+ -1 moreChris Nienow said he believed he could recover my files and took the PC with him for diagnostic tests. Chris phoned me at least twice with test updates over the next 2 to 3 days, and to let me know the disks he had to purchase had arrived. On the 4th or 5th day he returned my PC, set it up, and demonstrated that he had not only recovered my files, but had saved the harddrive. That was 9 months ago and I am still using the same PC on a daily basis. It seems to be a tad slower than it was originally, but not enough to be irritating. For me the most important service Chris rendered was in recovering my files, which included several years of historical research and a partial manuscript that I had neglected to back-up properly. Moral of the story: When a lot is at stake, always get a second opinion.
Description of Work: My HP PC was in a mini storage rental space for about a year and when I removed it and set it up it crashed within a day or so. I called HP and after running several diagnostic tests over the phone I was told the harddrive was "fried" and that I had lost all of my files. HP advised me to trash it and buy new. I then called Port City Computers, which I found in the yellow pages, and owner Chris Nienow came to my home the same day. As I had never created a set of back-up disks for software programs, he advised that he would have to purchase a set from HP at approx. $50, which would be mine and delivered to me when he returned the PC.
