Five Star Painting of Wilmington

I set up an appointment, over the phone, for a free estimate after reviewing the company on Angie's List. The appointment setter was very nice. The General Manager, however, did not show up for the initial estimate. After a phone call to the main office, the General Manager came within a half hour to conduct the estimate. He apologized and said he did not receive the appointment on his cellphone. After the work was discussed, he offered a verbal estimate only; no written estimate. After questioning the cost several times for justification, which seemed high, there was no negotiation. I even inquired about the advertised $50.00 coupon on Angie's List, after the price was quoted, but he did not adjust the price any further. Having read the reviews on Angie's List and under a time line for the project, I opted to proceed with Five Star Painting. At the time, I had no other estimates. The project was attentively scheduled for two days out. However, I received a phone call that the crew could come as early as the next day. They arrived promptly, including the General Manager and Owner. After an initial walk through, the crew worked fast and efficiently; completing the job within approximately six and a half hours. The Owner called to ask me to do a walk through with the lead painter. Though there was a notable language barrier, I was able to communicate enough with him to address my concerns; which he promptly addressed. The Owner requested that I give the lead painter the check upon completion of the job, which I did. Neither the Owner nor the General Manager took the initiative to come the residence to overlook the job for a final inspection. I took the initiative, however, to call and discuss the job and my concerns with the owner. I did receive a phone call from the General Manager, two days after the job was completed, to see if I was satisfied. Subsequently following the completion of the job, i had a very reputable contractor in my home for another project. I asked him what he would have charged for the same work Five Star Painting had completed. He estimated $600.00. That would have been a 40 percent price reduction from the price I paid. In closing, the paint crew did a great job and the quality of work was acceptable. Punctuality, professionalism, and pricing could be improved upon in the aforementioned areas.

The staff was amazing, they finished the job in three days and they did an amazing job! Once the job was completed, the owner himself came in and did a walk though to make sure everything was good and I'm very happy with the results!

The people at Five Star Painting were both pleasant and professional in all aspects of the job from arranging the appointment for an estimate to the final walk through and completion of the job. I was pleased to see the level of detail that the estimator provided, the suggestions regarding the types of paint needed for a quality job, and the actual conduct and work ethic of the painters. The lead painter was very knowledgeable and managed his crew effortlessly. He was easy for us to work with. He regularly checked to see if we were pleased with the progress of the job. During the job, there were a few areas that needed painting that were not part of the estimate. Those areas were quickly added to the job at a reasonable cost. The crew was willing to help us put the furniture back in place. The only thing I would recommend that would have improved an already great job would be more attention to covering the hardwood floors. After the final walk through was completed and the crew had left, we found a small problem that needed attention and the lead painter came the next day to clear the problem. I would definitely recommend Five Star Painting to my neighbors.

5 Star did a good job but are very expensive. I kept track of cost and materials for the job duration. 15 gallons Ultrahide 150 for the walls at @ $20 ea. = $300 5 gallons Ultrahide 150 for ceilings at @ $20 ea. = $100 3 gallons ProClassic interior acrylic latex for trim and doors at @ $65 ea. = $195 Various painting supplies = $200 100 man hours (2 painters working 4-10 hour days and a 3rd working 2-10 hour days) at @ $17/hour = $1700 All inputs < $2495 Price Paid = $3500 I allowed for more paint than was actually used and a generous hourly rate to air on the side of fairness. If I had it to do all over I would have shopped the job around first. Lesson learned Also to be fair, the guys did a good job and were professional.

They did the job in the time they said they would take to complete it. I was pleased with the results.

They did a great job. I had a little trouble communicating because some of them did not speak English but that wasn't a problem. They did an excellent job and that's what they were hired for. We really weren't concerned with the price; we were looking more for quality. They were professional.

I didn't have any issues since the service was provided. I would recommend them because of their cost and their professionalism.

They're excellent and they're great. We're getting ready to use them in the business that I work for now. We're getting ready to have them do the interior painting there. I didn't have any dislikes. They did a great job. They were efficient and they cleaned up after themselves. There was no mess. It was very professionally done. There was no streaks. They're also the best priced.

Five Star did an excellent job. They were careful to prtect planting (and even a bird nesting box nearby). They cleaned up thoroughly. I will use them again soon.

