6/25/2015 This is a review from 5/7/2015. Jay first came to my house on 4/1/2015 to clean the chimney. We agreed to met at 4:00 pm. After, the cleaning, I asked about what it would cost to put a cap on the chimney. He looked at it and gave me several options plus saying it could use some repair work. I told him that I would like to have the repair work done plus have the cap powder coated in black. I asked if I would received an estimate. Jay said that he knew what I wanted and that I did not need an estimate as he was in a hurry. About 6 weeks later, he called to install the cap which we agreed to met at 4:00 pm. On the day of installation he called before 4:00 pm saying he had installed the cap and had to leave as it look like rain was coming. Also, he said that I could pay him with my debt card which was the first time I had heard of this was how he wanted to be paid, as I was expecting to pay him with a check, as I had done the first time. I arrived home at 4:00 pm and notice that the cap was too shiny to have been powder coated from the street. I got my ladder and went up on the roof. I found the repairs had not been done and the cap had been spray painted. The cap had several spots with no paint on them. I called Jay and explained that the cap was not powder coat and the repairs had not been performed. He said at first that this was what we had agreed to having the cap painted. Then he said that he had gotten me and another customer mixed up. He agreed to have another cap built and powered coated and he said that he would do the repair on the chimney. Waited another 6 weeks and my wife called him. Jay said that he would called the powder coat company to put a rush on the job. He called and said that the cap was ready. We agreed to met a week later on a Thursday at 4:00 pm. On Wednesday the day before he called and wanted to come early to perform the installation but still agreed to met me at 4:00 pm as I would be home from work. I said ok for him to start the installation early but I expected him to still be there at 4:00 pm as we had agreed. I got home at 3:45 pm to find that he had left. I called Jay and he said that he had finished the installation and that he had waited but it looked like it was going to rain, so he left. I mention that we had agreed to still meet at 4:00 pm to which he replied that he had waited. Then he said that he had to leave as he was feeling sick. I got my ladder out and went up on the roof. The cap installation and repair work had been performed as I had originally wanted. It looked good. I am disappointed that I did not received a written estimate for the cap and repair work. I asked Jay about this and he said that he only gives a written estimate if the customer ask for it. Also, even though it was an honest mistake, I felt I had to wait too long for the second cap to be installed. I do not understand why Jay would not meet with me after we had agreed several times to met at 4;00 pm. I work in a hospital and I repair equipment for the nurses and doctors. When I finish a repair, i take the piece of equipment back to the nurse or doctor requesting the repair and show them the repaired equipment. I demonstrate that the equipment is now working and make sure it is to their satisfaction before releasing the equipment back to them. I wanted to make sure that they are happy with the repaired equipment. I feel that this is a very important element in customer service. I feel that this part of customer service was missing since Jay did not seem to want to meet with me after agreeing to meet on several occasions.

They were prompt, clean, efficient and friendly. In addition, they had the best price of anyone that I spoke to. At a later date, they cleaned and serviced my parents' gas fireplace. My parents were very happy with their service, as well. It doesn't get any better!!!

The providers were punctual and friendly. They did their job swiftly and the firebox was spotless when they finished. Their inspection was thorough and included explanations of chimney code and their personal recommendations for the necessary repairs. We could not be more satisfied.

Jay and Josh are two enthusiastic young men who are very personable, honest and straight forward. They showed up on time., did the job and made several suggestions to improve my chimney. I'm having them come back and clean my dryer vent and paint the inside of my fireplace when they repair some masonry on my chimney. They did great work and pricing was reasonable.

They showed up on time. They cleaned up well at the end of the job. The work took about 4 hours total over the course of a couple days. We struck up a deal -- they lowered the price for the work in exchange for possession of the wood burning stove, which worked out well since we didn't want it anyway. We plan to use them regularly for our yearly chimney cleaning and they also clean out gutters, so we plan to use them for that too!

