Description of Work: Not much. I contracted Mr. Bryant September 2012 to paint my summer house in Maggie Valley. The contract was for $2600.00. 1). He was to pressure wash the entire house. 2). paint the entire house and trim, 2 coats. 3). Stain the porch deck, upper and lower decks, and wooden walkway on one side of the house, 2 coats. I paid him a down pmt. of $650.00 on Sept 24th, 2012. He estimated 5-7 days to do the job. Between Sept 24th and November 2, 2012. Very little work was done. We had come home 4 or 5 times during that time frame, and every time we left I would tell him, You need to be done by the time we get back . Not only was he not done, my neighbors told me he never showed up. We where gone for 15 days at one stretch, and he never came to work the whole time. We leave the mountains the first of November every year. When we left Nov. 2012 I told him we would be back in April 2013 and everything had to be done. Due to some problems in Jacksonville, we where unable to get back until June. Nothing or very little had been done since Nov 2012. From April until June the weather was fine. He should have been finished. I called him and fired him in June. I had given him $1000.00 more in Oct 2012 to pay his helpers. I don't know for what. Bottom line after 9 months my house was not finished. I feel like I was robbed of $1650. I hired another painter that finished the job. Of course they where unable to use anything Mr. Bryant had done. If I where you, I'd do my homework before doing business with this guy.

Very poor scheduling on his part. He arrived at 9:30 and then was gone for 2 hours for lunch and returned late in the day. In a week, the actual hours of painting done was only 6.5 hours. There was a lot of arriving late and leaving early and not explaining the absences. The work that was done is neat and well done, there just wasn’t a lot of work that actually was done.
Description of Work: I contracted Bryant Painting to do some interior painting for me.

Very poor. Work was average but constantly wanting money. Did not finish job & refused to return calls.
Description of Work: Beware of using this painter, construction business. They gave us an estimate requesting so much at the beginning & the balance to be paid upon completion. We paid the beginning amount. The job took longer than he told us. He wanted payments during the job which was not what we were told. Since they were doing the work we paid these amounts. He would call repeatedly asking for additional payments. At one point a painter that he had subcontracted the work to called us & demanded payment saying that he had not been paid. Finally finished the job 6-8 weeks past what he told us. There was significan paint overspray on the fixtures (gutters, lights, downspouts, doors). The deck was also the wrong color. We did not want to pay the final amount until he corrected the issues. He insisted on getting the payment so that he could pay his workers. He promised us that he would fix the issues the next working day. He also said we owed more than we did. We made the final payment in good faith. He then contacted us saying his wife/bookkeeper said we owed 1000 more. I told him I had the cancelled check for the amount. He told me that was not true. He insisted that I send a copy of the cancelled check to them. I sent them the cancelled check. Did not EVER hear from him again. NEVER came back & finish job, would not return phone calls. A year later still no contact. Work was average but would not recommend due to all the other issues.

Response from Bryant Painting
Unfortunately, when you work with the public everyday you will occasionally run into someone like this. She seems to be angry with life in general and I believe you can see that in her rant above so I will not waste too much time here. My company was not hired by hee. We were hired by a man, who was a vey nice guy. We worked flawlessly with him for weeks to replace rotted fascia, soffit, sub-roofing, repair chimney, tear off old roof, lay paper, lay new roof, etc. There was more rotted wood then anyone knew. We called him to inform him and he okayed the additional labor, materials and charges. Once this work was done, he paid us and hired us to paint the exterior of the same house. We noticed while we were painting the tenant abruptly moved out and he became hard to contact. When we finally reached him, he paid us with a check written by HER who needlessly stopped payment on the check the following day. When I met with them to discuss the problem she was irate because of the extra money on the rotted wood. In the first five minutes she yelled at her 6 year old child and emasculated her husband in front of me. I knew then they had personal issues and we needed to conclude our business immediately. We finished up the final touch ups, left her a color match and collected our check. We did a great job on their house at a phenomenal price and I’d be happy to give anyone the address to inspect our work. I am not surprised that she has posted a negative review, that seems to be her nature. What I am surprised at is she is a licensed clinical psychologist. I hope she shows more respect to her patients that she did to us. On a side note.....we learned of this review from a new customer. She hired us to stain her $500,000 Honka log home and has now asked that we come back in the spring to paint the inside. We have been painting for 25 years and have a long list of references and satisfied customers. Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to send them to you.
