Options were carefully explained. Equipment worked well right from the start. We have used their annual maintenance program to keep the equipment running smoothly.

They fixed it, they were very good. They actually ended only charging me $300 less than the estimate.

The blower was still under Carrier warranty, new one was installed. Charge was for installation service only. They also made sure the air purifier was working. They blew out the drain line with nitrogen also.

When we had another company come out this year to do an inspection we found out that the panel had never been opened, the unit was NOT inspected last year by RJS. We've had to replace our unit this year and had the tune-up been completed last year we may have been able to avoid at least part of this expense.

The check up, as usual with this company, was thorough, professional, on-time, fast and neat. RJS installed both my systems several years ago. I completely rely on their judgement and work and have never been disappointed...ever. Every single interaction with these people, from calls for help (rare) to scheduling, has been exceptional. I highly recommend them for major installations and for service.

The technician was prompt, professional, and thorough. He inspected the heat pump and pointed out all of the things which needed repair. I approved the additional work, which included replacing weak and leaking capacitors and cleaning the blower. Since the technician was already at my home and the heat pump was taken apart, I did not expect to be charged a full repair cost for each of the 3 additional repairs that were done. These should have been add-on services and not billed at full price. When I called the RJS office to complain, I was told that their billing system only allowed them to bill at full price for each service, even though they were not being performed individually, an answer which I found totally unacceptable. I would hire RJS again but not before discussing the billing with them. Although the service was good, their billing reflects duplication, which I do not feel is ethical or professional.

This was an $89 big deal purchase. We are in Illinois and they are in North Carolina so my understanding was it worked quite well. It was fine. I'm sure they came out a couple of weeks after I bought the deal. Since we were not there we had to trust their judgement that they told us the truth. We took their word for it so, whether they are honest, I hope they are. They did come out promptly and were very nice on the phone. We had to pay additional above the price of the big deal because they replaced some parts. My renter said they were fine. Their price was about average.

When I called, they asked that I check something on my fusebox to make to sure it was something that I couldn't fix. They came out within a day, and fixed the problem. I felt that they were very honest and did a great job.

Showed up on time, found blower not working, picked up replacement motor, replaced blower motor and capacitor and rechecked system. No problems so far.

Went well, explained clearly everything that was done and that he was checking into.

Kevin was prompt, thorough, cheerful and personable. He answered any questions that we had. One interesting thing, within a week of the tune-up the AC went out due to a blockage in the condensation drain pipe. We called the company and a serviceman came out immediately, and fixed it. When queried as to why this happened right after an inspection, they agreed that the prior service person could have knocked debris loose, which just happens. They didn't charge for the service call, and he explained to me how to prevent this, and how to fix it myself in the future. i was very impressed and pleased.

The AC unit at my business completely died. I was contacted immediately after I placed the order and a time was set up for the next day to come out and look at our AC unit. Once the technician got here, it took him a few minutes to diagnose the issue with the unit. The part was ordered that day and the unit was repaired the next business day!

They were so helpful during the inspection that I called them when the condenser on my AC unit failed. They came out in a reasonable amount of time and did the repair. This firm is very reliable.

He arrived a few minutes early! He spent time in the attic where part of the unit is and also outside where the rest of it is. He explained the ages of the inside and outside machinery. No other company had explained that one part was much newer than the other. He explained how I could tell if I needed to change the air filter. Quite simply, it appeared to be clean because I could see through it. I had the service provider check the vent in one of my rooms because I thought the vent must be closed. He explained that the vent was open but that due to the location of the room next to my hot garage, the one vent probably wasn't adequate. I was very pleased with RJS Heating and Air, Inc. and plan to use their services in the future.

The service was good. They were very easy to work with and very friendly. I certainly recommend them. The servicing was like $75 and the full system install was close to $6,000 but there was some rebate so it came to about $5,000. It was over the Christmas holiday and I was expecting it should take a long time, but they worked around the holiday as far as getting out and getting in prior to the end of the year and deduct all the rebates. They were really great about working out when they can get out there and being flexible. Their price was comparable. They were competitive with anybody else around. The quality was good. I have no concerns about them.

RJS Heating and Air came to do a tune-up and inspection on our upstairs AC unit. They showed up on time and were very friendly. My wife was home by herself at the time and they made her feel safe which is always a plus. The technician was helpful and willing to answer all of my wife and my questions. Was very quick and efficient. Along with the doing the tune up they added about 4 lbs of freon to the unit. Would definitely use again!

