Be warned. These people are the best I?ve ever seen. They are the best at showing you over and over how little they care about you or your business. This is the worst experience I?ve ever had with a contractor of any kind. The previous reviews are spot on. They will be late, they will show up without calling, they will overbook and try to reschedule you, they will not return phone calls, their employees will complain about how much they hate their job right in front of you, the owners will have a yelling match with each other right in front of you, and they will flat out lie to you. We paid our deposit before reading any sort of review of AG&S; huge mistake. We hoped that maybe they had changed their tune and we wouldn?t have an experience similar to the reviews, but we were wrong. The entire experience was rather unprofessional. However, the biggest problems started two days before the job. They called us to reschedule because they had overbooked the day. They had a little over two weeks from the time we scheduled to call us. They chose to wait until two days before the job was to be done. Unfortunately, we weren?t able to be flexible without significantly delaying the job and already had other contractors scheduled around the install date. After a few phone calls back and forth, they made it work and told us they would call the morning of the job to confirm. They didn?t. They showed up without warning and the installers were not surprised that nobody called ahead. They were polite but unprofessional. The measurements taken by the owner weren?t spot on and some drywall had to be cut into to make the countertops fit around a corner. Our high-bar wasn?t ready because the corbels didn?t get delivered on time so they had to delay installing it for a couple of days. When they did install it, they left a ½ inch gap between the stone and the supporting 2x4 the stone was supposed to be laying on. The heavy granite was resting on the corbels, a little bit of adhesive, and a cement backerboard that we used to tile the backsplash. You can see clear through the gap. The installers told me this wasn?t a big deal and that they did it this way to pitch the stone back toward the countertops below so that spills would roll back onto the countertops and not the floor. However this was a lie because I checked the bar and it is perfectly level. We were told just to cover the gap with a piece of trim which we had planned on doing anyway but it just didn?t seem right to have such a large gap. The worst part is now the bar has an uncomfortable amount of wiggle in it and doesn?t seem structurally sound. I called the owner to ask him to come look at it. He hardly ever answers but when he does he?s quick to schedule a day to come inspect it. The problem is he never shows up. He also doesn?t call to say he isn?t showing up and he doesn?t answer when you try and call him. Nobody in the shop will return a call either. They?ve been paid so they don?t care. Horrible experience. I wouldn?t recommend these guys to my enemies.

Description of Work: Counters in kitchen. Excellent craftsmanship, only problem was repeated delays in installation due to overbooking. This created problems for me having to rebook my plumber to complete kitchen. But price was and quality was superb.

This is a second home so their tardiness could be quite an annoyance. Rob and Nikki are great people to work with but you do need a lot of patience as they are over their heads and need to delegate responsibility. Initial template scheduled by Rob, as he was going to do it himself. He never showed and no phone calls or phone calls returned. If I had not already picked out my stone and could not get it at another location, I would have gone to another shop. Another template time scheduled, I actually left door unlocked for them to arrive as I had to leave to go home. Phone call received at 7:00 pm. Scheduled time before noon. Installation day arrived and of course they were tardy again. Ogee edge was not on island so 9' slab had to be returned. Returned next day as it was too late when they arrived. Bottom line Rob and Nikki are very nice people but they need to hire more employees and delegate. They need to have an employee at the store at all times. Many times when I could not get them on the phone, I would drive over to find all doors locked. This is not the way to run a business or it tells me the markup is through the roof on stone. Finished countertops are beautiful. Just know if it is only Rob and Nikki in the office, you need an extra dose of patience. They mean well but they do not know how to say we cannot get to you today, it will be next week at ...

I was told this could be done in 3-4 weeks. I paid half the cost on March 3rd and the work was not completed until 9 weeks later. Every time I was told they were coming to measure, do a template, install the countertops, finish the job, fix the backsplashes, they had to cancel and reschedule and they never showed up at the time they said they would. I usually had to call them myself and ask when they were coming to do part of the job - they did not call me. Each time someone came out, it was a different person and I do not think anyone cared about how the job was done. The breakfast bar was not done correctly the first time and they had to come back. The backsplashes were too short and showed holes in my drywall so had to be recut and replaced later (that guy did a very sloppy job). The granite is not finished/polished on the underside of the breakfast bar so it is very rough if you rub up against it. I just realized that my drop in stove is sticking out and shows holes on each side because the countertop was not cut correctly. I was not informed that the sink hole would not be in the middle of the sink like the sink I had and had to call a plumber to realign all the plumbing which was > $300. All in all this was a terrible experience.

