We hired Chad Mitchell, of Fleetwood Log Homes, to put a new metal roof on our home. He charged us $10,000. The roof was never done correctly, despite numerous attempts at repairing what was just a bad job. We should have known when Fleetwood Log Homes subcontracted the work out to someone who then sub-subcontracted the work out to a bunch of good ol'boys, who had probably never put a roof on in their lives, that there might be issues. The roof had to be "fixed" right after being installed, because of obvious and very visible problems, and we were then assured that roof was "all right." ( Note: the repairs at this point left splits in the ends in our cedar siding, additionally the good ol' boys had driven nails through our ceiling in the living room when installing the roof.) After some high winds the next month, lifted off part of the roof, Chad sent someone from his crew by to "fix" it. Then several months later, rain leaked into the living room because of leaks around the chimney. That too was fixed...Then we had the winter snows of this winter- 2009-2010. The roof leaked, again into the living room, and the snow took off the a great deal of the gutters around the house, the snow from the front roof slid down to the front porch area and smashed the front gate. We were not able to get out the front door for months because the snow was higher than the porch. We had to hire someone to put wood up, where the front gate use to be, just to keep the dogs in the yard. After months of calls, Fleetwood Homes sent over a person from Roten Roofing in March, 2010. Upon inspecting the roof, Roten Roofing promptly told us that the roof had not been put on correctly, the "snow stops" should have worked, but were not installed correctly, there were places where the roof still needed to be screwed down, and that the area around the chimney needed to be repaired. Roten Roofing did make these repairs. However, he also said that flashing was needed in various area's to prevent the "roof from lifting off again in a high wind." Chad told us that the material for the flashing's had to be ordered...which was weeks ago! Our phone calls to Fleetwood Homes are returned intermittently. Fleetwood Homes did call recently to say a roofer will be out to measure for the roof flashing, that was supposed to be on order, but the roofer never showed. Our calls to Roten Roofing have not been returned. We are left with the expense of replacing the gutters around the house, installing a new front gate, hiring someone to paint a two story living room wall, and finding a roofer, who will actually fix the roof. Sadly, Fleetwood Log Homes "builds" homes in this area...I only had a roof put on by them...I would hate to think about the issues a house built by this company, would bring down upon the homeowner.
Description of Work: We had our old roof torn off and a new metal roof installed on our home.
