They were excellent. They were professional and they did they work in the time allotted. They solved the problem without going through extra cost. They were about 100$ under what they estimated. We had a foundation problem due a tree falling onto it. They came in and put in stabilizers and attached them to the foundation and raised the foundation and now everything is level. They also leveled out one of the back house beams. They are a local business who have been around for 25+ years. They were recommendation to us from some personable contractors in the area who said that is the only company you should use for fountain repair . I wished we could give them an A+.

They came out for me a couple years ago. They basically picked up the bottom of my home that was falling off; it was the back corner. A full crew came out and it took them one day to do the work. To use anybody else would be a mistake. It was the first time that I have used them and they were the only contractor, in addition to another contractor that I have used recently that I was pleased with, who showed up on time, did the job better than what they promised and also left the job better than I could have expected it to be. They did everything that they said they were going to do for the price that they said that it would be and you cannot get any better than that. I always mention them to other people if they are looking for foundation repair company.

They installed crack monitors to see if I needed foundation work. I was very pleased. They have come out for me and have been checking the monitors that they installed; and they have one more time to come out and check them. I will be sure to use them if I ever do need foundation work. I heard about them on our local radio talkshow. This was the first time that I have used them. I had other companies come out; but Atlantic Foundation & Repair did not try to sell me on anything that I didn’t need. They were honest in letting me know that the crack monitors were an alternative to not having to do foundation repair. That really impressed me. It is 150$ for each of the crack monitors and that includes 3 visits per eat monitor. They come during a dry, wet and then another dry cycle. They are very interested in their reputation and they work with you as much as they can.

I was very pleased. They dug up my garage, due to my foundation and having moisture it in. It took them a couple of days. A couple of guys were out here working, but the owner was here overseeing everything the entire time. They were excellent. They did some work for me over the years. It was reasonable and they did a good job. They guy came in and was very polite and gave me the estimate. There was something in my foundation that started to sink and they were able to get that taken care of. The crew who came out did their job and when I had a little issue they were able to come out and fix that for me. Compared to other estimates they had the best price. They advertise on FM 106.1 and I still hear about them on the radio.

Atlantic foundation did an excellent job. The appointment to look at the house and provide a quote was scheduled quickly, and Tom Holland came out for a walk through within a few days of my request. He provided a quote for the work on the same day, and provided his phone number for any follow up questions. Once I contacted Tom to and let him know I was ready to proceed with the repair, he had a crew onsite Monday of the following week. The work crew was cordial, professional and the foreman did an excellent job keeping me updated as the work progressed. Once the foundation was completely dug out we were able to see how severe the foundation problems were. We made adjustments in the original plan, to address the severity of the problem, and ensure stability of the house, and safety of the work crew. The original plan was to use carbon fiber straps to stabilize the foundation walls, but the severity of bowing and inward movement of the walls required helical piers to straighten and stabilize the foundation. The price of the repair increased significantly, as did the amount of time to complete the repair. Overall the I am very satisfied with the work by Atlantic Foundation. We had significant rain the day after they completed all the outside work and the basement remained dry. They only work left to complete is to re-pour concrete that was removed as part of the repair. We are just waiting on the ground to dry so they can finish the job.
Description of Work: The basement of my home had severe water leak problems due to the walls shifting inward. One section of the foundation wall had buckled severely. Atlantic Foundation installed helical piers to the front and sides of the house to stabilize and correct the foundation problems. They sealed cracks in the foundation walls, applied waterproofing with wick board, and installed foundation drains for all the gutter down spouts.

The day of the estimate the owner Tom Holland arrived and measured degree of balance discrepancies with level, assessed all doors, windows, and drywall cracks, paying particular to all problem areas pointed out by the homeowner. At the completion of the estimate, we had an actual drawing of pier placement and the owner's cell phone number to call if we had additional questions. We did call with additional questions and received quick response from owner. We agreed on price and date work to be done, kindly around work travel so homeowner could be onsite during install. The crew showed up on time with all materials in hand, but the crew chief was ill and had to leave the site. The crew manager was quickly pulled from another job to get ours going; start time delayed by only about 30 minutes! The crew was polite, neat, respected our request for no smoking onsite, and answered our questions throughout the day. Crew members always knocked/rang doorbell/asked permission to access our home, taking care not to bring dirt/mud into the house. The crew was super diligent in checking the level of the floors, doors and windows throughout their work. Our refridgerator appeared to be listing hard left after the job was completed; we called for assistance and again received timely callback. Mr. Holland himself came back and helped us level it and confirm quality of the job. We are very satisfied with Mr Holland's customer service, extensive experience and expertise, patience with addressing our many questions, the lifetime guarantee on the work and documents supporting that warranty provided. We would use this company again, however it is usually only minor adjustments needed over the years once the support system is properly installed. We strongly encourage everyone in need of foundation assessment/repair to schedule an appointment and utilize Atlantic Foundation and Repair/Tom Holland for the job!
Description of Work: Assessed degree of unbalance of walls, floors, doorways and cracks throughout our home, draw design of necessary floor support piers and joist supports to level our home, estimate of time and cost for installation of recommended supports to be placed in the crawl space under our house, and provided timely services.