Several weeks prior to the appointment, during the semi-annual "check-up" of our AC system, a serviceman from the company we usually use for our heating & AC work told us we needed to replace the entire first floor system. This surprised us because we were not having any problems with the system. His suggestion that we spend thousands of dollars on a system that was working fine seemed suspect. As a result, I went to Angie's List to find a reputable HVAC company that could give us a second opinion. RJS was offering a $68 heating and cooling diagnostic service, so I decided to contact them. On the day of the appointment, an hour before the technician was due to arrive, a woman called to tell me the appointment needed to be rescheduled. She said because it was "only a diagnostic service and my AC was working," I was a low priority. When I told her I had taken a day off from work to be at the house for the appointment, she said she might be able to send someone later in the day but couldn't promise it. Within the hour, a technician arrived. When I expressed surprise at his arrival, he said "Everyday is busy." He spent about 30 minutes examining the outdoor compressor and the air handler in the crawl space. His assessment was that the unit was functioning fine but could use a small amount of freon. As I was writing him a check, he told me I was fortunate because, if my system needed to be replaced, his company could not have done it. They only installed Carrier equipment and my 2 zone system used Trane. Having Carrier for the downstairs and Trane for the upstairs would not have been practical. Four days later, my husband discovered the exterior door to the crawl space had been left open with the lights on. Consequently, he spent a good hour crawling around down there looking for animals. We didn't want to seal up the space with a neighbor's cat or a squirrel trapped down there. Both HVAC experiences were disturbing. As a result, we decided to stop using our original HVAC company as well as RJS.

It turned out very well. They were here when they said they were going to be and worked around my schedule. The technicians were professional and friendly. Out of three estimates, their price was the best. So far, so good.

Thru are very nice people but: I Spent over 7 grand for AC/compressor repair/replace & a ton of work to be fine to vents/duct work. First time they came they were great. Second time still great. Third, fourth,fifth visit I'm tired of dealing with them on my only day off of work & sick of having an AC unit that doesn't work during the day! They sent a new repair guy each time & as nice as they all are I had to explain the same situation everytime to a new guy! It took weeks for them to figure out the issue and as nice as they are for that much money it should have been done correct the first time. Come to find out the brand new items installed had a broken piece that needed to be ordered. They are very nice and knowledgable but this is way too long to be dealing with anyone! I give them a "b" because it's average Not bad but not great (again only not great because they couldn't figure out their problem in the course of a month & then some!) but all very nice employees.

The technician was very knowledgeable and did his work well. We probably didn?t need to spend so much. See below. We had to deal with the failure of 2 HVAC systems within 3 weeks. We knew nothing almost about HVAC at the start. The web is an excellent source of relevant education, though there?s plenty of questionable advice out there (as with any other topic). Not into doing your research? Expect to get fleeced. We had estimates that varied by as much as 2-fold in cost. If you?re not on your game, contractors will sell you just about anything. Some expenses of thousands of dollars may net just a few dozen dollars in savings for just a few months out of the year. It?s typical to have estimates padded with replacement of perfectly good parts, unnecessary supplies, and accessories add substantially to the bottom line. Really want to get fleeced, if the breakdown occurs during extreme weather (hot or cold), let the vendor know you want it fixed ASAP. We had the opportunity to cope with part of the house sweltering and another part relatively comfortable. With the two breakdowns back to back, it got old but it helped us save thousands of dollars; upwards of $8,000 for the two installations if we only count legitimate estimates. Takes all the estimates and we saved over $12,000. We can?t be certain we have chosen the most durable equipment; that kind of data seems completely unavailable. There is enough information out there to learn which equipment is harder to repair. Remember that labor costs are a BIG component of HVAC work. If you have to buy a specially made, hard to find capacitor and it takes a rocket scientist working with a trained mouse to get it into a tiny space, you?re looking at several hundred dollars for what might cost less than a hundred dollars to do in a well designed product. AND, watch those servicemen. wait until they finish the entire review of your system and layout what it will cost to fix it. We payed one guy over $100 to fix something marginal on our air handler only to find out, when he went outside, that he suspected all along the compressor was likely the problem and would require replacement. On the whole, we benefitted by?hovering? over the repair and installation technicians. In the course of pleasant conversation, we learned tons about our systems as well as what else was out there on the market. These guys work in blistering heat, freezing cold, spaces so small and unpleasant no one should have to go there, and most people hate them because they?re associated with high expenses they do not understand (not the technicians fault). Most of these guys will appreciate if you show that you?ve made some effort to learn about their trade. They?re the first to tell you it isn?t rocket science, but these guys typically know a lot and are grateful for an opportunity to shine rather than be put down. Really, it?s a win-win for everybody. You save money and get a good education and they get a well-deserved ego boost.
