Marsh Painting approached us asking for work. I believe they likely called everyone in the neighborhood. We were looking for someone to have a few odd jobs done, so asked for an estimate. The proposed work included repairing rotten wood on the mailbox post, repainting the mailbox, installing a shelf, repairing a bathroom cabinet and repairing a kitchen cabinet. Daryl Marsh came to our home to provide the estimate, which we accepted, and that is about where the professional service ended. It took multiple phone calls to schedule the work and each time, Daryl did not show up and did not call. When we finally did speak with him there was always an excuse such as "I was out of town" or "my kids have been sick". After approximately 4-6 weeks, he did come out and repaired the mailbox wood. The new boards were cut crooked but that is the least of the problems. He painted the mailbox in a color that is not even remotely close to the one requested (and the only color allowed in our neighborhood) and did not paint the newly replaced wood. He said he realized the color was wrong and would come back the next day to finish the work. He left a saw here accidently so I thought he would at least come back for that. Now, that was approximately 8 weeks ago and we have had no luck in getting him to finish the job. We have made repeated additional phone calls and only managed to speak to him once. At that point I asked for my money back....yes, we had already paid him. He said he would come by the next day with a check and to pick up his circular saw. Surprise, surprise, no phone call and no Daryl. Yes, we still have his saw. We have already had the work completed by another company and it seems we are unlikely to get our money back from Daryl. It has been 4 months since we hired Daryl Marsh to complete this job and he clearly has no intention of doing so and no intention of refunding our money. If you ever come across Daryl Marsh/Marsh Painting my advice would be to stay far away!
Description of Work: Replacing rotten wood on mail box post. Repainting mailbox. Several boards on the mailbox were replaced, however the new boards were not well cut / straight. The mailbox was painted in a completely different color than that requested and the new wood was not painted at all. The additional services inside of our home were never completed at all.