It went well. The workers were courteous, on time, and knew what they were doing. They dug a new hole for a foundation under a section of an inner wall that was sagging slightly. They supported that wall section so it no longer sags or cracks. The price was a fair price. I have no problems with it. I have used this company in the past for a foundation that was sinking due to clay deposits. It has been over five years and that section of foundation has given me no problems. No movement at all. So I trust the company.

I only closed on this house the end of March so it is an interesting story, so the Fs that they got was from the previous owner. I decided that there might be some sort of warranty or something which is why I first started talking to them. My house was shrinking I was pretty unhappy so was my porch. They gave me an estimate, very professional. I really liked them a lot so I decided to dismiss because people are funny. You don't pay attention to all reviews important, it is not all are reasonable so I decided to go with them. I actually also hired a structural engineer to double check before the work was done and he highly recommended this company, so I went with them, they did a great job. I don't like the price, but I am told that it was a very reasonable price for the work that was being done. I would use them again.

The Atlantic Foundation team were prompt, competent, and professional. The foreman, Robbie Joyner, was especially good to work with.
Description of Work: One basement wall was buckling inward by about 1/2", with extensive horizontal cracks. Apparently this was due to water pressure building up in the soil next to the wall. During heavy rains, water would come through the wall into the basement. In order to push the wall back into place, Atlantic Foundation excavated the entire wall down to the footing. They then jacked the wall back into place and installed carbon fiber straps to the inside of the wall to reinforce it. They installed a drain along the footing and ran it to an open air outlet downhill from the basement, and another drain that connected to all 3 gutter downspouts to carry rainwater to the same location. They backfilled the excavation and compacted the soil as much as possible. When we found that the backfill had settled by several inches several day later, they returned promptly and corrected it. The surface appears to be stable now. Atlantic Foundation provided a written guarantee.

I was told I couldn't pay by credit card unless I added a 1 % + of the charge. He would take a check only. I asked about a possible Angie's List discount and the man said: "I don't think we're listed with them, are we?" This house is about 60 years old and with these pilings, it probably won't sink anymore so I probably will not use them again.
Description of Work: The middle of my house seemed to begin sagging. I have a small piano over the center beam. Have cracks in the ceiling. Wasn't sure if the problem could be solved. Tom, owner, said that 3 pilings would be necessary to stop sagging. The pilings were built the next day. Three men came with cinder blocks and bags of cement and they did erect three pilings in the cellar under the main walls of the house. Pretty expensive. The crew was done in time for lunch. Tom was very interested in selling other work the company does, but I thought this was expensive and figured the other work was also over priced but I don't know of other companies that do this type of basement work.

In 2009 this company was asked to evaluate the foundation of my house due to cracks opening in walls, tiles separating from grout, trim separating from its caulk lines. At that time, they jacked up the house temporarily and put shims on 6 piers. They explained that this area has the type of soil that is affected by humidity, and the house would rise and fall small distances as the seasons and humidity changed, but it was now level, and the places where trim or tiles were separating were closed. Now, in 2013, I am selling the house, and the inspector wrote up one pier saying that it should be shimmed, there was a slight gap between the pier and the joist. I called Atlantic and asked them about it, and they again explained about the soil, saying that if we shimmed it up, it would cause more problems when the house settled to its lower stance. The buyer wanted that in writing after having Atlantic actually look at the pier in question, so I asked them to come out. Tom came exactly on time. The rest of the day did not go so well. Rather than looking at the one pier that concerned the inspector, he elected to look at all of them. Although he was satisfied that the house was level, he did not like the style of shims in use, and so he wrote up that all of the shims needed to be replaced (even though some of them were shims his own company had placed in 2009). Apparently he now does not like "wedge shims" and prefers "yellow pine" shims, as well as preferring the yellow pine shims to the steel shims that his own company had used 4 years ago. So now, because he wrote it up, I am stuck facing a $1680 bill for replacing shims that are doing their job, since the house is level, even as he says himself. I challenged him on this, because his company was responsible for some of the shims, and in investigating the cause of the cracking, should have noticed the wedge shims then, if they were a problem. He placed blame on the foreman of the previous job (Tom is the owner). I would not use this company now, had he not put this in writing (which makes it "knowlege of a condition" that I have to fix prIor to selling the house". I will not use this company again. It appears to me that he is in the business of making business for himself, even to the extent of not standing by his own work, and not standing by his own employees.

