 + -1 moreEverything went well, I contacted Eddie the owner and described the problem (sent a photo) and he said they would have to physically look at it to evaluate the damage. I dropped it off a couple of days later and Harry the foreman took it into the shop and returned shortly with a quote of $85 to repair. The work was first class, couldn't tell it from new, would recommend them highly

Description of Work: I had four very good cherry kitchen chairs that I wanted to get stripped and sanded down to bare wood. Ed gave me an estimate from a picture that I mailed to him. They were done quickly and beautifully. The price was less than others that I asked. I will definitely keep using them.

Ed was wonderful to work with--promptly returned e-mail and phone messages. The table is beautiful. I could not be more pleased. The experience of working with them was outstanding.  + 0 moreExactly as promised. This was my father's antique English Tavern table that he purchased in London and shipped to the US. Because I use it in the kitchen it got a lot of use and the finish was wearing out. Master Craftsmen showed up on time to pick up the table. Ed estimated it would take between 3 and 5 weeks to complete the work. It was done in just over three weeks. They gave me a time that they would bring the table back and arrived exactly at the appointed time. The table looks fantastic. The stain matches perfectly. The finish is perfect and all of my old water stains and wear and tear are gone! I do not have to worry about water stains again. Very professional.

 + 0 moreMr. Mayorga and his crew did a great job, and had the chair back to me within two weeks. My old Lincoln rocker has never looked so lovely, and it doesn't creep anymore.
Description of Work: My antique rocking chair needed a new hand-caned seat in the unusual pattern of the back caning, and color to make it match; and the chair needed tightening. It also was looking rather sad and well-worn. Mr. Mayorga tightened the whole chair, caned a beautiful new seat, and freshened the entire finish.

Description of Work: My wife's piano survived multiple moves, but in the process the finish and the veneer became chipped and discolored. The piano bench was falling apart. Master Craftsman came out, did the estimate and performed the work. At no time were we displeased either with the service or the craftsmanship.

 + -1 moreEd came on time for the estimate, agreed to finish the table before Thanksgiving (finished within a week, so we had room to spare,) and did such a beautiful job he left our home with another piece of furniture to repair in his shop; a light colored leather love seat that needs cleaning and refilling of the cushions. Am sure it will be lovely too. It's difficult to find people who take such pride in and obviously enjoy their work as much as Ed does; we're very pleased.
Description of Work: Ed refinished a kitchen table and chairs (6) with natural maple surfaces and painted legs and aprons. He changed the color for us on the painted surfaces from white to deep brown. He also recaned a chair seat on an antique chair. Work was done promptly and professionally. The table and chairs look absolutely beautiful; as lovely as they were 20 (pre-children) years ago. We are thrilled that we chose to refinish rather than replace. The caning on the chair is perfect.

 + -1 moreOverall, we are completely overwhelmed with Ed's work. The two chairs are better than new again, and for the first time in a while they have been put back in service. Ed is very professional. He came when he told us he would, his appearance and professionalism were apparent, and he made us feel very comfortable with having him rework the chairs. Ed returned the mended chairs at the specified time, and we were very very satisfied with the work done on each chair. The price was satisfactory, and the experience was wonderful. We are excited about being able to list Master Craftsmen, Inc. of Wilmington, NC in Angie's List, and wish for Ed Mayorda many contacts for work because of this listing. In this day and time, there are so many shysters who want to take you for your money without doing good work. It was very great to find someone who has been in business for many years, and is so professional and caring about the quality of his work. Wee have found a furniture repair person who we will be delighted to recommend.
Description of Work: For several years, we have been intending to have a chair repaired. The chair is a dining room chair with arms, and one of the arms, which had been broken off before, was broken off again. We also broke part of the back of a favorite chair bought at a local consignment shop. We looked in the Wilmington, NC yellow pages, and did not find a listing for "furniture repair". The local consignment shop, "Ivy Cottage" is a favorite shopping place for wife Bobbie. When we could find no listing, we called Ivy Cottage, and they recommended Ed Mayorda of Master Craftsmen Services, Inc. We called Master Craftsmen, and Ed made an appointment to come out to give us an estimate on the repairs. He arrived at the appointed time, gave us his business card, and encouraged us to look at his web site for further information. Without looking at the website at the time, we were impressed enough with Mr. Mayorda to have him give us a price for the repair. We also felt good enough about the meeting and price so that we contracted with him and he took the chairs with him. He promised to return with the completed work within two weeks. Exacgtly two weeks later, he returned with the repaired chairs and we paid him for his work, which was outstanding.
