Things went better than we could have ever expected. Corky and his crew were amazing on all accounts. Whenever I thought a project was overwhelming he was calm, cool, and collected and he came up with the best solution for a price that was far below what I had anticipated. Since meeting Corky I have referred him to all of my friends and family. I would never go to anyone else. Thank you immensely, Corky and Crew!!!!

Corky and crew did a beautiful job on our beach home renovation. He and his crew were kind, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. We enjoyed getting to know all of them and would definitely use them again. We are grateful for the time they dedicated to our project. We love our newly renovated home-away-from-home.

It went well. If there was a problem I would call his cell phone directly and he would come that day to fix the issue.

jobs went great, roof which was the only time sensitive job was done very quickly and professionally with quality work. Door/floor replacement was also done very well but we were not in a hurry so when the doors took a while to arrive that was the only delay, the quality of work was exceptional, we had replaced one of the doors when we purchased the house 12 years ago and it was not done properly. I was never pressured about payment and the job was done on budget.

Corkey and his crew were great, did a wonderful job. I couldn't be happier, and when my building got broken into he worked it in to fix that for me. I am planning on having him back again!!!!

I have never been more pleased with a contractor in all the years I have owned a home. Corky was very professional & from the first meeting he has been totally cooperative and professional. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure we got a totally professional job done in a punctual timeframe. I am planning to use Corky for some additional work including painting the entire interior of the house. The quality of the work is excellent and he deserves a very high rating.

It went great! Corky did a great job. He was flexible with the design process and very patient with us. He was a hands on GC and was at the sight almost always supervising and actually doing the work. I would highly recommend Corky and would certainly use him again in the future

Our project included a full kitchen remodel, complete flooring replacement, remodel of 3 bathrooms, painting and electrical work. Corky was very professional, cost conscious, punctual and delivered on our requirements. He offered design ideas that improved the remodel. Corky, Mike and the rest of the team are craftsmen, who understand how to solve the problems encountered in a project of this size. They have been a pleasure to work with. The results of the project are outstanding. We look forward to working with Corky and his team in the future and we would highly recommend them to work on any project.

Super nice and knowledgeable. The issue is we couldn't get a written quote with a general cost breakdown of the different options we were considering. We only ever recieved a lump sum estimate so its hard to get past that point.

We are very pleased with the quality of their work and their taking the time to explaining in detail what they would be doing and why, and their skill in alerting some serious problems of which we were unaware. We would certainly turn to him for other work.

Fantastic, Corkie and his guys were exceptional ! This was a massive Job, Walls coming down etc brand new floors, bathroom completely gutted and renovated. Corkie was a pleasure too work with. He was upfront when we hit snags and his guys worked tirelessly to correct little things that came up as they always will on these projects. I would recommend Corkie and his guys ! and we will use them again.

So far everything is going well. I’ve talked with them about coming out, they haven’t actually done the work yet. Things are progressing, it’s good. They did not charge me for the estimate. He is very busy, which I understand, so it took him a while to get back to me. He answered any questions that I had, even made some positive suggestions and very professional.

It was a great process. An estimate was done while I was working. The owner and foreman came on a Saturday to go over everything he had on his estimate. We agreed to some improvements and making the choices went well because they were both there. The work completed was amazing. I love my roof and my deck is beautiful.

I am very pleased with the service and he was very knowledgeable.

Corky did a wonderful job on the bathroom project. It looks professional, clean, and update to date. He has done previous project for the former owners of our home and we are still impressed with the quality of his work. Highly recommended and will use his services in the near future!

