We hired Sineath Construction to renovate and add an addition to our home in Fairview. Our first project manager left the company after about two months on the job. He was replaced by a new employee who lacked the experience to handle our job, (search Jonathan Platt and Appalachian Builders Collective for his poor reviews). Our project was originally scheduled to take nine months and after fifteen months we were able to sign off although additional work needed to be done. Many of the original estimates Sineath Construction provided were low compared to actual cost (electrical budgeted at 14K with lowest bid coming at 28K) , and the project went almost 200K over budget despite us downsizing the project. Here are a few highlights of the major mistakes made: tried to hook up two pressure tanks to a well; installed floating staircase backwards; installed bedroom windows in wrong sequence and had to remove and reinstall; installed thermostat for heated floor in wrong room; installed siding around windows three times before done correctly; forgot to run water line to master bath and had to open dry wall to add – then failed inspection and had to reopen the ceiling to fix; installed the wrong bathtub; we had to source and order our own hardwood floor and tile because PM told us “Go to Carpet One.” and refused (or couldn’t) to compute square footage of rooms; failed 10+ county inspections, completed interior painting was such a mess that Sineath paid $8400 to hire our painters to fix it; exterior paint began to peel within a week of completion; forgot to run electric lines for kitchen stove, bedroom ceiling and all exterior lights; had to open entryway ceiling for the third time to fix missing wire for ceiling light; general lack of efficiency ordering materials, as we had multiple returns of pallets of materials; materials also disappeared from worksite. We were also told that most of the rework we wouldn’t be charged for, but it often still showed up on our invoices. We had to comb through each invoice and find items that were incorrectly charged and to remind them to give us credits for materials returned. Efficiency never seems to be their concern since they are charging 18% on top on all invoices. We voiced our concerns to Brian and Ed during the process and were promised improvements, but the project continued to flounder from a lack of attention to detail and lack of management experience. Needless to say, we were disappointed with Sineath Construction and would never rehire and do NOT recommend them. They may have been builder of the year a few years ago, but with personnel changes, poor internal communications and growth, they cannot provide the attention a project needs.
Description of Work: Remodeled house and added addition and garage.

"How'd it go?" is the question Angie's List has posed. I will attempt to answer this question with facts and truth. The truth is the contractor business is a tough business. It is also true that I have high standards for quality and am particular in how I want things to turn out. The truth is... ...work began on May 19 2015 and was supposed to be completed in two months according to the contract. The final inspection was on November 24, 2015. The scope of the project did change somewhat when a floor was reinforced, but two weeks was ample time to handle the change in scope. ...I made it clear I wanted the microwave exhaust duct installed inside the wall the sub contractors built (rather than it going up through the cabinet above the microwave) and was told it was not possible due to a truss in the attic being in the way. When I went into the attic and realized this was not true, I took measurements and photographed the truss and the duct. I met with the contractor and the project manager, discussed the issue and showed them the pictures and the work was redone the way I wanted it. ...the door to my home was left wide open when the sub contractors left on two occasions, the first overnight. On the second occasion I came home from work to find no one at the house and the door wide open. ...the project manager did not schedule the last inspection, rather my wife called it in. ...the microwave was damaged and was installed anyway. When I discovered it was damaged, I made sure it was replaced. ...my neighbor's asphalt curb (that she paid to have made) was run over and broken apart by sub contractors leaving my house. I communicated that Sineath Construction needed to have it repaired so that it was in the same or better condition than before the damage. This communication took place on 10/26, 11/9, 11/13 and 11/20. Sineath Construction paid the invoice around 12/1. ...the completed site-finished hardwood floors were damaged on two separate occasions by sub contractors. The damaged planks were replaced and the damage is undetectable. ...my six year-old daughter and I finished installing and taping in place a roll of "Ram Board" (a heavy paper to protect floors) on the completed hardwood floors on a Saturday morning. The project manager brought it to the house the previous day and had laid some sections down, but had not used the whole roll and had not taped it down. ...at the end of the project, there were items on the punch list that I told the contractor I would take care of instead of him sending sub contractors back to my home to take care of them. I would rather do the work myself than continue to try to manage a contractor and a project manager to get the results I want. The truth is...this is only one example of a job done by Sineath Construction. Sineath Construction has many positive reviews on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Sineath Construction was the contractor that performed a kitchen remodel, main floor layout revision and site finished hardwood floor install. There was structural work, electrical and plumbing work and walls were moved.

l cannot say enough good things about this company. My addition required meeting existing floor heights, fascia heights and matching existing architectural features of a 100 year old home on the National Historic Register. Their skills were totally professional and spot on. They assemble at 7:30 everyday did not miss a day's work. This was a complex addition that includes an elevator shaft, an ornate deck, a garage that incorporates a lift and other attention requiring details. They were able to enlarge the crew when needed, and all team members worked together in a totally professional manner. The job was left clean everyday. Highly recommended.

Quality of the work was good. Workers were polite and thorough. I did not realize estimate for job was not free, however this may possibly be standard in today's market and his time is certainly @ least as valuable as mine.
Description of Work: Repaired pocket door, cleaned gutters and installed foam gutter guards and requested estimate for work on another property (multiple projects) - I ended up not having the work done and still have not as of yet.

Description of Work: Needing our front door replaced, i contacted Sineath Construction for a quote. we had purchased our door from Lowes, and Lowes' estimate for installation was $300 more than what Sineath quoted. The old door was removed, the trim and threshold were also removed. The new door, trim, threshold and door knob and locks were installed, trim was then painted. Excellent work overall, done in a timely fashion!
