Description of Work: They put granite in our kitchen, bathrooms, and around the fireplace. There was a chip on the edge of the granite in the kitchen and came up with solutions until I was completely satisfied. They came out at least 3 times to get it fixed and they never complained and just wanted me to be satisfied with the job.

Description of Work: From start to finish, the owners, Jim & Holly Hugg, granite fabricator and crew were highly professional and supportive of our design specifics. Project included kitchen, pass-through and buffet countertops & backsplashes, all cut and installed with great expertise. The installation crew was excellent. They maneuvered large slabs with a crane to the second floor kitchen, were diligent with every detail, friendly and left the space very clean. It was a pleasure to work with this company and all was completed on time and on budget. We highly recommend South Eastern Marble & Granite.

We were very excited to go to the contractors business to oversee the layout of the granite. We loved the movement of the granite as did the staff we worked with. Unfortunately this was not relayed to the cutter or the installer. When the granite was installed the flow of the grain on one side went east to west, the flow on the other side went north to south, it looked very odd. We had them come out and look at it and they said it is what we agreed to. The issue became a he said she said, no win. But then they chipped the granite at the seam, not just a little chip a really noticeable chip. We had them try to repair it three times, it still looks horrible. I called the owner and she seemed very concerned when I talked to her, said she would talk to her staff and get back to me, this was 7 months ago. We have just resigned ourselves to the fact that we will live with this kitchen for a few years then have it re-done again, BUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE!. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOME!!! Not only did they screw up our granite they bad mouthed us to our contractor and ticked him off to us.

Bottom line, we just want anyone out there who is thinking of using the services of Southeastern Marble and Granite to know what kind of people they have working for them and how they will defend their employees to the extreme. Since no laws were broken and there are no charges that we can bring against Gerald Soto, Jim Hug and Southestern Marble and Garnite, our only course of action is to post a review such as this and hope that anyone thinking of using this compnay, thinks twice and then some. Please share this with anyone you think may be considering the services of Southeastern Marble and Granite. It is only a matter of time before Gerald Soto does this again and the next time, the outcome might not be what it was with us.
Description of Work: We contracted the purchase and installation of our kitchen counter tops with Southeastern Marble and Granite. They came to our home on Wednesday, Novermber 14th to do the installation. Four men arrived at our home to do the work and all was going fine until this happened: The workers had asked if they could use a bathroom if need be and they were shown where such was off the living room. One of the workers (Gerald Soto) went to use the bathroom but instead of using the bathroom they were told to use, he proceeded to open the door to the Master Bedroom and walk in. From there, he went through the bedroom to the bathroom where he could hear water running in the shower. He entered the bathroom and walked towards the back (15 feet from the door) supposedly looking for the toiiet which was in plain view. He then proceeded to slide the shower door open where my wife was taking a shower and look in. My wife screamed and he exited immediately. My wife got out of the shower, got dressed and had a discussion with another contractor who has been working at our home for a couple of weeks. The contractor then confronted Gerald Soto who admitted to walking into the bathroom and supposedly while looking for the toilet slid the shower door open. My wife called me at the office and I immedately came home and she also called the owner of Southeaster Marble and Granite (Jim Hug) and informed him of the incident and asked him to come to our home. When Jim Hug arrived, we walked him through the events and then he had a meeting with his four employees. Gerald Soto admitted what he did and we asked that he be removed from our property immediately. Jim Hug then stayed at our home until the job was finished with the other employees. We asked Jim Hug how he was going to handle the situation with Gerald Soto and he said that he would take the "appropriate" actions. We then followed up with the Chief of Security in our development and after going through the facts with him, he suggested that we contact the Wimington police department, which we did. After going through the facts with the officer who called us back, it was determined that there may not be any legal action we could take as the contractors were "invited" to our house and since Gerald Soto did not touch or physically threaten my wife, he broke no laws. The next morning we called Jim Hug to see what the "appropriate" actions would be and he said that he was going to meet with his partners and discuss how to proceed. We asked point blank, will you be terminating Gerald Soto from employment and he didn't have an answer at that time. Two hours later, I drove to Southeastern Marble and Granite's office and met with Jim Hug in person. After a few minutes of discussion, it became apparent that JIm Hug and his partners would not be terminating Gerald Soto and that he would in fact still be going to other people's homes to do installations. When I asked Mr. Hug what would he do if this were his wife and such had happened to her, he replied back "my wife would have locked the bedroom door."

They did a great job. It’s a lovely operation. They were very professional, very timely; they showed up on time and left the work site in excellent condition.
Description of Work: We bought a sink and an island and the countertops from them. The bottom of the sink was coated with a coating that smelled to me like tar when it was hot. They weren't responsible for the coating but it made my allergies act up. I had to have them come back out and I purchased a sink that didn’t have this coating on it. They took out the sink they originally installed and replaced it with the sink we purchased. It wasn’t a perfect fit but they came back twice to make it right and now it’s not leaking and it’s in there correctly.

The sales process for the countertops went very smoothly and professionally. Jim Hug (proprietor) made time to come into the showroom early to fit our schedule. The showroom had samples clearly labeled as to price range; all costs were openly stated.Jim gave us good advice regarding our selection. We agreed to purchase and a start date was given for the project which began on the scheduled date and was finished in 5 days, as promised. We were generally satisfied with the installation; although some seams in the granite were much more visible than we had expected. It had seemed to us that our electrical outlets were high enough on the wall to permit installation of standard backsplash; this turned out not to be the case and the baacksplash had to be taken back to the shop and cut down. We thought the charge for this--$250--was higher than it should have been. Nevertheless, we are satisfied with the results.
Description of Work: Replace already removed old kitchen countertops with new granite countertops and backsplash. Cut and size granite to fit the area.

Needed a piece of our existing granite cut out so new stove could be installed. i called southeastern granite at 9am. crew arrived ontime at 11am. took 20 minutes and they cleaned up. Just so relieved they could come so quickly since the stove is arriving tomorrow! Sometimes big companies are only responsive when it's a big job. but these guys really saved us for a tiny job. It went as it should - perfectly. What more can be said. They have a very large inventory of material, so, after we decided on the granite we wanted, the rest was just very professional, courteous and clean. We would use them again.
Description of Work: We needed granite counters in two bathrooms - a small job - and they treated it like it was a kitchen. Measurement and installation was quick and on time and they agreed to do some of the tear-out I had trouble accomplishing - at no charge. We have used other granite suppliers and this was the best in all respects.
