David James and Co

I hired David James to build my beach house at Figure 8 over two years ago. The house is still not finished. It has been delay after delay, and all are inexcusable. I had to hire an attorney to contact David to even get a CO on my home. Even then, it is weeks from being finished. Gas lines are in the wrong place, rooms were painted incorrect colors, windows were off center of the architectural plan. The HVAC was put in the wrong place. If you are seeking to build a custom beach house at Figure 8, do not use David James. The HOA at F8 is aware of all of these issues and I was told they had heard them all before. They are now considering banning him from building on the island. David will go on vacation to Mexico and leave your house sitting for weeks. Shoddy work. Do yourself a favor and use a builder who performs quality work. That person is not David or his foreman, Casey Williams.

From start to finish this project went well. I knew what I wanted as far as electrical requirements, water hook-up, and HVAC. Mr. James took care of all the permits, hired all subcontractors, and ensured the work was done to specification. Work required removing a tree, laying a foundation, framing, and finishing a 15.5 x 22 ft space with exterior door and french door access from garage.

Project went great. Few minor hiccups that were generally beyond the control of the contractor. The contractor did an excellent job in terms of response to issues and professionalism. We would definitely use again for future projects.

He was very good and had access to the best people like electricians, painters and plumbers. He has been working here for a long time and so he knows who they are. He was on time, on schedule and on budget. They concentrate on building, engineering and home renovation. They did a super job. He takes small projects as well as big projects. I hired him just before he got three new projects. There were a lot of unique things that I needed which they did for me. The addition just blended with the neighborhood and we couldn?t notice any difference in the house. His prices was in the ballpark. It was a terrific experience.
