were happy with the service so we gave them a call. | |They were responsive, polite, and knowledgeable but outrageously expensive. The entire repair took far less than an hour and all that was required was to blow out the clogged line and install a PVC union. | |Apparently they have switched to a flat rate system for repairs plus a $86.00 fee just to come out and this fee is not applied any of the service provided. Basically $86.00 for time and travel and it's all local. | |For the amount of time and materials used I would have expected the total cost including the service fee to be around $150.00 to $175.00

Description of Work: We called this company on recommendations from our Realtor. We only wanted an AC check and cleaning since everything appeared to be in working order. The tech/ended up selling my husband a maintenance plan and convincing us that we needed 2 new AC units and recommended replacing the furnace as well/I had a second opinion and was told there was nothing worn--no icing up, no loss of Freon and it appeared to the second tech that some deliberate actions were taken to our unit to warrant further service calls. They did clean the units which the second tech said were done well. The second tech replaced the missing valves and repaired the kinked hoses. I did not trust them based on this initial experience. I cancelled the maintenance.

My wife called Gwyn to the house to do telephone work based upon a good reference from a friend. He saw we had an active alarm system (ADT), said there was nothing he could do because of the alarm, he did nothing and left us with a $100 repair bill. If Gwyn could not do electrical work on houses with active alarms connected to the phone service, they should tell people that up front over the phone before they make a service call. Date of service was approximately September 1, 2014?

On 8/27/2014, our technician responded to a residential electrical service call for [member name removed]. He examined the interface box and attached a loose ground. He advised the homeowner to get a filter from WalMart based on advice he received for the department head to try to help the homeowner for an issue that was rooted with the phone line, not an electrical issue. He stated that the phone company would need to be contacted to ensure their service was operating properly. The customer was charged for the service call we responded to and the time our technician took in labor to root-out the issue. Gwyn's Electrical Department cannot interfere with home's phone lines, and cannot be held responsible for issues that do not pertain to our company. We are terribly sorry the owners feel we did anything wrong, but assure them we did everything we could to help them in their time of need, as they assumed they had an electrical issue when they called our company for help. We are concerned that the owner did not contact our company with their dissatisfaction with our services after 11 weeks had passed. Gwyn Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Cooling maintains a protocol to get approval from the homeowner before we begin any work or diagnostic, and our service call fee is always discussed with the owner at the time the call is received to ensure a clear understanding that our services and diagnostics are not free.

It was horrible! Un prepared, sloppy work and messy. He ran a gas line up through the floor in a very conspicuous place in the laundry room and installed a dented up pan under the water heater. (This is a high end house) He ran gas lines very sloppily in my new basement. To top it all off, he tied in a gas line that runs up to the 2 nd floor in a way that it covered a window. The siding contractor couldn?t box around the lines because he didn?t come to move it in time because he put other jobs ahead of fixing this. Now I have gas lines showing up the side of my beautiful new house. I will have more expenses in making this look right. They aren?t even finished because we are waiting on some inspections before making the water tie ins on the water heater and had the nerve to bill be the full amount. I?m not pleased.

We were surprised to find this review, [Member Name], and our management team is concerned by the nature of the way our company was represented with your words and complaint. After 5 separate trips to the property on October 6, 13, 15, 20, and 21 to ensure your work was completed as described in our estimate, and to accommodate set-backs in dates due to issues that needed to be rectified before we could begin our work, like our team being provided the wrong water-heater, which was purchased against our recommendations, and for the necessary items blocking our field of work on two separate occasions, we feel we gave you every consideration possible to ensure not only the job was done, and in a professional manner, but also in accordance to ensuring your happiness with our work. The final portion of the job is still pending your purchase of the stove/oven equipment, where we would make the necessary final hook-ups as described to complete the work. The work has not yet been invoiced to our billing system, as the call-slip is still open with our technician. We are at a loss as to how we can make this situation better for all parties--we are really disappointed that after all of our efforts, this is how you have chosen to voice any grievance without giving us an opportunity to make any necessary corrections, if any. Insofar as the pricing is concerned, our total fell under the $2,000 mark, and was approved prior to our starting the work. It is our hope that others coming to Angie's List to find referrals for qualified, accredited and professional contractors, in seeing your review and grade of our company, will not consider your testimony a factual account of who we are, and how we do business. We performed all items in the way you desired them to be done, and as our technician was directed. The serviceman was very courteous and responsive to our problem. They came out right away when I called them. This call was actually for a task that someone with household maintenance could have performed but that someone is not I. So I was very pleased that I knew about this company and called them. We have used them every time we have a plumbing or an electrical problem.

Description of Work: Had to replace a faulty valve in the Heat Pump but to do it, they had to drain out all the coolant then replace it all. Poor guy had to sit out there all afternoon but we fed him Halloween candy and offered him a coke! Everything was covered by warranty which he was great about calling and getting it all approved.

We have central air conditioning vents in our first floor. We needed the connection to the vent sealed as ants were coming in from under the house. They put some kind of special insulating tape around it that they thought would seal it. They attempted to do a good job, but actually didn’t do a good job. I have never called them since. The heating and cooling crew that they sent out didn’t work hard enough to understand the problem. As a result they didn’t come up with a viable solution.

A FRIEND HAD RECOMMENDED THIS COMPANY BY SAYING THAT "HE IS ONE OF THE BEST". IT DID TAKE HIM TWO WEEKS TO GET TO OUR JOB, BUT WE WERE NOT IN A HURRY. IT ONLY TOOK HIM A HALF HOUR AND HE WAS A NICE MAN.
