This project has had delays in its start date and it is for that reason that only today I write this review. Punctuality-one month ago I began to notice a pattern of poor punctuality with pre-planning meeting. On at least two occasions he did not show for meeting to go over details, nor did he call. It is for this reason that I started to look for a back up framer. Responsiveness The last week of July I called him again to say I was ready to start and the responded that he was finishing up a job and if I could just delay until the second week of August. I insisted on a cut list and he agreed that he would have this done Monday 8/4. I heard nothing by Monday and he was not returning my calls. He picked up the phone when I called on a work phone not recognizable as mine. We finally met one week after the cut list was due. There was no apology. He said he had a good framer named Roger that would work with a crew of four. Over the next week he told me several things that were needed to start, I later began to see this as a pattern of delay. Still no cut list. I spoke to him in the middle of the week about good weather Thursday through Saturday. He said they would start Thursday. We were to meet Wednesday. He said the cut list was done Quality of work - The cut list is a listing on paper of all the key dimension need for the job you are about to start. Mr. Guifarro at the meeting began to point out several problems with my plans. He cited that there was no reference to hold down clips, but he had not followed the page reference to A structural 2. I asked for the cut list and he pointed to one height of a wall stud it was wrong! I calculated there on the spot showing him the correct wall height per the plans, and he ignored the fact of his mis calculation. He insisted that 105" was the standard height and that he could not do the plans if I did not go with this number! I asked what he was going to change the wall heights to on other parts of the house and his reasoning fumbled. I pressed for why he was having misgivings and he went on embarrassing tangents and excuses. I had to leave the meeting for another one. Here is the quote verbatim from my architect after Mr. Guifarro called to ask "what is 103.33?" "If a primary framer/superintendent can t take .33 and make 4 out of it without instructions, I would have grave reservations about them as a prime subcontractor." I never did receive that cut list. Late in afternoon Thursday I left a message saying it was not honest to have my project delayed if he had no intention of finishing it. He called me and said he was not going to take the project on. He made poor excuses for quitting like the fact that I had serious negotiations with a back up framer. On 8/13/08
Description of Work: From Mr. Guifarro I obtained a competitive quote for framing 10/16/07. I expected that at this date he had determined that he could perform a competent job. He of course knew that by selecting him I was excluding any other competition. This is sometimes called spiking the job. Through our pre-meetings, and probing questioning I believe I can fairly make and assessment of his responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism.
