When I first contacted Jonathan, I used email. He called me the next morning and we set up an appointment for an estimate. He arrived on time and was very professional. We discussed the projects I was interested in having his company complete as we looked around my front and back yards. We talked about installing the French Drain, moving a tree, plantings, pruning, mulching, removing a pine tree and extending the patio. Jonathan sat on the back patio and created an estimate. I invited him in, and we went over the estimate. It was line item so it was easy to see how much each piece cost. We talked about what would be the best plants for my yard and where they should go. He had some great ideas and I was very excited about his design. He did recommend that we wait until fall for the plantings. I called him the next day to hire him for the French Drain as we had taken his advice on waiting until fall to plant. He scheduled it and we were set. A few days later he called back and his crew was able to come the next day because rain was impeding the job they were currently working on. We agreed they would arrive the next morning. When we hung up, my husband asked, "Don't they need to have all the underground wires and stuff marked?" So I called Jonathan back. He said since they were hand digging the trench for the drain, they would be careful and it would be fine. They came the next morning and got to work. About an hour in, one of the men asked us if we had a weed trimmer. We do, but it was new in the box, so my husband put it together for them and they used it to clear the tall weeds where they were digging. (It hadn't been mowed because of the standing water from all the rain we'd been getting.) So we lent them the trimmer and went out while they were working. When we arrived home, they were almost done. When I went in the house I went to turn on tv for my toddler and there was no cable, no internet, and then I noticed, no A/C. It was about that time my husband came in the house to report that the workers had hit the cable line. I told him about the A/C and we went to look at the unit because I'd already reset it and nothing was happening. The wires on the back of the unit were pulled loose and they had been gashed to shreds. Turns out, when using our trimmer, the worker had inadvertently caught the A/C wires. So I had my husband check the trimmer for damage and it was ok. I called Jonathan and told him what had happened and told him about the A/C. I told him I was calling our heat and air repairman and would let him know if that's why it wasn't working. Jonathan immediately apologized for what happened, said he didn't remember the weeds being so tall or he would have sent them with a trimmer, and offered to call the cable company for me. I accepted so I could call the A/C guy. Jonathan called me back to let me know that the cable company would be out that evening and I let him know the A/C company would be out first thing in the morning. (Confused yet?) When the A/C company determined that the issue was indeed the ripped up wires, I called Jonathan back. We had our only mis-communication in which I thought he was calling the A/C company and he thought they were calling him. I paid the A/C company and then photographed and texted their invoice to Jonathan. He said he'd take the expense off our bill. When I received the invoice for the drain, he had removed the cost of the A/C repair, deducted for finishing earlier than expected, and taken off nearly a quarter of what the work cost for our inconvenience. We did spend a long, hot, miserable night with a toddler kicking us in the face and hogging the fan. The drain was installed properly, the grass in our front yard doesn't even show signs of being disturbed now. The ground in the backyard is flat and even where they worked and we have had no standing water. We are very pleased with the quality of the work. We understand that sometimes crazy stuff happens, we live by Murphy's Law ourselves. Jonathan's handling of the situation was immensely professional, apologetic, and appropriate. We were impressed with him and the finished work, so will be giving his company a call for those plantings this fall.

I didn't get to use Southern Accents for my lawn irrigation repair, but I have a very good impression of their work ethic and integrity. I see why they are busy. The company they recommended provided me the service I needed within a week and I have even written a positive review of this other company.

Jonathan and his crew were fast and accurate. They know what they are doing. I was very impressed. The cost was under what the estimate was. Jonathan did some minor extra things for me and did not add these to the cost. I definitely will use this company again for some planting I want to do in the back yard. The French drain after some very heavy rain appears to be working well. I am pleased with the work they did.

Words fail. Absolutely stunning professional, high quality, attention to detail driven service produced spectacular results. I moved into this home a few months ago and the backyard was a primeval North Carolina forest. I had to have the trees removed to install a pool. Prior to this job, the backyard was a deeply rutted, scraggly mess of of vines, tangled roots looking desert left over from the tree service an the construction associated with the installation of the pool. It was so bad, it was scary. Jonathan came out for the estimate, arrived on time, took the appropriate measurements and produced an estimate prior to leaving. During the estimate, he provided advice on plants, appropriate sod, suggestions on how to best lay out the beds for a superior appearance and other value added information that none of the other bidders offered. On the designed day, Jonathan and his team showed up on time and began working with organized, focused intensity to accomplish the scope of work described above in two days. His team is probably the hardest working group of folks I have ever seen. Despite the heat, they pushed hard and had the lawn leveled, what seemed like miles of new pipe for the sprinklers laid and the lawn prepared for the sod by the end of the first day. On day two, after another bright and early, on time arrival and they began the backbreaking work of laying all the sod. I was startled with the detail associated with this. After Jonathan laid out the boundaries of the beds (measuring, not eyeballing), the team did the final clean up and started laying the sod. All curves to match the beds were hand cut, gaps filled with precision... more time consuming cuts to do that. When done, the sod was in tight, sprinkler heads tested for coverage and function and the sprinkler controller programmed. In addition to the work in the backyard, they filled in bare spots in the front with 1.5 pallets of sod. The team dug out the bad spots to ensure the new sod was EXACTLY level with the existing yard. With a final test of the updated sprinkler layout, they closed out the long, long second day. The team was top performing, all with great attitudes, remained positive throughout the hard, backbreaking work... and seemed eager to attack the tough problems. No arguments, no slackers. All knew their job and followed instructions. One final point. Jonathan is hands on. He did not just send a crew out and hope for the best. He was here the entire time and was as dirty and sweaty as his team by the end of the day. I could see the team responded to his leadership by example and were working hard to keep up with his personal pace. Would I recommend this crew again? I wish this review would go viral. No question that this is the best experience with a contractor I have had in my life. This is the epitome of a professional. WELL DONE!!

