Description of Work: We were very excited to remodel our bathroom and had visited the K&B gallery in Raleigh. The staff are professional, helpful and pleasant and have a very good reputation, including the owner Steve. We thought the Wilmington store would run on the same principles and ethics. After many problems I took the company to small claims court which was dismissed due to us signing a contract that we were told was not final. We still have poorly constructed cabinets that we couldn't use sitting in the garage and limestone tile that were the wrong size. They had a $20,000 deposit that we spent years trying to get some of back. I told them to stop our order as soon as we got an email from Gordon saying he had ordered all materials even though many of them were to be decided later. It was the most disappointing experience we have ever had in retail. This process lasted over several years and I can't remember the dates. We did eventually get some of our deposit back. |

Our grade is not based on the end product, clearly, its based on the process of the remodel and our experience. Things started out quite well actually. A specific designer was recommended to us and we were lucky enough to get squeezed in just before she left to pursue another opportunity. We are extremely happy with our entire design, the space has become a joy in our lives. Unfortunately, we feel, Kitchen and Bath Galleries as a company had very little to do with the end product. Once our designer left K and B for good she handed our job over to another "designer" with the company. The new “designer” was nice and polite, but generally, in our opinion, completely uninterested in our job. Any information we needed we had to track down. Any scheduling of deliveries or decisions we had to make we had to call and ask about first. There were times I would get off the phone and wonder if anything would have happened at all if we hadn’t initiated it. Basically, we paid them a lot of money to do a lot of our own legwork. Fixtures of various types were given to us or delivered to our home wrong, and it was only because we happened to peek at the items before they went in that we discovered that they were the wrong finish/size/type. And when we would call to let them know, it was always a computer error or an item miss-sent by the factory, or our “designer” was “out of town” when said wrong item was delivered. Well on occasion we understand that happens, but why did it ever make it all the way to our house?? Why were items not being checked as they arrived in their office? If we happened to not check it out, it would have been installed that way, wasting time and money. This became the most stressful part of the project; we began to feel as if we had to micromanage their part of the remodel. Over and over again I felt lucky that we were living in our house during our reno and that our contractor was also paying close attention, or who knows what we would have ended up with. Our renovation ended up taking around 8 weeks. And during that time (40 business days) our "designer" only stopped in 3 times, and one of those times she was 4 hours late for the appointment for our granite template, which she never acknowledged. Luckily our contractor happened to be there that morning and was able to help the granite rep since he had a lot of misinformation from Kand B. We are certain our granite would have been completely wrong otherwise. On top of this, the granite rep also forgot to take our sinks with him, which, as we understand, our Kand B "designer" should have been responsible for, but she was not there. There were a few other incidents that destroyed our trust in them regarding corrective orders. I will spare the space of going into detail, but I will say that we were flat out lied to at least twice about the timeline of a few replacement orders, and then given bad information in all the days following up, and none of this was ever acknowledged by our "designer". We understand mistakes are made and oversights happen and that they can be embarrassing, but this incident showed a complete lack of respect for us as customers and the lying only increased our displeasure with the situation. The remaining advice we have for those who do still decide to go with Kand B, unless you're short on time and have the money to spare, we suggest shopping around for your own fixtures, tile, gadgets, lighting, appliances, etc. We understand that they need to make their money with some of these markups, but we were able to save several hundred dollars shopping on our own and know we would have saved closer to a thousand if we’d had time to do more. The only circumstance that has saved this review from a lower grade than the one given is the kindness and cooperation of the manager there in solving a remaining minor issue we have, I regret not dealing with her earlier in our process.

We thought they could do a good job. They seem to have lost interest but didn't have the courtesy to tell us.
Description of Work: We visited Kitchen & Bath Galleries to discuss a kitchen renovation. A representative then visited our home to discuss the work and promised an estimate. We called a few weeks later and were told that they were busy, but that they would send an estimate. Six weeks later, we haven't heard from them. We found someone else, who did an excellent job.

Gordon took our idea and perfected it. His attention to detail and ability to show you what you want was wonderful. He is attentive and pays attention to what you want. Once he understood what we were looking for, he made our idea better. Throughout the process, he was courteous and professional. There is no pressure to buy anything on the spot. He presents you with a product and leaves the rest of the decisions up to the customer. It also helped that he had a very good relationship with the general contractor he works closely with, Bachert Builds. Together they gave us everything we wanted and more. I would definitely use Gordon and Kitchen and Bath if we need more assistance in remodeling our home.
Description of Work: Gordon completed a renovation of our upstairs bathroom and bedroom. We had three bedrooms and one bathroom on the top floor of our house. We wanted to make the bathroom into a master bath and split one of the bedrooms into a guest bath and master closet.

Projects were carried out in conjunction with Bachert Builds (also reviewed) and we were very impressed and extremely satisfied with the level of competence shown in the designs submitted by the company's designer Ms. Jenny Roush. Ms Roush showed a wealth of talent and insight in interpreting our vague ideas and turning them into outstanding results. We have now a superb new kitchen and a really wonderful 'art-deco' master bathroom. We can recommend this company, and Ms Roush without hestitation, (and Bachert Builds) to anyone who wants first class quality for home improvement projects.