The project turned out very nicely. We love the tile work and the final project and feel that Corky is a great craftsman. We would definately hire him again. We did however run into some challenges and I would advise any future clients to be sure and have a project manager on site throughout the project. Corky's team came into our fully furnished 3 bedroom condo and began working without covering any of the electronics, furniture, beddings. They spralled out throughout every room of the condo and used our dining room table, teak outdoor funiture as their work stations. (one of our teak chairs was broken during the wear and tear) Corky did fix the broken chair. My husband and I live out of town and came down after the first week to an entire condo covered in 1/4' of dust and dirt. We spent 17 hours cleaning and then went to the store and bought plastic sheeting to cover all of our furniture, electronics, lamps, couches, chairs, etc. We were very dissapointed that our property was so poorly treated. I will say that the final product was excellent and we were very pleased. If I work with Corky again I would be sure someone was there project managing from the first day to be sure that the standard prep is done and care is given to personal items.

We sold the house before we needed to make the repairs, but we could not be happier with how professional Corky Gilbert was in responsing to all of our big and small needs. He took the time to really listen to our concerns; never once did we feel rushed or discounted. I definately would call him again should the need arise.

The work was excellent and the crew was friendly, prompt and thoughtful. Corky was there most days working with his guys and it was nice that he was there to oversee everything. Since we were there during much of the construction they were very accommodating. When we added a few things along the way, Corky was very open to changing the scope of the work and had a lot of good suggestions and ideas. You can tell he has been doing this a long time and takes great pride in his work!

Great! Corky and his crew did a great job. I had some major repairs and renovations completed while trying to sell my home. Very good price and completed all the work in time for the closing even with weather delays. Can highly recommend.

Job #1 - Corky and his crew do excellent work and show outstanding attention to detail. Corky is easy to work with. He offered suggestions, while the work was in progress, that we would not have considered - which improved the outcome tremendously. I feel that he is honest, strives to understand what I want, and makes suggestions that save money. He hires hard workers who are always respectful, polite and professional. They were considerate of our needs, and always left the work area clean when finished for the day. Job #2 - Because of the scope of the job for the new addition, we wanted to be sure we did our due-diligence, and requested quotes from three construction companies, Advantage Construction included. Not only was Corky’s bid far more reasonable than the others, he immediately took my drawing and made suggestions on minor design tweaks/options, as well as ways to save us money. He has a good eye for design, and offers solutions to problems without raising his projected cost. It was a no-brainer. We are not quite half-way into the project, and are very pleased so far. Don is a skilled carpenter, and it is obvious he knows what he is doing – the entire crew has done a great job, they have been reliable, have worked hard, and have been a pleasure to work with. I’ve already made a change to one of the window sizes after the wall went up, and Corky made the adjustment without question. If not here working himself, which he often is, Corky stops by every evening to check on the day’s work, and to see if we have any questions. I can’t wait to see the finished product! I will finish my review when this build is complete, but as of now, I give them an A+.

I found Corky on Angie's list, and am very happy that I did. He and his crew do professional work for a reasonable price. He made suggestions that saved me money, as well as suggestions to improve the flow of the space - just what I was looking for! I provided the initial layout, and with his eye for design he made suggestions that made the master bath look much more open with very minor changes. His master carpenter, Paul, is very experienced and does excellent work. He hires contractors who are respectful, polite and professional - they obviously care just as much about the work they are doing as he does. We are about to add a 700' addition to the back of our home. We did our due diligence, and got 3 additional estimates. Corky came in the lowest, by far. I trust him, have seen the attention to detail he and Paul put into their work, and know he will oversee and manage his crew and contractors in a way that will more than meet my expectations. He is creative and has already made some suggestions to the initial plans that will save us money, and will enhance the look of the space!

This was a complicated and extensive project. Corky and his team had 90% of the work completed within 6 months. I always knew Corky had my best interests in mind with every twist and turn in the project. As the demolition began, we uncovered new and unexpected challenges. Corky never waivered and was quick to find affordable solutions. If you want a contractor who is responsive (answers when you call), gets in the foxhole with you, and truly cares about the service he provides, then Corky and Advantage construction is the solution. Finally, Corky dealt effectively with the wilmington historic preservation committee. We live near Durham and had to rely on Corky to attend HPC meetings and keep our project advancing. He came through with shining colors!