I had done some desultory searching for a company to fix my foundation. The traditional method is to dig out the soil house, jack the house up and then fill in with concrete. Rough estimates for this type of work were in the thirty to forty thousand dollar range. This company uses a new technique that involves screwing piers into the ground next to the foundation. To do this they dig down until they find the bottom of the footing. They then chip off any extra concrete that may have oozed out the bottom of the mold when the footing was poured. They then use a hydraulic motor on their backhoe to screw the pier into the ground. These piers are thick walled 3" steel pipe with a 3/8" steel, 8" diameter auger on the bottom. They screw the pier into the ground until it reaches a preset amount of resistance. This way they know that the pier is in ground that is low enough that it will not shift or sink. In the case of my house, since my soil is mostly clay, they went down 12 feet below the footings. They then place an 3/8" steel L shaped bracket onto the pier and attach it with large stainless steel bolts. They use hydraulic bottle jacks at each pier to raise the structure back into position. In my case they were able to move the walls enough to practically seal up the cracks. They then use tinted mortar to seal up the remaining crack. They had to remove some bushes in the process, but replanted them when they were done. Each pier can support 48,000 pounds and they are guaranteed for the life of the structure. They place them every five feet or so along the wall to be lifted. They cost $925 each and the price includes everything. There is also a $200 engineering fee. They placed five piers on one wall and four on the other, and completed the job in three days. They filled the heating oil tank with an absorbent first to soak up any residual oil, and then they filled it with concrete. I understand this is the prescribed way to make an old oil tank environmentally safe. I am very satisifed and happy that I was able to repair my foundation without it costing a major portion of the home's value.
Description of Work: Two parts of my house were settling causing cracks in the brick walls. They were to sink piers into the ground to a depth sufficient to support the footings and stop the settling. They were also to decommission an old buried heating oil tank.

Tom Holland came and give me the estimate in a most professional manner, very detailed in its explanations. The crew came on time, were very professional, did an amazing job, aand thoroughly cleaned up after they were finished. Only problem was not to be given call back when I was ready to offer the job, and I nearly switched to a competitor for the same price. The definining factor was Tom' s excellent presentation.
Description of Work: Chimney was detaching from house. They use two helical piers, and stabilizor repair system, and I was abso;utely amazed to see the chimney pushed back to its original position.

They sent out someone to inspect my house within a few days of me calling. While going through the interior of the house, he seemed very certain there was nothing to be done for me, with a lot of discussion of the soils in this area that contribute to houses settling and so forth. When he went under the house and looked at the situation down there, it was a different story. The house support beams were not in contact with the support piers - in other words, the house was basically floating in air above its foundation piers. He said they could do something about that, and verbally estimated the job at $1000, taking my email and promising the estimate that evening by email. It did not come. Two days later, he called to tell me that they had scheduled the work for the following Tuesday and I told him I wanted the estimate. It still did not come. On Friday, I sent an email to his company, figuring they could send the estimate in response to my email if they were having problems with the e-address. No estimate. On Sunday, I sent another email saying that no work would be begun unless I had the estimate in writing first. Monday I received a call from someone at the company, and the estimate followed by email shortly thereafter. After that things went smoothly. A two-man team arrived and one came into the house to watch as adjustments were made under the house to ensure that the house was not lifted too much. They lifted the house enough to put shims between the support beams and piers, and then lowered the house back down. The cracks, the worst of which was a good 1/4 inch wide, are mostly closed - still visible due to the cracked paint, but mostly closed. The gap where the countertop meets the wall is almost gone. The crown moldings show no gap at all. I'm not actually sure I'll call them back if future work arises, I really didn't like the problem with the estimate. The actual work appears to have hit the target. I am hopeful that they did the job and maybe future work won't arise. The cost was much less than I expected.
Description of Work: I called because of cracks appearing in my drywall, and crown moldings separating, and counter tops separating from the wall.

Over the past 25 years there have been some settling issues in the center of my two story home. I decided to get three estimates on raising the sunken floor up to a more level position. One company indicated the need to jack up the center of the house and place one or two supports at a cost of $1,300.00. A second company indicated more serious problems and proposed a new support beam under the house and nine or more support piers at an estimated cost of $3,200.00. The Atlantic representative concluded that none of the settling was recent and that jacking up the house would likely cause more problems than it would correct. He predicted uplifting the floor supports would cause multiple cracks in the walls of at least three rooms, room doors that would not shut properly, and cabinet doors that would not fit or would be poorly fitted. His advice was to do nothing unless I was willing to risk multiple problems and likely expensive repairs from trying to raise the floor that had settled. The advice was given at no charge, and I will follow his recommendations and do nothing.
Description of Work: i requested an estimate on what I perceived to be some foundation and support problems with my home. A representative from Atlantic Foundation & Repair came as scheduled to my home and carefully and thoroughly inspected the foundation, the chimneys and some sloping floors inside the home.

The estimate was provided on a piece of paper and the same paper was used for the workers to do the job. When the workers showed up they were not sure what they were supposed to do. Although my main issue is with the water proofing of my crawlspace, all the work was sloppy and unsupervised. In addition to the water proof coating they were supposed add a membrane. When I asked the workers about the membrane, they stated the could go out and buy one. What they went out and bought was 1/4 inch polystyrene insulation and cut it into small sections which had joints all along the wall. The first rain came and I got water in my crawl space. I placed several calls, each unreturned, and when I finally spoke to Tom, all I got was excuses. They did come out and run the French drain all the way to the road, but still got water in the crawl space. According to others water proofing companies, Atlantic Foundation & Repair, should have water proofed all the way to the footers and not just 2 feet. What a disaster!
Description of Work: The work performed was to water proof my crawlspace, put in new down spouts, and put on carbon fiber strips to repair a crack in my foundation.