Very professionaL. The patio looks great

When I called Jonathan Swilley it was to have some hard scaping done and to have trees and shrubs pruned and weeds pulled out of the gardens. He was immediately responsive and visited me the next day to review the needed jobs and to give me an estimate. I immediately hired him and his two workers. His workers were proficient, completed the work without a hitch, and worked all day. The yard looked decidedly better and well groomed. I called him back to complete some other yard work and was very pleased. He did not do hard scaping which was okay, as I knew someone else who could do that. I have nothing but accolades for his professional.

Estimate was completed the same day with the installation being finished that week as promised. The workers are courteous and do a GREAT job.

IWe (husband and I) had an excellent experience with Southern Accents Landscaping and plan to use them again in the future. Here are our thoughts... The estimate: After initially having a hard time getting in touch with someone from this company, we were able to set up a meeting for an estimate. The person who came to my house, owner Jonathan Swilley, was ten minutes early (fine with me). He spent about an hour addressing wants, needs, and concerns I had about the project and wrote a very detailed estimate. He suggested a solution for a drainage problem, suggested altering our irrigation system, recommended two stone masons (one of which we hired) to build an outdoor fireplace, and recommended landscape design and plants to compliment our yard. We asked Mr. Swilley to come give us a second estimate months later after we had an outdoor fireplace installed, as our landscaping needs had changed. He was quick to return phone calls and set up appointments. The second estimate was equally as detailed as the first and less expensive than most other estimates we gathered. Mr. Swilley inspired confidence and so we hired him for the job. The Job: He was able to get started right away. He and his crew installed a french drain which has addressed the drainage problem in our yard. They also raised some of the low areas with sandy soil. They added landscaping beds around our newly built fireplace and along our fence line. Though Mr. Swilley recommended plants to go in those beds, he was happy to meet us at a nursery so we could choose for ourselves. We ended up following most of his original recommendations, and he educated us on the pros and cons of other plants we liked so we could make an informed decision. We even bought a few extra plants and added an extra bed to the project, which was no problem with Mr. Swilley. The plants were installed the next day and they look great. As an added bonus, Mr. Swilley's crew dug up and raised some of our existing plantings so they could drain better and thrive. They are looking healthier already and he did not charge us for this. Mr. Swilley and his crew also identified and fixed problems with our irrigation system, which is more my husband's department than mine, but it looks good to me. We recommend Southern Accents Landscaping to anyone looking for a quality job well done.

Job was perfect from start to finish. He and his crew were outstanding.There were numerous on the job discussions and revisions, all of which improved the final product.

I was really impressed with him. He is a provider who was more interested in doing more the right thing by us than putting in an extravagant solution that would have cost us five times more money. In fact when he came and did the work what he charged us was not as quoted but several hundred dollars less because he didn’t use what he thought he was going to use. So that really impressed me and I would recommend him to anyone. In terms of conversation with him he knows his stuff and I was really impressed with his work. He took out leveled and graded the side yard that was disappearing because of last year’s drought the grass all dried. He recommended putting in a sprinkler system over there as a strip of land did not have sprinkler system. He brought all the stuff and it was all done in less than eight hours. He made recommendations. He is really professional, really knowledgeable and I was really impressed with him and his crew. The rest of the land was also affected by last year’s drought and he told us instead of ripping the whole thing he tried to save it by putting some fertilizer. So that was somebody that I could continue to do business with and that which I can rely on.

Jonathan was great, his crew was great and it was all done in a day.

He was really nice. He told me that all I needed to do was level the yard, saving me a lot of money. He could have taken advantage of me but he didn’t, he explained to me how to do the work myself. I was very appreciating of him being so honest with me. I will call him in the future if I need work done.

Tom Swilley, owner of Southern Accents Landscaping, was a pleasure to work with....he was professional and knowledgeable. His estimate was competitive and he attended to every detail that was discussed during the planning of our project. We are extremely pleased with the quality of work that was done.

Concerned that we might have a serious lawn problem (ground pearl), we called four landscaping companies. One told us there was no solution. Two never returned our calls. Jonathan Swilling came the next day to look things over. He estimated the cost of replacing front yard sod, but advised us to try overseeding with a more resistant type of grass and waiting a year. We appreciated his honesty and will certainly deal with him in the future.

Southern Accents Landscaping, Jonathan Swilley, and his professional staff were at my home on time and started work immediately. All the materials were there and the removal of my old lawn started. The staff worked quickly and tirelessly removing my old grass and any tree stumps that were not needed. A pipe was installed to prevent water accumalting when it rained. They applied topsoil and continued to grade my property. St. Augustine was applied with expertise and then rolled. The whole project took about maybe 3 days to complete to my amazement. At compeltion of the job, they cleaned up and left my house looking like they were never there.

He promised me a cost estimate of a low-cost and more complicated solution within two hours and did so. Unfortunately, due to the poor quality of my existing equipment, I had to deal with the more expensive solution, but it was still a very reasonable price. He returned the next morning, did all the work quickly, cleaned up the area very well and actually wound up charging me slightly less than the original estimate, as the "work went faster " than he had expected. He also helped me reset a couple of spray and rotor heads. At all times, he was very pleasant, very helpful. I would use him again and also recommend him to others.

He did a great job. Completely gave me a new design to my yard. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and took the time to explain these to me.