Description of Work: Installed Quartz counter tops in the kitchen. They were very knowledgeable and did a terrific job installing the counter tops. The customer service and responsiveness to our inquiries was awful. Everything had to go through Rob and he was difficult to get ahold of and did not advise that he could not make appointments that were scheduled. The price was great but customer service was terrible.

I love the final product. But, what a hassle. Had one vanity measured wrong it took 5 weeks to get it replaced but in the end they were very professional and took on the expense. I would not use again due to the hassle of scheduling. My time is as important as theirs. Almost every appointment was scheduled for 9am but 10:30 to noon is more likely arrival and one appointment was completely missed with no call and when we called discovered the appointment was lost. For new construction I would recommend for a remodel you are living through no.

First trip to showroom was great. Rob seemed very knowledgeable and attentive. After that visit, there seemed to be constant issues: 1- Second visit he could not find my quote in system, we had to start over with color selection, etc 2 - Once order was placed, the 1st home visit to measure countertops was postponed. They rescheduled to next day. 3 - The day of granite installation, they finally arrived around 7:00 pm at night. The initial time was 1:00 pm. 4 - Blacksplash in 1 bathroom not the correct size (they had measured incorrectly initially). Installed all other granite except blacksplash. 5 - We waited a week, heard nothing, called and left messages twice in 3 days. No one returned call. Third call (2 weeks had passed) to store was answered by female. After some discussion, she confirmed with shop foreperson that blacksplash would be installed the next Tuesday - in the afternoon. No one showed. I called around 3:00 pm and no one answered. Left message. 6 - The next day, after not receiving a call, I called them again. They did send someone out that day - with an incorrectly cut piece of granite for backsplash. The installer was very apologetic, stating he would address that day - which he did - returning around 7:00 pm that evening. The final product was average. There were items that did not quite line up (one of the sinks had to moved around to work correctly). But overall, I would probably use again if I had a simple job to complete. The price was good, and if you have a bit of patience, the job will get done.

Installed countertops and tub deck in my master bathroom. They had a good selection of various stones for me to choose from, and the prices were reasonable. Rob was very helpful and knowledgeable during the selection process. Everyone I had contact with, from Rob and Nikki (the owners), to Eddie, Derek and Wes (the installers) were pleasant, professional and courteous. In most respects they went out of their way to make sure I was pleased. My only issue with them was their installation timing. I think Rob tends to be a bit overly optimistic in how long things take. If you want a great selection, good prices and very nice people to work with, and if you can be a bit flexible with scheduling, American Granite and Stone should do well for you.

They have great prices but are too busy to measure the project and set up a time for installation. Rob seems to be a great guy but needs to hire someone in the office to help with all of the business. I went from being very patient to now having to find another company to help me. After calling several times and being put on hold and several empty promises to measure to let me know if a certain product would work, I finally gave up.

I do not do many reviews but these folks deserve to be recognized. I owned a small business and have expectations of professionalism and service that others might not. American Granite not only met but exceeded my expectations in every respect. I had an opportunity to meet and talk to the fabricators in the shop and they showed pride in the business and sought to provide a quality product. The owner and management was totally responsive as well. After installation we had some minor issues with the sealer coat allowing some water intrusion. They again went above and beyond expectations to insure the work was complete and top quality. At one point, we had been traveling and not readily available and they persisted in arranging a convenient time to return. Normally you have to call and keep calling to make that happen.
Description of Work: We obtained several estimates for replacing our kitchen counter with a granite surface. American Granite was very competitive. They advertise on their website that you view and select the actual slabs used, and further, select what part of the slabs will be used. I soon realized they could do a better job then I in matching patterns. They also point out they do not subcontract, etc. Those are important points when purchasing something that will be strongly evident in your everyday life. You will have a bad taste if you get a counter with poorly matched patterns. Nor should you buy from a foot square sample. Just like paint or wallpaper, seeing a large slab of the product tells you much more about appearance and saves you form disappointment.
