Work began on 26 June. I was informed this would be a 3-4 day job. Almost every day I was told that the workers would arrive and begin working before noon. When they did show up, it was never before 3:00 PM. Often they never showed, keeping me waiting all day without a phone call. None of the workers had a drivers license and they would be left at the house waiting for their boss to pick them up - often as late as 7:00 PM. Luckily the workers were nice guys. The company did not have a bank account to deposit checks into, so I ended up making over $3500 worth of payments in small cash amounts or small checks as the boss could not deposit large sums into his account. On 10 July (15 days after beginning on a 3-4 day project) I was informed that the AC unit is working and complete, minus a few "cosmetic touches" that would be finished the following morning. Thinking that the job was done, I paid the last $400 in cash - sure that, as promised, the job would be finished the following morning. That evening, I noticed that some of the duct work looked exactly like a piece of old duct work that used to be laying in the crawl space under my house (I paid for all new duct work). The workers failed to show the next day, but the electrical inspector did and pointed out many faults with the AC unit that would not pass an inspection. The electrical inspector did some checking and found that a permit had not been pulled on the AC job and that the boss' license had expired. Repeatedly (almost daily) I was ensured (after I called them) that the company would come the next day and fix the deficiencies. I was never given courtesy calls to inform me that they were not going to show up, which kept me waiting every day. As a result, my two weeks of vacation (following a deployment to Iraq) was ruined and I was not able to go on a trip with my family. I cannot finish work on my additional room without the AC unit passing an inspection. It is now 29 July (34 days since the beginning of a 3 to 4 day project) and the work is still not done. I DO continue to get promises that the work will be finished the next day though. As I wasn't in a HUGE rush, I was willing to let the project take a little longer than I thought necessary - as long as the unit was installed properly and professionaly. What I got for my leniency was unprofessionalism, dishonesty, and disrespect.
