I had been doing business with Bob (owner) for 15 years so when my pool liner needed replacement I contacted him to do the work. He had done the previous replacement and other work that was fine. The liner itself was under warranty so I had to order it through him. The liner came in in March of 2017. He started the replacement at the end of May. It was removed on June 1 or 2. I was told it would cost $1500. I was required to pay $1000 up front. He also claimed my well point (where the ground water is pumped out) was broken and need repair to the tune of another $1500. His employee dug and dug but could not find a problem. He wanted to start chopping up stamped concrete to find it. We said NO. The employee he hired (Julio) did all the work and was not paid so he came to me refusing to install the liner until I gave him $1200 to repair the vermiculite. It is now July and the liner has been out since June. The first written estimate was given to me June 26, 2017 was now for $1800 (was to include install, new face plate, return eyeballs, face plates, drain cover, vermiculite repair up to one bag, removal of old liner and tax, shipping and handling) plus the $1200 for bottom repair which shows included in the $1800. Only a bag and a half of vermiculite was used. The price had gone up $1500. It is now July 6 and still no one has showed up to drop the liner in. Additionally the vermiculite repairs are now damaged having sat out in the rain and sun. We have been told they would install several times but no one shows up. On July 6 I get an email saying it's too hot and he can't do it. He'll do it when it gets cooler. No idea when that would be. NOTE: I needed to put my house up for sale but couldn't due to the pool issue. My husband and I had had enough. He called a few other companies and got Wilmington Pools to schedule it for July 11. They showed up, dropped the liner (using the well point Bob said was broken) and started filling it that day. Bob came by and was confounded that the well point was fine. I had paid out $1000 to Bob and $1200 to Julio. I had to pay another $1550 ($350 of that was for vermiculite repair) to get my pool liner installed. Bob at Coastal Pools took $600 of my $1000 for well point repair that wasn't even broken and I only got back $400 of the $2200 I paid out for work that was NOT done. I did not get any of the $1200 back. Coastal Pools held my pool hostage to get more money out of me. Don't let this happen to you! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING related to a pool or spa!

Response from COASTAL POOLS & SPAS
First and foremost lets start this response by saying you have to take this review from where it's coming from. This women is known for her poison pen. Just ask the management at Baja Spas about this women and believe me they will let you know. She starts off by saying that she's been dealing with my business for fifteen years and now this nasty review shows up. Why would this women deal with us for all these years and then this? Initially she contacted me regarding another liner replacement, that she had a warranty case with Latham Liners (another warranty case with this women, "The Warranty Lady"). I found it hard to believe that Latham would grant a full warranty on a six year old liner for her claim about staining. The staining on this liner was not a warranty issue as far as I was concerned. After twenty years in the pool business, I knew exactly what caused the liner stain, it's called liner fungus. The vermiculite base under the liner has a fungus, mold and algae build up on it from the high ground water table in this area. It's going through the liner. I advised this women from the get go that I wasn't interested in doing the liner again after the bad experience we all had with dealing with her husband the last time we did it. She stated that Latham would replace the liner to the previous purchaser only. I advised her that I would do it if I dealt with her and not her husband. She then stated that I would deal with her and not with that , bleeping, bleep, bleep . The only problem is that she never lived up to this agreement. The reason she never lived up to this agreement is that she doesn't get out of bed until noon everyday. So when issues needed to be discussed she was in bed and then here comes the husband with that frown and the typical nasty disposition. We all just wanted to leave, not a nice environment to be in. So now lets look at the facts. She has most of them wrong because she wasn't there, she was in a dream world. The charge for the liner replacement is $1800. Has been for at least ten years. She then states later that I said $1500. WRONG! She wrote a check for $1000. (Deposit). In the end she was refunded $400. The following is what the $600. entailed: 1). Ordered the liner. 2), Paid for the shipping $95. 3). Delivered the Liner to her house. 4). Brought all the equipment for installation to her house. 5). Removed the old liner. 6). Brought the old liner to the dump, paid County charges 7). Purchased fungicide and bleach 8). Sprayed the vermiculite base with the fungicide and bleach 9). 12 bags ($30.) ea of Vermiclite/Portland base, for removal/replacement of section of slope 10).Gas/Miles/Numerous trips The well point would not work after trying it several times. Spoke with the Wilmington Pools who stated that it took 45 minutes before his pump was able to get the well point to pump. If they wanted to run their pump dry for so long and risk burning up the seals/motor that's the chance they were willing to take. I contacted Oceanview Pools to attempt to unclog the well point and had him remove/replace the slope that was constructed improperly when they had the pool installed. I provided him with the vermiculite/portland base. She doesn't even know this was done because she was sleeping during this repair. She also states that only 1 an 1/2 bags of vermiculite was used. How does she know how many bags were used she was in BED. Oceanview Pools has pictures of all his repairs. Is it possible that the work performed by Oceanview Pools on the well point that he was able to break an obstruction free. I don't know and neither does she. Of course it's possible. She states that she paid me $1200. for his services and that he's an employee. She never wrote me a check, has no proof that she wrote me a check and he's not an employee. She paid Oceanview Pools for his services. What does she expect. They negotiated with him. She also states that I tried to get more money out of them, Think about this now, if I was trying to rip these two idiots off why did I give her back $400. Makes no sense!!! Now lets address the time frame for this installation, weather conditions, numerous thunderstorms and intense heat just about everyday (typical weather for this time of year). When the heat index was 105 degrees on the surface it's probably 130 degrees in the hole. I make sure my workers don't get heat stroke apparently she could care less. What else is new! Made numerous repairs to pool base only for a T-Storm to roll over and wash it out. More and more vermiculite which she was never charged for. This went on and on. We went there one day to drop the liner when the forecast said 10% precip., when we got there the sky opened up and their goes more vermiculite. Again she doesn't have clue as to how many times we were there. She was dreaming. All of the aforementioned is sufficient grounds to believe that this nasty, absurd review is groundless. She wrote this review not knowing all the facts because she wasn't around for the events because she was in La La Land. As far as me holding her pool hostage. Really! The one being held hostage here is herself. She's a hostage to her failed marriage. Contractors of America do not contract with John & Elly [Member Name Removed] because this is what's going to happen. Hopefully her POISON PEN has run out of ink. Something seriously wrong with these two.