I hired a painter to paint my house in Wilmington. The painter I hired assured me that he could have my house painted in 4 days. He was aware that my wife had taken her vacation that week to be on hand for the job to be done. We have not yet moved into the house. This painter came with one helper on the first day and managed to paint the ceilings in 2 rooms plus an entry foyer ceiling. On the second day he came alone, but assured me that he was trying to have a few people come and help. On the third day he came alone again. At this time he had just finished painting one room. This painter worked a total of 13 hours in 3 days. That's when I called Five Star Painting from an on-line search and Mr. Tanner Green, Owner/Operator returned my call within 30 minutes. He arrived at my house within the hour to provide me with an estimate. He not only provided me with an estimate, but it was the same amount that I was going to pay the other painter. Mr. Green then suggested that his top foreman/ painter come to the house to make sure they could do the job within 2 days. They both arrived at 6:30 pm on Wed. and assessed the job. They told me they could complete the job in 2 days. I immediately fired the first painter. Five Star Painting's crew of 3 showed up at my house at 7:40 am on Thursday, as they said they would and started immediately. They worked until 7:30 that evening and returned at 8am on Friday Morning. By Friday at 12:30 pm the entire house was completely painted. They not only completed painting the entire house in 16 hours, but they did it meticulously and paid extra attention to details. I did a walk thru with the foreman of the job and he had one of his crew follow us and do whatever retouching was necessary which turned out to be minimal. These guys were fantastic. Not only excellent at what they do, but they were also courteous and friendly. I consider myself lucky to have found them and my only regret is that I didn't have anything else for them to paint at this time. My realtor came by to say hello to us and noticed the job they were doing and asked for the name of the company. She said that she will recommend them to her customers and friends. Thank you Five Star Painting and Tanner Green for coming thru for us and providing us with the great feeling that we were able to return home knowing that the house was painted and painted so perfectly. Your guys were amazing!!!

Tanner came when promised and delivered a quote on the spot. The work was promptly scheduled and performed in the timeframe promised. I can't say enough good things about Ismael and Selben who did all the work in a professional manner with excellent results. The cutting at the color change lines was crisp and clean; their attention to detail really made a difference. The job site was clean and they even spent part of their Memorial weekend finishing the job. I will need to make only one phone call next time I have painting to be done - Five Star Painting.

They were very, very good. Very efficient and prompt, courteous and clean. Everything was wonderful.

They did an outstanding job but they were a little bit on the pricey side. They were very efficient and the two guys who came and did the actual work did an outstanding job. It took them all day but they did an excellent job. There's nothing bad about them but I just felt that the price was a little high.

It went very well, I was very pleased. They started and finished on time. They used very good paint. The quality was great, and they also had interior decorator to help pick colors for each room. 5 painters came everyday until it was finished with no interruptions. I would recommend them to anybody.

Tanner and his crew were very punctual. They came and provided a written estimate the day I called and were able to set up an appointment to do the work the following day. The painting was professional and when a few small places were missed, they willingly came back the next day to fix it. I would recommend them to anyone.

I am a perfectionist - I believe the services provided are as near perfect as I could have gotten. I have recommended Tanner and his staff to neighbors and friends and several have used their services. I have seen the results and will continue to recommend Five Star Painting.

Tanner was great to work with and very cooperative. His team leader Wilmer and the entire crew was hard working, punctual, and reliable. They did a great job and when they were done, cleaned up everything up daily. Would definitely use them again.

Cleaned,repaired,and restrained cedar siding on outside of house. Removed popcorn ceiling in two rooms and painted the rooms.

We are very disappointed. We made an appointment to get an estimate done but we waited for an hour and they never shown up. And they did not bother to call to tell us that they could not make it. I hope they do have a reason for not showing up and now calling. I chose them because of the good review on Angie's list. This is my first try on Angie's list. This is also disappointing.

Fine, they power washed in one day, made repairs and did painting the second day and sealed and painted the decks the third day.

Five Star Painting's price was extremely reasonable especially after the discount they gave us which put them a little bit lower than some of the other companies. We just felt more comfortable talking with the owner of the company about what he was going to provide in the service and the people he would have out to come to do the work. We were very pleased with the price and one of the reasons we chose Five Star Painting. We were pleased with 98% of the work because you're always going to find some stuff after the fact like touch ups. Some of it we may have caused by moving furniture around so we're not saying they're responsible. We called them again to give me an estimate on some further painting and repainting.

I got them from Angie's List. I just went to Sherwins-Williams, picked the color and let tanner now. Although I told them not to worry about the carpet and that we were replacing the floor they still were careful. They were punctual and very friendly. We were very pleased with the paint job they did and they cleaned up the mess. If I had to have some other painting done I would use them.
