Protech Roofing replaced my roof approximately eight years ago. In August, 2018, I noticed a stain on the ceiling in my bedroom, indicating a roof leak. I had also received a notice from my insurance company, stating that my shingles were curling, and that they would cancel my homeowners insurance, if this wasn't repaired. I made several attempts to contact Protech. They finally called me back and came to my house on Aug. 29 to check on the leak and the curling shingles. They found the shingles to be in good shape, with only a some nails sticking up, causing the shingles to look curled. They nailed them back down. They thought they'd found the problem with the leak, and repaired it. At that time, they told me that they would send pictures of the problem (small hole in the shingles, caused by a fallen tree limb), and they said they'd also send something that I could give to my insurance company, showing that the shingles were in good shape. On Sept. 13, I tried to contact Protech again to ask for the pictures they had taken of the hole in the shingles, and for the document that I needed for my insurance company. I left voicemails, as well as a private message on Facebook. I heard nothing from Protech. On Oct. 16, I attempted to contact Protech again, via voicemail and Facebook Messenger. I was trying two different phone numbers - one went straight to voicemail and the voicemail wasn't set up on the other one. I continued making attempts, via voicemail and Messenger, and they finally contacted me via Messenger the night of Oct. 17, saying that they'd be at my house around noon on Friday, Oct. 19. Once again, I asked about the pictures and about the proof that my shingles weren't curling. I also requested a dated receipt for the shingles that they installed eight years ago, because the receipt that they gave me was undated, and I had no way of proving when I purchased the shingles. On Oct. 19, Protech did not come to my house at noon, as scheduled. I had arranged for my daughter to be there, since I had to be out of town that day. She waited all afternoon, and Protech didn't show up, nor did they call. After I contacted them at approx. 130 p.m., via Messenger, they responded to say that they'd been delayed at another job, but would come to my house later that afternoon. I reminded them that I still needed something in writing about the shingles, and also the pictures. At about 530 p.m., I messaged them again, because they still hadn't shown up. They responded that they would get a receipt and a letter for the insurance company about the shingles to me . I responded back, asking about the leak again. They said that they'd be over in the next hour or two. They did not show up. At about 645 p.m., they said that one of their guys would be over at 9 a.m. the next morning to check on the leak. I received a phone call from them, at some point during the evening, but it showed up as "Unknown" on my caller ID, so I didn't answer it. It was Protech. They left a message, saying that they were sending the pictures to a family member, so she could send them to me. I don't know why they had to do that, because they have my phone number, and could have texted them to me directly. A little while later, Protech sent me the pictures, and the document for my insurance company, via Messenger, but no receipt. One of the pictures was actually a video, which I couldn't open, so I asked them to email it to me, which they did. They also told me that if the person who was supposed to come to my house the next day didn't come, the owner would be back in town on Friday, Oct. 26, and would deal with it then. This, after they'd already told me that guy was coming the next day! The next day, Oct. 20, Protech messaged me at approx. 9 a.m. to say that they wouldn't come then, because it was raining, but would be at my house later. This wouldn't have been an issue if they had come the previous day, as scheduled! Our family had plans that day, and would not be at home later, but Protech said that we didn't have to be there. How did they expect me to trust them to show up if no one was there to prove it? I told them we might not be at home, and to leave the dated receipt in the door, if I wasn't there. They said that they'd email it to me. It's been a week, and I still don't have it! Some folks came to fix the leak a little later, just before we left for the day. When I hadn't received the dated receipt by that afternoon, I message Protech again about it. They said that they were working on it. I messaged them again about it that evening, and got no response. On Oct. 23, I received a private message on Facebook from the owner of Protech. He stated that I'd been calling the wrong number, and that his son had hijacked his business name and had gone into business for himself, using the Protech name on his trucks and business cards. He said that his son and the son's girlfriend were the ones I'd been talking to on Facebook Messenger. I had been leaving voicemails for his wife, whose phone always went straight to voicemail, and I never got a call back. These numbers are listed on the undated receipt that they gave me eight years ago, as well as various websites and on their Facebook profile. The owner gave me his number, and told me to call him, which I did. I explained to him that I NEVER received ANY warranty information for the shingles, and that I didn't realize that my receipt didn't have a date on it until I had a leak. He said that he would take care of the warranty, which involves calling 1-800-GETPINK, and ordering a warranty packet. He said that it would take 3-4 weeks to arrive, at which time he would come to my house, remove two shingles, and send them to the company for testing. If the shingles are faulty, the company will send me a prorated reimbursement to replace the shingles. On Oct. 25, my roof leaked again in the same place that was supposed to have been repaired on Oct. 20. On Oct. 26, I called the owner of Protech again to ask him to come to my house to repair the leak. He said that he would be here on Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. He did not show up, and he didn't call. I tried calling him at his direct number, but the call went straight to voicemail. I left a voicemail at approx. 1015 a.m. The owner has not called me back. I sent him a message on Facebook Messenger at approx. 1030 a.m. No response. I called the other numbers that I have - again, one call went straight to voicemail, and the voicemail isn't set up at the other number. At this point, I still have a leaky roof, and I still don't have the proof of when I purchased my shingles. This company has TERRIBLE customer service. I don't know how they stay in business. Protech is unprofessional, and they have proven this by not returning phone calls, and not following through on commitments to a customer. This is extremely bad business practice.