Work was performed in a timely manner. Price was reasonable and I would recommend A Cleaner Chimney to others. A+ on all categories. I only gave a B for punctuality because they were slightly late to the appointment time we set but they were very communicative regarding the delay and I will be using A Cleaner Chimney in the future for additional repairs to my chimney.

All went fine. They were very professional--worked efficiently--made me aware of cracking concrete and took a picture of the wear and tear on the top of the chimney. More work needs to be done--a screen has been ordered, and they are to return at the end of this week to add concrete and a rubberized surface to prevent water damage. The cost for having the bird nest removed and the chimney cleaned, as well as the assessment and measuring for the screen was 125.00. The cost to have the concrete fixed is 250.00. The cost for the screen is 150.00.

They arrived on time, explained what they were doing, cleaned up with no mess left behind and even lit a small fire in the fireplace to make sure all was working well before they left. I would highly recommend this provider.

Jay and Josh arrived on time and were very polite and professional. We have a wood stove that came with the house when we bought it a couple years ago and wanted to have it inspected before we tried to use it this year. They were very knowledgeable about woodstoves and explained how to take care of it. They suggested we have some work done to (a crack I think) to our chimney but saying it wasn't anything that needed immediate attention and the price they gave us to fix it was very reasonable so we will be calling them back out in the future and we will recommend them to anyone who may need their assistance.

Jay (A Cleaner Chimney) scheduled work within a couple of days of being called. He said used chimney and fireplace in back of stove were very dirty. Unused fireplace did not need cleaning. He gave us details of what he had found and cleaned and said our fireplaces and the stove were sound. I am happy to not have to worry about chimney fires now and we are ready for winter.

Jay arrived a few minutes prior to the scheduled appointment and did a prompt and efficient inspection and cleaning of the chimney for a wood-burning fireplace in an addition on the house. He also examined the original chimneys from bottom to top (in the cellar, at the fireplaces, in the attic, and with a visual inspection from outside) to help me know what I might need to do about their deteriorating condition.

I was so happy with the work that I hired him again to work on another house. Jay is an affable young man who knows his trade. He did not do anything that was not necessary and went out of his way to make sure that all of our problems were solved. I highly recommend him.

Robert was very pleasant and informative. He adjusted the chimney cap dampers and straightened the flue liners. He tested the draft. We arranged for him to return to repair the chimney cap as the cement is cracked and deterriorating from acid rain.

Great! A custom chimney cap was constructed based on the dimension and installed by a provider he suggested! Well worth the money!

Jay arrived on time and was very nice. The chimney was in bad shape, had never been cleaned before and had LOTS of bird droppings. Jay cleaned it with no mess. He said he was going to come back the following week to check a wet spot (said he was not to concerned about it, but wanted to check it) and sweep up the small rocks in my fireplace because they had collected a lot of dust, however he did not return, when I called him he said he wasn't going to make it. I was disappointed but I would use his service again because he was nice, did a good job, and I thought his price was reasonable.

I had a bird stuck in the chimney and based on reviews on Angie's List, I called a couple of A rated chimney sweeps to see if they did animal removal as well as cleaned the chimney. Jay called back almost immediately and let me know that he didn't handle animal removal, but gave me the name of a local pest control company he recommended (McNeely Pest Control) and after the bird was removed, he'd be glad to clean the chimney. I called McNeely and they came out within 2 hours of my call; however, when they checked for the bird, it had been able to find its way back out. Jay came back out the next day to clean the chimney and check on the cap. The job was handled thoroughly and very professionally. I will definitely hire again.

Robert (Jay) responded very quick and came out to give me an estimate. After accepting the estimate he gave me a date when he would be out to install but was held up because of the weather (snow). Was here installing just as soon as it was safe to get on the roof. I have a four flue chimney so the cap had to be special ordered. Jay took care of the measurements and everything fit perfectly. He did an excellent installation. Each time that I called Jay and left a message he always returned my call within an hour.
